Why the umbrella of safety that being a well-known, hated, wardeccable player alliance gives, of course. He's, of course, right. All the hardcore non-carebears do tough, risky things like blobbing Iteron Vs and noobfit caracels at lowsec gates.

That's the umbrella I'm talking bout yeah, Concord protection save for wardecs, on which you get a 24 hr notice, living on the edge guys, salvaging from pve fitted players with ships they prolly can't get a lock on b4 you guys have the time to warp out like 10 times.
Don't get me wrong, I like the ninja proffesion, even thought of getting into it myself, but you're high-sec dwellers in general living under the protection of hi-sec rules (and abusing them, kudos for that). Just because you do something "mean" doesn't make you non-carebear. If a trader/manufacturer decides to drive a market into the ground that can be considered as 'mean' too, doesn't make him any less of a carebear though.

You're my new favourite on C&P. I been telling Tchell a few times here already that he's a carebear, just like the carebears he grief, but he keeps ignoring me. WHERE'S THE LOVE!
But seriously, a can flipping fresh player is more of a pirate than a salvage ninja. No offense here either, about the profession. Ninja* all you want, it's more a mental griefing than a ship grief. But it's carebearing. Supplying industrialists with materials, just like carebears. Living under protection of CONCORD, just like carebears.
Pretty cool idea, griefing playstyle, but still a carebear. Edit; nasty little typo slipped in. -

I can attest that there is a significant membership of SN more interested in killing Missionrunners than they are salvaging

Edited by: Mendolence on 28/02/2009 16:41:33 Carebears are carebears are carebears. They can't be "won over", or forced to participate in PvP. It simply won't happen.
If you expose them to piracy, or any "hostile" player encounter, they're going to congregate in areas of space where it's still safe. If there are no safe areas, they'll leave the game. It would be great initially, but I don't know how long it would last.
It should be self-evident, just look at low-sec. The carebears can go there whenever they want.... but they don't. That's precisely why they're carebears. Foisting PvP on them isn't going to turn them into PvPers; it will make them leave the game.
If you want them to PvP, CCP has to offer inducements to get them into low-sec / zero-sec.

To me carebears in Eve are much like people who refuse to actually shoot the enemy in FPS games. Sure, they have the right to play that way, but it's against the spirit of the game, and they can expect to rarely win and have their team generally dislike them.
As such I would be quite happy if all the highsec carebears quit and were replaced with more pvp-oriented players.

..that makes zero sense whatsoever, got to be a troll. You sound so sincere, /applauding your effort if you are indeed trolling, because I just swallowed the bait and choked on it -
a) Noone plays FPS games without actually shooting people. You can camp, you can derail, you can try snipe and outmanouver, etc, but if you never shoot anyone you lose by default. Havn't seen this happen, like, ever?
b) If all highsec carebears quit, that means we'd have to rely on low- and nullsec carebears to supply us with all ships, modules, etc. It'd be a pain in the ass, prices would go up by craploads, and eventually we'd either have to quit or start to mine. And honestly, the idea of mining to PvP makes me ill. I'd rather have a carebear make isk on me (and then I'll shoot him down). -

I like to kill stuff. Short of can flipping mechanics (which I did once upon a time in a period between 0.0 wars and lowsec piracy) I'm completely oblivious of the mechanics involved in highsec, short of the wardec principle. Having someone who routinely tries to find holes in highsec mechanics would by rights be an excellent candidate for the CSM, as their mindset in and of itself is suited to such a position. -

I for one, despite my obvious biased ties, would rather see someone who seems to be willing to work with and for the citizens from whom she asks for support from. I read the forums as you all do. I see the posts. I want someone who I believe is working for me(us) and not themselves. I see that in Tchell Dahhn.

You've obviously missed that part whereby a defining characteristic of Seeing and Peeing is to break down the walls that hold us inside, in much the same way as all the convicts hoping to march out of New York in Escape from New York

I want somebody who will make a serious effort to use the CSM tool (flawed though it surely is) to make the game improvements desired by the people who voted for him. Not somebody who seems to view the process as some sort of nihilistic joke.
I would vote for Anklesplitter or pick a name off the dartboard before I'd vote for Captain Pompous. Why vote for somebody who can't even be arsed to say what he's after? ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

I have said on several occasions, but perhaps you missed it? The essence of "Seeing and Peeing Things Up" is nebulous but it is there - to exact change from the inside out.

Having the CSM "wrecked from within" is not much of a goal. I'd rather have a candidate who actually wants to improve the game, not wreck one of the tools that's supposed to advance that goal. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

I have asked on several occasions - please keep your rabble in your thread. You don't see me proposing my values in there. Now, if you'd like to have a 'Debate' thread, as some have requested, feel free to create one.
