Edited by: Naomi Knight on 24/02/2009 17:34:45 Is it only me who finds it strange that the caldari component gives much less capacitor than the other races ,even 15% less than the minmatar? I see no reason why the minmatar should get more capacitor than the caldari.

I know CCP is still considering deducting Skill Points from charactors when they lose their T3 ships. How about this instead:
Put the T3 ships on the Industrial skillpath rather than the combat skill path. This way the players who will get into these ships first will be those players who have gone up the industrial and invention skill trees.
This would do a couple of things:
- It helps balance the ships. CCP has stuggled with ship balance for years and the introduction ot T3 ships is probably going to overlap with HACs. If the T3 ships and T2 ships are on different skill trees the ships don't overlap as much.
- It induces a cost IN TIME in training for these ships. That's what CCP is after by considering deleting skill points when a player loses their lego ship.
- It gives care-bears some real claws
- It makes sense: You have to build your ship and it takes advantage of high-tech skills such as thermodynamics.
This way those players who first start using them will be the industrialists. Not just those players who are already uber rich and sitting around with a faction fleet at their disposal.
Just a thought.

No offense, but industrial skills have nothing to do with combat skills. there would be no way to justify why tacticle cruiser requires indy 5..... its a combat ship. it has combat skill requirements. it is not an industrial ship, so therefor it should not have indy skills. You don't need indy V to fire a blastar.
I am still waiting to see if they change the slot configurations. asit stands the only tech II resistance boat you can get for gallante is fail. Maximum 5 low slots.... or 8 mids. 8 mids is nice but you start with 1250 shields. that is fail. All of the defensive modules should be tech II resistance. period. they should be hard to kill. No more damage than a hac... no more EW than a recon. If your doing both (which as i understand it, these are multirole ships) then you should be OK at both. they should have Tech II tanks. its kind of pathetic that the only way to beat most cruisers now is to use hornet EC 300s so they can't lock back and slowly pick away at a tech 1 tank. that is kind of unacceptable for a cruiser that is lated to be worth more than tech II ones... what is the justification for buying them.
On the other hand, the skill loss is awsome. don't fight with it if your afraid to loose it. I 100 /sigh that idea. especially if the config is fail unless you have at least level 3, OK if you have level 4, but really doesn't shine until you have level 5. that is a great aspect of the new ships.Oh, and one more thing about the engines.... there is no point in having 3, becuase well at this point we say bigger isnt better, but faster is. and there are no differences on the engines other than speed. why ever use the slower one? maybe more slots on the slower one? and less on the faster one? I dunno but maybe. that would sure be nice.

Has anybody found a good looking setup for the proteus? Every single combo i've tried results in a poor looking mismatch of random shapes. I wouldnt mind if it was ugly and designed well but at the moment it just looks like its been poorley designed.
The legion on the other hand is awsome!! I played around with it and there is such a variety of shapes that all seemlessly flow into each other and create a ship that looks like a whole ship rather then 5 random bits stuck end on end.

I was under the impression that there were going to be 5 variations of each subsystem per race. Looking at the list of bonuses, there now appears to be only 3. Have they been permanently done away with? Do some share the same bonuses but have varying slots/ stats? Also, how's the Tengu? Any thoughts on the possibility of it increasing the Caldaris' pvp viability?

2 subsystems for each ship will be added on a later date, the tengu currently sucks as it has very low cpu.

I would agree that most permutations of the Proteus are somewhat less visually appealing than the other strategic cruisers (especially the Legion, which is stunning). The deciding factor seems to be whichever subsystem makes up the nosepiece of the ship. 2 of the 3 are decent enough looking and aesthetically acceptable designs can be derived from them. However, there's a third which looks like the front of a commercial push mower that is unredeemably ugly. also that one module that looks like a big green handle on the back of the ship isn't particularly pleasing either. At this point in time I've yet to see many gallente ships that don't have 1 or 2 uncolored or untextured modules. Perhaps they will look better in their finished forms. I'll give CCP the benefit of the doubt that the matte green modules aren't finished.
