I suspect this is one of the ephemeral advantages of having the "Batman Hotline", there are simply things that can not be easily tested and are not in any way documented that a dev could talk you through with little difficulty. The hard part is being friends with a dev.
I'm not going to say BoB haxploit, I'm going to say that the POS and Sovereignty system is dog**** with very little documentation. |

IMHO I almost think its time to admit that the entire POS + Sovereignty system is a failure. Does anyone remember the days before it, I'm not saying station pong was better but you didn't see these sorts of extreme measures being necessary to cause any movement in the politicial.military situation.
Frankly I think that the best solution is to make towers more versatile, a little cheaper to keep and a lot easier to kill. And FFS get rid of the damn POS Shield mechanic, binary systems of certain death/absolute safety only lead to gridlock.
If I had my way you'd be able to plant a tower wherever you want. but it wouldn't have a "bubble" shield and all of its assets would be vulnerable.
Ideally you'd be able to plant towers on gates and stations and use that to hold territory. GO back to the Station shield system, but allow players to use the existing POS structures in the proximity of their stations. (put an interface mechanic into effect so you cant throw 100 towers near a station)
But thats a discussion for the features and ideas forum. |

CCP Tanis knows about it, back in October when he forgot to pay his alliance bill and Tanis. Alliance closed. On 2008.10.21 when he recreated it his new alliance claimed SOV at DT. The EVE Manual (if you can call it that) is simply wrong, along the same lines of ghost training |

Yet former BoB corp poses are claiming sov after first DT in new alliance, what's up with dat ;d i saw dianabolic saying on scrapheap that he'd been sure it would work this way..? CCP are terrible c/c
seems like an inauspicious start for a new alliance reputationwise really , but obviously not TAFKAB's fault that sov mechanics are buggy and dumb

This is how it has always worked with this sov system. It is working different than it is supposed to, and it has not been fixed because this is the first time it has actually mattered. |

Fact that for 1 day corp was not in alliance onlly means your tower cant contribute to soverenity but fact remains tower is up and clik to claim sov; so as soon as the missing element is back (being in alliance - sov goes back)
I agree on that one. What i haven't figured out yet (maybe i need to look through more topics) is how ex-BOB corps have been able to join an alliance while they were supposed to be wardecked. It seems CCP cancelled the wardecks but why? These wardecks looked like a smart (though borderline) use of the game mechanics. |

Old news is old. The sov mechanics on pos have always operated cumulatively.
Which means I can drop a pos in nowhereville, pure blind, leave it run for a month, go in one day and create a new alliance, and BAM! Sov after downtime.
This is well known in the sov game and was totally expected by anyone that has been involved with it for more than a few days.
Now the fact that the website has never really had any of the sov mechanics written down properly is absolutely true and I figured someone would point it out. However, you catching it surprises me. |

This was not a surprise to anyone no matter what ccp's web site says. The important thing is that sov 3 and 4 is broken almost everywhere in delve, which means the defender has no advantage in an invasion for at least a month.

The simple fact is CCP has NEVER applied the rules to EVERYONE in the game equally. What is allowed and fine for one corp/alliance on Monday is a bannable issue or removed for tne next.
Sov mechanics are supposed to be 7 days from the time you are IN an alliance and click the button on the tower. Otherwise you could run all over the place dropping towers that wouldn't show up on the map for mths, form an alliance and own 1/2 the freaking map. There is no way this is what was intended.
However I am sure as far as CCP goes its not a bug its just a new "feature" as intended.

Yeah, I'd be really, really, really surprised if anyone in GBC or GOONC leadership thought it wasn't a 24 hour outage.
