Thanks a lot, dude :) This guide is a massive help to me! I've only been playing for a couple of days and I'm finding it all very, very confusing at the moment!

k, so i bought a Vigil an im happy, but how do i move the modules from my newbie ship to my new one? when i try to do it outside a spacestation it says i have to be in the station, and when im in the station my GUI for the ship disappears.
oh, an can i sell my newbie ship? theres no SELL button in the Market..and although i see others with newbie ships for sale i dont know how they got them up there.
id like to keep my +5%hold if i can..or at least sell my ship to equip my new Vigil. can someone pls explain this to me? its not in ANY of the guides or forums.

I moved on to a Rifter yesterday, but heres how I did with my Vigil:
1 Dock your new ship (the Vigil) at the same station as the other one (Noob Ship) Both must be in the same station. Then, make your rookie ship your active one (so that it shows up in the hangar).
2 I assume that you have learned fitting from the tutorital, if not do the tutorital. Open the fitting window by pressing the fitting icon in Station Services, upper right screen. There you will see all that is fitted to your active ship. It should be Basic Miner and Basic Turret or something like that.
3 Open the stations Items Hangar, from the bottom of the left menu-row.
4 Drag the fitted obects from the fitting window to the Items Hangar, when done, close fitting window.
5 Make your Vigil your active ship, Open the Fittings window, and now, drag the ship equipment that you moved to the Items Hangar into the different slots in the fitting window. Since your active ship is now your Vigil, it will be the Vigil that you equip.
6 When you have draged everything you wanted, youre done!
7 Tips! a) First of all, you shouldnt even keep that equipment since it is beyond sucky. If you bought the vigil for speed, get an Afterburner ASAP (preferably not civilian but that requires some skill training). b) The Vigil was fast and cheap, as well as beeing able to carry some weapons, but it is pretty weak in combat. Mine died in the second fight, and i bought a much mightier (and currently healthier) Rifter. c) It will die, so insure it. Then you can use insurance plus savings for something bettter. d) Nobody, wants to buy your ship. NOBODY. It is the ship you will get for free everytime you die, so why pay for it? e) Feel free to contact me ingame. I don't mind helping a fellow noob.

I wanted to post a small correction for the Original Post. The Caldari Frigate "Condor" can use 3 weapons (2 missle launchers, 1 turret), not 2.

No it only has 4 high slots.
Fairly often a ship is specced such that the sum of the mountalbe units is greater than that of the Hardpoints. It is this way intentionally in order to provide flexibility.
So the rifter does only have 4 hard points, but it can fit up to 3 Turrets and up to 2 Launchers.
So you can use 3 Turrets and 1 Launcher, or 2 Turrets and 2 Launchers.
FYI - In several cases there are more Hi-Slots than there are Turret or Launcher Hardpoints! I believe the Punisher is one such Frigate that has 4 Hi-Slots, but can only mount 3 Turrets.
That extra Hi-Slot can be used for a variety of modules such as Energy Vampires/Neutralizers (NOS/Neuts) or somesuch.

Might as well put this in the Sticky:
I made a chart connecting all the ships to their skill requirements. It turned out to be a sort of Family Tree for ship classes. It's printable.

Excellent guide, a lot of great info.
One small correction in the Gallente combat frigates section (might have changed since the guide was written)...
The Tristan has 2 missile slots and 2 turret slots (4 high slots total). The Incursus is slightly faster but less well-armored and has 3 high slots for guns.

I was wondering what if a ship had no Turret or Launcher hardpoints, will it still be able to have weapon modules? I was browsing on the different ships in EVE and saw the carriers had no hardpoints at all, does this mean it can't be fitted with attack modules? Thanks.
