I've had the bug, and found that if you wait about 20 sec after pausing the skill your currently training the bug does not affect the jump. Seems to be if you jump immediately after pausing the skill. So, try waiting a minimum of 20 sec and see if that works for you. |

Will try next time, but I recall in my case it has to do with how long since I logged in I try clonejump. If I clonejump just after logging in, no problems usually. If I have been around for a while doing stuff, no dice.

Sheesh... first greatly pleasantly surprised, as I though the Redeeming System would have something to do with a way of getting out of the -5.0 faction standing "black holes", that have been messing up life for many players over the years.
Instead it is yet another Marketing gimmick.

No, we moved the check from the client into the installer and patcher but the old code leaked back into the client so we were checking twice. We removed the check from the client so now it's only the installer and patcher that check the DirectX version. |

So, we can buy plexs directly from ccp? Meaning we don't need to go threw 3rd party vendors? Do you guys not like your vendors anymore? Or am i totally misunderstanding this. When you say buy from ccp, do you mean with isk or with real money?

This new PLEX redeeming system looks interesting. Because of it it might become somewhat easier, faster, and more convenient for people to buy PLEXes, which might in turn lower the prices in game. Maybe we'll even see 30 day prices at 180 mil like they used to be? (I'm dreaming here, I know)

PLEX prices are driven by ISK prices. A PLEX will continue to cost about $12-$15 worth of Isk.
I've yet to see a game curb inflation. As ISK prices go down, you'll see PLEX's going for 500M+ and beyond.

So we still have to travel to lowsec or higher to take advantage of these?
Any chance of allowing plexes to work in 0.0 stations? We understand the risk of losing access to the station, that's what the "Marketing" skill is for.

umm yeah it is when you run a dx9 game a subset of dx10 dubbed dx9.0l is loaded installing dx9 on vista does nothing since the dx installer only updates older files

FFXI curbed inflation once; it crashed the economy. suddenly, spending currency on player created items wasn't worth doing because currency was too valuable (spent on important endgame events). The game still hasn't really recovered afaik.
EVE on the other hand has a slightly different problem: significant currency sources (ratting, missioning) with only one real significant currency sink (market fee structure). there's a few other minor sinks (empire war-dec fees, insurance contracts that expire, skill books, etc) but generally speaking more currency is entering than leaving and it'll mostly never be spent on the sinks if it suddenly became terribly valuable.
Overall, I think EVE is actually pretty healthy, measured by the slight deflation of most non-mineral staple goods; in other MMOs item value deflation is due to massive item surplus - which is uncommon in EVE due to how readily all items are destroyed.
and mineral inflation is a -good- thing. (if you feel that there's too much currency in the system, then you want mining to be more profitable than ratting or missioning, to reduce the rate that new currency enters the market) although this is a tangled problem because low end mission rewards are often turned into minerals before being sold.

I've seen a game go from disposible equipment to equipment lasting indefinatly, and it was one of the most pathetic downward spirals I've ever seen.
While getting blown up and having to go hunt down -everything- again is a pain, it is an aspect I miss. I don't want to die, not only is it a shot to the nads, it's a shot to the wallet. Means a bit more in my books.

I'm curious what other sorts of things you can Redeem for in the future. I'm sure players will be up in arms if you can give CCP fifty bucks directly and fly away in a brand new Dreadnaught. But I think it'd be neat to go the way of some asian games and let you buy cosmetic things for cash.

Edited by: John Hollow on 26/01/2009 22:08:37 STEAM VERSION FIX? Will you also fix the steam version this patch? I recommended this game to two of my friends and they both could not install the game. It gave a warning because of "extra files" in the game when trying to launch. I just reformatted my pc so had a chance to try this myself and indeed the steam download does not work at all. I was able to fix it myself, but my friends didn't want to go to the trouble of manually fixing a problem so they were a couple of lost customers. Their trial version has already expired as well.
Steam version has been broken ever since the last patch....

Will you be selling them only in pairs to match current offerings? or are you bringing back the 30 day code sales (in essence)? Also, even if you aren't selling single cards and only in pairs, will you be selling at the same cost as etc retailers? or will you be undercutting them?

But I think it'd be neat to go the way of some asian games and let you buy cosmetic things for cash.
From a technical perspective then the Redeeming System is a general purpose system to deliver items to characters. There were two major use cases that we had in mind when developing this system. The first one was the PLEX, an item that a player buys from the web site, and the second was "snowballs and snowball launchers", i.e., items that CCP gives to players as a part of an event. There are no plans to allow players to buy dreadnoughts, that is not the intended usage of this system.

What about cost. Will you be selling single 30 day cards, or in pairs only? If in singles, how much will they be?

I recommended this game to two of my friends and they both could not install the game. It gave a warning because of "extra files" in the game when trying to launch. I just reformatted my pc so had a chance to try this myself and indeed the steam download does not work at all. I was able to fix it myself, but my friends didn't want to go to the trouble of manually fixing a problem so they were a couple of lost customers. Their trial version has already expired as well.
Steam version has been broken ever since the last patch....
Can you tell me what the names are of the extra files that are being reported by the client please.

That is very surprising, (1) since the new client that we will release tomorrow was tested on Multiplicity and (2) the current Singularity client is just the Tranquility client.
I got the same result,(sisi being better than tranqility)
I also thought that the most recent Singularity client patch saw it running noticeably better than Tranquility. Sad to hear I have been imagining things.

Having to log out of the game everytime I clone jump is really annoying.
I used to get a JC bug where i would stay in station for ages(5+ minutes). FYI, resolved it by exiting my ship before jump, and the jump is then almost instant, everytime. |

why dont u just download the client directly from eve-online website.... it has more advantages over using steam version
1. steam version wont allow 2 clients to run at same time ccp version does 2. steam version plagued with patching errors 3. ccp version client requires less system resources to run (steam running in background uses resources) |

Well despite it being an excellent move on CCP's part, I still don't see a price mentioned yet! despite several requests from posters, it hasn't been addressed. I'm wary of this if its going to be more than half the cost of a current 60-day GTC ($17.50) because being UK based, the game is getting beyond affordable now with the current exchange rate. I can just afford to play now but any more increases then its over for me. No! u can't has mi stuffs! |

I tried to move the last few PLEXs I had and still have one on the market. Apparently, very few wanted to buy even though the price has dropped some and I priced mine to sell.
I hope I don't log in and find my last PLEX priced three times higher than the going rate.
Over all, I think I like the new system as It has been described and unless it was published whilst I penned this, we still don't have the price disclosed. I'm glad CCP found a way for what sounds like instant delivery instead of sending the cute litte scratch off cards via DHL. I slid one of them into the molding of my side window and occasionally get a honk, smile and a thumbs up from another driver.
Thanks

M10 is undoubtedly going to be large, but I am hoping that these extra large files are going to include some form of system-allocation to the 'fleet battle blades' so that Factional Warfare can be fixed, as some of the delays now are game-breaking.
I am hoping that the busiest Black Rise systems (and the corresponding region between Amarr / Minmatar) are placed on these blades. Even if there is some kind of 'top 10' approach, that is used to allocate using data on ships and pods destroyed in the past x hours or days, would be a major improvement.
