I had this happen to me yesterday. Cap was at about 30% and my LAR deactivated with the not enough cap message. I was in a mission at the time.
Turned it back on and all was good.

Jump through a stargate - Yes Jump Clone - No Assembled my Ship - Yes First time since patch - No
I bought a small frigate, assembled it, and ran to jita with it. Somewhere inbetween systems it started to not show the cap right. (couldnt make a long warp but the graphic showed the warp only took half)

CCP Tanis I had just assable my ship when i first noticed the problem. After first assemble i always test it out for "real" (in-game), and tried to use up all my cap and see if it syncs with what EFT says.
The problem is that your "capstatus" gets compressed somehow, but if ur capstable from the beginning it wont happend even with this problem, ofc.
But anyways... Good thing, my problem is gone! After server restart today my cap works just fine :))))

I have the same problem several times. I did not go trough stargate, or assembled ship or anything like that. last time this happen I had just jump cloned but I dont think I had the other time this happend. I had over 35% dislplayed left of cap when module turned off cos it said there where no cap. I had room agro and just managed to warp out at 20% hull fitted for over a bil. Im running a acer laptop windows vista home premium(6.0, built 6001) intel(r) core 2duo 2.0 ghz 2046mb ram page file 1231 used 3096 avalible graphiccard is nvidia gforce 8600 gt approx. total memory: 1008mb
As I said this has happend several times and now almost cost me my mission ship I have been working on since I started the game. So I hope this get fixed asap

I have the same problem with my cap...the rly strange thing is it only happens roughly between 13:00 till 16:00 CET. Never had any problems on any other time...tested this for 3 days in a row, at morning, afternoon and evening...
I tried all the solutions posted on this forum, with no effect. I tested it on 2 different computers, both showed the same bug.
Could someone pls verify the time scheme this bug seems to have? |

I didnŠt touch my bios or my cache, i didnŠt change a single thing, nevertheless right now my cap indication is back to normal
I will check again tommorow afternoon, to confirm the time theory.

Same here. core duo 8500/asus p5q se2/4 gb corsar/geforce 260 win xp sp2 It evolves from another problem: if I am lost connection to the server - I can't relogin some time (stuck in last screen loading). After about 5-15 mins waiting/trying to log/clearing cache I am at least logging but usually have this problem. Heh, leading this "happy life" since last patch. |

Lost a command ship to this bug, so i though I'd throw my stats on the pile:
AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 (toledo dual core) Abit KN8-SLI (Nforce 4 chipset) Nvidia geforce 8800 GTS
running windows xp pro 64bit, ship fit and client install had been in place for at least a week, the bug started after about 20 min of combat that started right after entering a dead space complex.
I was running 2 clients on the same computer in windowed mode. |

Yes, that sounds familiar. When encoutering probs with the cap, i couldnt see the time bar just overhead the capacitor/shield/armor/structure indication, while i was jammed. (i am not sure, but i think i could see it flickering for a second though.. ) |

When you folks first noticed this, what had been going on at the time?
I.E.
Did you jump through a stargate, or use a jumpclone, or recently assemble your ship, or patched EVE for the first time since the latest patch was put out.
I first noticed this problem when I was flying a phobos in a level 4 mission to help out some random guy a couple jumps out from Nakri.
I was at 30-40% capacitor but the game client kept shutting off my guns, afterburner, and repairer and telling me I was out of capacitor. In point of fact my capacitor gauge never dropped below 30% despite me using 5 T2 neutron blasters (or maybe ion, antimatter ammo either way), a 10mn Afterburner II, and a Medium Armor Repairer II with 3 hardeners fairly heavily *and* having an NPC battleship using those lovely "old school drain your cap until it hits 0 because CCP apparently doesn't believe that NPCs should be updated to match player mechanics" vampires on me.
Frankly, I rather imagine that it was the vampire(s? single ship so...) that nuked my cap but regardless of what did it I didn't find out I was empty until I got that lovely voice saying, "The capacitor is empty." Thank the gods I had my audio on at the time since I was tanking 4 battleships and couldn't possibly notice the text notification.
This happened a week or two ago, before the most recent patch and a couple weeks after the previous one, and it happened with a ship that had been assembled for almost a month.
For whatever it's worth, I'm running a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard which uses VIA chipsets and I've got an ATI (x1650, built by Diamond) video card plugged into it. ____________________

Confirming I've also had this happen to me just last week. It only lasted for about 2 days and even stranger was only on my Curse. I can't really say any specific circumstances other then I tried testing out my Curse on a corpmate and I was 'capping out' at 50% on several attempts throughout a 2 day period. All other ships and my mates seemed to be unaffected. I suspect this was a random client-side bug, not a server side one.
Strangest thing I've seen. Needless to say I didn't use my Curse for a day or two and the bug mysteriously disappeared. |

