Oh, and 10 peeps together for each team.
Again, you're limiting your ideas for the race as being purely faster than your opponent.
THINK! If you fear blockades, you'd best prepare for it. And speed is not the only way to break through a blockade . . .
Good times will always be remembered. Sleep well, old friends. |

Sinist,
You're creating a mountain out of a molehill.
Nobody cares that blockades could be setup - it will just make things more exciting.
Nobody cares that the biggest corporotions, in your opinion anyway, have the best chance of winning - this IS a massively multi-player game, after all.
Chances are the race will be Empire-based which means to Mob. Warp. Disruptors and the route is likely to be modular and announced only at the start of each stage.

Quote: The routes haven't been announced - this isn't feesable for any corporation at this stage - how can you plan to block something you don't know where it is? Wink
Well the handful of chokepoints into 0.0 space are camped every single day by each alliance. Unless most of the universe discludes 0.0 space, alliances just have to do their same old camping routine, but maybe with a few more smartbomb'ageddons.
Not to mention that the number of routes and chokepoints between 0.0 regions are limited and well-known by every alliance, and any blob heading in the direction of these chokepoints(event or just an enemy fleet) will be blockaded to high-heaven.
For those who live in 0.0, we know our space pretty well. We can predict what direction a blob may be moving from many jumps in advance, and where to intercept it. Whether it's a battleship fleet or a frigate gank-squad, alliances deal with these things everyday. Unless the event team is making agreements with each alliance or planning GM intervention for the race, I don't see how your championship will be any different than the normal traffic that is ganked when entering 0.0 space.
I'm not doubting the event team, I'm just bringing this to your attention so that it may not become a problem for your event in the future.

Here's an idea.....
What about if you don't announce the route ever?
Instead each billboard will advise you what the next system is? The GM's only need to track the front runners and turn the board *on* when they are reaching that system or keep it a couple in front. That way if people want to waste time in trying to set-up a blockade and just hope their system is on the route they can?
Make the billboards do something useful rather than just be criminally flagged everywhere. Would also introduce other tactics as people couldn't just leave it on auto-pilot not that they would with instas anyway, teams could relay information back to those behind so that they don't have to stop to read the next destination.
Just one idea? Kel

Sinist, I've organised and taken part in several races in my career as racing organiser for DUI Racing, and I can tell you now that blockades are easilly passable if you can get the speed that's possible in ships like frigates and Interceptors (preferably Interceptors). I've passed through several blockades in my Taranis, because their ships have too little time available for them to lock onto my ship and make an attack that's effective enough to stop me. Maybe you'll get hit by a smart-bomb, but that will really just reduce your shields and maybe a bit of your armour. Races like this one have been pretty successful before, what's to stop this one from being successful this time?
Besides, this is a CCP event, so they may probably change the system a little to accomodate for the race, such as having police patrols at the checkpoints or something.
Don't be a pessimist this early on in the creation of a promising race, k? ---------------------

There is one question I'd like to ask though...is there gonna be a background as to how the corporations are preparing for this event and what this race will achieve for them? Would make things easier for us non-caldari to pick the corp they want to represent... ---------------------

Ever tried using 2 MWDs you muppet? I've ran through dozens of blockades using standard frigates with 2 MWDs. Geez, you don't really understand speed, do you? ---------------------

Muppet? Thats trolling. Take a break from forum.
Yeah and how fast do you go? Like maybe 10km/s - 20km/s or so.
Put down 10 or so mobile warp disruptors around gate. Thats means youw ould have to MWD about 50-100km or more depending on where the mobile warp disruptors were. Thats enought ime to get your dual MWDing ship locked, webified, smartbombed, shot, dronified.
