Well get using those other sources of income, no longer is it a matter of collecting isk from miners that want to be neutral in the hope anti-pirate groups are going to turn a blind eye.
You are going to have to defend those miners now, or they will be shot out the skies and might wonder why they are paying your high refine taxes and handing over isk for mining licences when you do so little in return for them.

Instead of killing them you should simply protect them. You're no better than pirates doing that.

Well this is amusing!
Vipers; sort out you're priorities, get a life and some manners!

'... However, he was safe for the time; he had food and water; true, the birds bothered him somewhat, for they did not act as miglik have been expected. There seemed something uncanny in the way they sat and watched him. He did not like that, and often threw a stone at them; but even that had little effect - they only seemed to look more serious...'

Edited by: JoCool on 18/07/2004 22:05:04 They're Xetic, what do you expect. You should declare war on The X-Trading Company, they support these "Anti pirates".
Add: Wow where did the posts between my latter post and this one go to?

they paid the protection money to the pirates, so they better get some value out of it. You protect them, they are your problem once they handed the isk over.

Not for the pirates to protect them, but for them to be protected from the pirates. God it? :)

Edited by: Vlad Thaltos on 18/07/2004 23:06:57 well, i had a similar experience some weeks ago... you enter a belt. there you see some ships from a mining corp mining. and then you see some ships from a pirate corp in the same belt. "hm..." you think "...poor miners" but 5 secs later you see the pirate ships killing npc rats and holding their positions.
"well..." you thing "2 possible reasons" 1st: the mining corp is an alt corp. 2nd: the pirates are sponsored by the miners for "protecting" them.
only solution, cause the pirates caused a lot of trouble in your region of space: attack.

Funny that they have to pick on the empty neutral hauler and miners rather than attack the pirates... What, the pirates too tough for them? I'm sure my pod would have been destroyed if I hadn't warped out fast enough. Anyhow, if they try to cut off their source of money, what stops the pirates from mining there themselves and protecting their own miners? Wether it's a group of miners that have been asked to pay for the right to stay and mine, or they mine themselves, they will still get their money, so whatever way you look at it, attacking unarmed haulers and miners is just petty and gutless. If they really consider themselves anti-pirates, take out the pirates so that miners won't have to pay them! It's like police killing a pizza delivery boy for a store that has to pay the mafia to stay alive rather than taking on the mafia themselves, just maybe the wrong approach

Edited by: Omega Man on 18/07/2004 23:25:10 well once you start paying the police rather than imagining it is a free service you are getting maybe they will listen to you.
As has been pointed out in a previous post, they did not attack you for a while.
Maybe they were seeing if the pirates were going too, they did not.
Conclusion, you were friends with the pirates. Result anti-pirate corp kills you.
As you say, what stops the pirates mining there themselves, the answer is nothing if the mining groups are not killed.
Shame the pirates did not leap to your defence after taking your isk, but i suppose you did not pay them for that.
You pick a side out there, there are no neutrals.

Hey, I would have rather paid the "police" to look out for pirates, but I didn't see any pirates in the belt we were mining in, as I warped in to haul ore one of our ships was under attack, so I started to warp out. Almost straight away I got shot at before I could complete the jump and destroyed. It wasn't as if I had been there for more than 10-15 seconds after warping in to be attacked. I certainly did not provoke any attack, was simply attacked because I had a defenceless ship, take out the weak first and all. I'm sure everyone would much rather have paid a police style service to protect us from pirates.