Happened to me one day after the patch was put out. Using a stargate doesn't seem to matter for this bug. I switched to another ship, which was assembled a long time ago, but the capacitor bug was still in effect. I haven't used a jumpclone on this char yet. |

I have the same problem when the cap is at 40% I get announcement than the cap is empty. I have also had this problem with the shield, using a passive shield tank, when the shield still has more than 20% left the armor starts to take damage. Both problems started very recently. |

I'm having the same issues, what a nightmare! I have noticed though, my PVP Raven, that has no cap boosters/cap rechargers will run the cap all the way to empty with the MWD on. Unlike my Ishkur and PVE Raven, that use boosters/rechargers, and bum out at about 40%. My Alts Domi does the same 40% cap thingy, I use a laptop/xp/classic and a PC/vista/premium, both machines run with the same issues.
OMG pls help, this is killing my game |

Edited by: Taybon on 06/02/2009 08:14:51 I was having issues similar to those described: my shield booster would deactivate while the cap readout said I was at 50% cap. Also, the activation cooldowns on my missile launchers were screwed up, as well: they would start already 60% full, then loop all the way around back to 60% before the launchers would re-activate. The actual cooldown duration was correct, the starting point was just off. something I found interesting, the shield booster cooldown indicator didn't seem to be affected, though it could just be because the duration is so low.
Repackaging the ship and all modules did nothing. Clearing the cache (and thus restarting the client) did nothing. However, after reading this thread (and specifically this link), I checked my system time: The last synchronization was 4 days ago, about a day or so before I started noticing the issues.
I synchronized the system time, logged back in, and sure enough the capacitor readout was accurate again and the cooldown indicators start at 0% again. It might be worth noting I had been offline for about half an hour when I thought to check the system time, which may or may not have had an impact. If the problems come back in the next few days, I'll make another post, but for now things seem to be fine for me at least.

Nice jobs on discovering that thing with the cooldown indicators, I am getting that too but it never occured to me that it could be linked with the cap indicator problem. Guess I'll try this time synch thing too now, though that kinda sucks since I usually have my comp clock be slightly ahead in time on purpose... And if you are reading this, you have arrived at the signature without noticing...

Edited by: Joe Martin on 07/02/2009 11:18:34 Happened to me on two seperate occasions today:
First was a fleet engagement in a crusader. Capped out while the indicator displayed 20-30%ish cap left.
Second time it happened in a claw during a small engagement on a gate. Same deal.

The problem is intermittant and there seems to be no sure way of reproducing it. I believe it's a sync/lag issue between a proxy and the rest of the cluster or proxy and client. Been talking to friends and other things noticed are....
Wrecks appearing far from where the ship was destroyed. Hostile (playor) fleet appearing 120km away and being unable to warp away. |

Tried using a clean install of EVE on another PC (Intel based rather than AMD based), exactly the same is happening. My cap seems to be holding at 90% when its actually empty. It looks like the client thinks my modules only use 1 capacitor each - every time my shield booster/armor repper/scanner/guns cycle, cap readout only decreases by 1 unit rather than however much it is meant to use (10+).
Also noticed a massive desync yesterday when I was flying the same ship, launched my drones, and they appeared in space 65km away from where my ship was. Not sure if this was at the same time the cap issue started happening but it was within +/- an hour or two.
Tried the obvious - unfitting and refitting modules, leaving ship and boarding again, relogging, etc. etc. Still there... Ended up at 1/3rd structure once when I went afk to get some tea without realising my cap wasn't holding stable when it looked like it was.
Quote: Did you jump through a stargate, or use a jumpclone, or recently assemble your ship, or patched EVE for the first time since the latest patch was put out.
Jumped through at least 20 stargates yesterday before it happened and at least another 20 since. Not used a jumpclone, ship was assembled weeks ago. No change to my EVE patches since the day the last one came out, plus tried a different install/another PC and same thing is happening.
Oh, whoever mentioned about it off by a factor of 10, seems to be right. Whever I run a shield booster that is supposed to take 12 cap, the readout drops by one, run a remote rep that is supposed to take 54 cap, the readout shows my capacitor charge reduced by 5. A neut that takes 40 cap makes mine go down by 4.

Happening to me too. Was just doing a mission one system over but had been in system a while (2nd room of worlds collide. (On the plus side, overseer dropped a true sansha heavy neut)). Setup probably changed a bit recently, but the ship has been assembled for ages. No jumpcloning or patching recently. Have now fitted cap booster - hope this is fixed soon!

Both my ships/accounts are still bugged.
Also, it looks like my drone shield recharge and my ship shield recharge are also now bugged - drones window shows their shield at 30% and never recharges, yet if I target the drone I can see it's recharged fine. My ships shield indicator hovers at 10% even though I'm armor tanking and well into armor...
