Edited by: Caiman Graystock on 08/02/2009 21:11:25 This has just been confirmed on EVE TV... twice per year you can re-spec your attributes, coming next expansion.

Sorry but I have spent 5 years with my charisma as my big handicap (yes i started with very high charisma) and to change my character attributes would be awesome but ffs I dont want to because I belive that it falls into the metagaming ****er category. Sadly when I bought the game as my first MMO i thought charisma would be useful lolz
I recognise that Viqer has **** attributes but i have spent 5 years with him. Screw the meta gaming freaks who think that re-speccing is good. It goes against the very spirit of the game.

Hmm... now, it depends... HOW exactly can you respec them ? Because I'm aching for a 39/0/0/0/0 character I mean, seriously, I *do* have half a year of skills I'd like trained in just about any primary attribute, so, hells yeah. Hooray to min-maxing from now on !
Fake P.S. : Of course, I'll bet it's just "redistribute your 5 custom skillpoints", HAH !
Real P.S. : As much as I'll love the benefits I'll be reaping, I have to admit the idea is "FAILSAUCE".

Implants are capped at +5. Good. Ghost training was removed. Fine. There is no useful skill queue system in sight. Not so fine. CCP clearly has no intention to streamline peoples' ability to character farm, or so I'd have thought until this skill re-speccing proposal.
I'd support a limited ability to fix a character's attributes, but the twice a year figure seems excessive. Those of us who only have one functional character may not have known what they were doing when they made it, but didn't realize they didn't know what they were doing until long after simply rerolling the character ceased to be a rational option. Guilty, although the generally even spread of my attributes probably hasn't hurt me much in terms of time lost. It's only been in the last year when I developed a skill plan approaching any appreciable degree of specialization.

Why have attributes at all then?
Attributes make no sense if you can respec them to have them at maximum for what you are skilling at the moment.
Bad move CCP.

So I didn't mis-hear? I thought for sure my ears were tricking me.
This is such a horrible idea. I just had to listen to one of the CEO's in Teamspeak rant on why this is a bad idea for the last 15 minutes, and I have to say I agree. EVE is a universe where your actions actually have consequences, and being able to just go in and fix yourself as a matter of course, even if it's limited to twice a year, is just stupid.

Why should it matter? It's a stupid system that just gets in the way. Implants are good though. More isk -> faster training
Horrible info @ character creation leading to gimped training for the rest of the game is bad design

I could have sworn yesterday that about the same time the attribute respec was mentioned, a skill queue was coming in Apocrypha as well. __________________________________

It only covers 24 hours windows of time. Useful for new players or people branching out who need to train a bunch of skills that take a couple of hours. It's a start but I'm still rooting for the addition of an unlimited queue that stays active as long as the subscription is active.

You can queue up 23 hours 59mins in skills and then drop on this three year deathstar operation 5 in the end to get trained after those 24 hours. At least that's how I understood it from the dev interviews.
This will allow you to queue in your next skill when your current skill is finishing while you're asleep/at work whatever.

It's all about making the world warm and fuzzy, CCP only cares about two things, and one of them is new subs, if you listened there were lots of new things they wanted to add, all very WOW'esqe new player friendly stuff that sorta kicks the older players in the nuts a bit sometimes cause they never had it as good.
I had to reroll personally after 3 months in, that's how crap my attributes were.

It should be possible to re-spec the attributes only once, and only those 5 attributes you got to change when you created the character. That would make the failing on making your character when new to the game less harmful and it would ruin anything in game. It would be win-win. |

I'd just like to second the post above me.
The devs worry me though, if the stuff isn't already coming, for my tastes at least I think there's some really crap content patches coming after we get past the highs of Apocrypha and Ambulation. |

dude, it's going to be those 5 points you spend.
so like you can put 3 more into something and then 2 to something else.
it's not like you can change race and background. |

He said "...like at character creation..." which kinda implies that it's only those 5 points you can distribute then. If it's limited to that this feature is actually quite tame. |
