That is very surprising, (1) since the new client that we will release tomorrow was tested on Multiplicity and (2) the current Singularity client is just the Tranquility client.
I got the same result,(sisi being better than tranqility) but it may have been my settings and the fact that usualy I just ran one client when I poked my nose into Sisi

This new PLEX redeeming system looks interesting. Because of it it might become somewhat easier, faster, and more convenient for people to buy PLEXes, which might in turn lower the prices in game. Maybe we'll even see 30 day prices at 180 mil like they used to be? (I'm dreaming here, I know)

Edited by: Thorin Al on 26/01/2009 18:57:13 They can't go down to 180M. Well, they -could- but I doubt there are that many ******ed people selling them.
PLEX prices are driven by ISK prices. A PLEX will continue to cost about $12-$15 worth of Isk.
I've yet to see a game curb inflation. As ISK prices go down, you'll see PLEX's going for 500M+ and beyond.
*edit* Seriously, for one of the harsher games out right now, I did -not- just see the censor go off on the definition of Forrest Gump, did I? uhg. |

Why not just ask CCP to legalize the purchasing of isk online, or better yet, have them undo the speed nerv.
Game is good the way it is. I got a golem myself and if you have your support skills up then the explosion velocity thing aint so bad |

I think the game balance is good as well, but there are some remaining balance issues that really should be looked at.
And the numbers don't lie, cruise missile velocity is too low.

PLEX redeeming system,
Can you explain how this redeem system works for the slower ones like me =) Are you adding an ingame store or using a current system. It sounds like a reward system, what do we need to redeem these? Isk, rewards, loyalty points, MIlita rewards?

The PLEXes that you buy this way are the same as when you convert an ETC to PLEX. Exact same items and usage.
So we still have to travel to lowsec or higher to take advantage of these?
Any chance of allowing plexes to work in 0.0 stations? We understand the risk of losing access to the station, that's what the "Marketing" skill is for.

Would this be the check for a DirectX 9.0c DLL even when DirectX 10 is installed?
Not likely, DX10 is not backward compatible. Even Vista installations require DX9 to be installed.
/Riv
umm yeah it is when you run a dx9 game a subset of dx10 dubbed dx9.0l is loaded installing dx9 on vista does nothing since the dx installer only updates older files

Your credit card.
Currently you can buy an ETC code and convert it in-game into a PLEX (and use it or sell it for ISK or items).
With this new system you can buy a PLEX directly on CCP's web site and redeem it in-game (redeem, claim, get, obtain, have delivered). You can then use it (apply to your account) or sell it for ISK or items.

It's good to see that you guys are actually starting to sell PLEX'es yourself. Ever since you guys first approached us about the new PLEX system I have requested this very thing.
Good stuff. Looking forward to tomorrow |

FFXI curbed inflation once; it crashed the economy. suddenly, spending currency on player created items wasn't worth doing because currency was too valuable (spent on important endgame events). The game still hasn't really recovered afaik.
EVE on the other hand has a slightly different problem: significant currency sources (ratting, missioning) with only one real significant currency sink (market fee structure). there's a few other minor sinks (empire war-dec fees, insurance contracts that expire, skill books, etc) but generally speaking more currency is entering than leaving and it'll mostly never be spent on the sinks if it suddenly became terribly valuable.
Overall, I think EVE is actually pretty healthy, measured by the slight deflation of most non-mineral staple goods; in other MMOs item value deflation is due to massive item surplus - which is uncommon in EVE due to how readily all items are destroyed.
and mineral inflation is a -good- thing. (if you feel that there's too much currency in the system, then you want mining to be more profitable than ratting or missioning, to reduce the rate that new currency enters the market) although this is a tangled problem because low end mission rewards are often turned into minerals before being sold.

I've seen a game go from disposible equipment to equipment lasting indefinatly, and it was one of the most pathetic downward spirals I've ever seen.
While getting blown up and having to go hunt down -everything- again is a pain, it is an aspect I miss. I don't want to die, not only is it a shot to the nads, it's a shot to the wallet. Means a bit more in my books.

I'm curious what other sorts of things you can Redeem for in the future. I'm sure players will be up in arms if you can give CCP fifty bucks directly and fly away in a brand new Dreadnaught. But I think it'd be neat to go the way of some asian games and let you buy cosmetic things for cash.
I'd splash out a few bucks on a paint kit to tint the texture of my charon blue.

Edited by: John Hollow on 26/01/2009 22:08:37 STEAM VERSION FIX? Will you also fix the steam version this patch? I recommended this game to two of my friends and they both could not install the game. It gave a warning because of "extra files" in the game when trying to launch. I just reformatted my pc so had a chance to try this myself and indeed the steam download does not work at all. I was able to fix it myself, but my friends didn't want to go to the trouble of manually fixing a problem so they were a couple of lost customers. Their trial version has already expired as well.
Steam version has been broken ever since the last patch....

I forgot to ask earlier, but you will be selling the 30 day plexs. So, how much will the cost? will you be charging $15 for 1 30day plex? or $34 for 2 plex cards? Will you be selling them only in pairs to match current offerings? or are you bringing back the 30 day code sales (in essence)? Also, even if you aren't selling single cards and only in pairs, will you be selling at the same cost as etc retailers? or will you be undercutting them?

So far no one has asked....
"Will pilots be able to use a plex from inventory, if the account gets locked? (for expired accounts)"
IE, you login one day to find your account locked, can you log into the eve-online website, access your account and use a plex from your inventory, after the account is locked?

you select it by being in it. you don't need to be at the station to use the plex to add gametime, it can be done from the assets window.

From a technical perspective then the Redeeming System is a general purpose system to deliver items to characters. There were two major use cases that we had in mind when developing this system. The first one was the PLEX, an item that a player buys from the web site, and the second was "snowballs and snowball launchers", i.e., items that CCP gives to players as a part of an event. There are no plans to allow players to buy dreadnoughts, that is not the intended usage of this system.

What about cost. Will you be selling single 30 day cards, or in pairs only? If in singles, how much will they be?
