Hi. Okay, I am new. As in I just started the tutorial last night. Yeah, new. Anyway, i've completed the training course and I went back and docked at the State War College and put my veldspar into the 'reclaimer' or 'processor' (yes I know those aren't the right terms, but I can't remember and I am in the office right now so I can't go look it up.) Anyway, the thing telle me that it can't do anything with the minerals until I have 333units of it. HOW THE HECK DO I GET THE VELDSPARE BACK?
Does it stay there and wait for me to go grab more? Does it dissapear when I leave the station and I am just SOL, lol? Anyway, feel free to answer this here, or look for in the Tranquilety (sp?) Universe. My charater is Alexander Ramius.
Thanks!

Great info, it's been a big help to me, not only in buying and fitting my own ships, but also in understanding the capabilities of other pilot's ships. Learning that info is pretty daunting for a new player like me.

Hi I am brand new to this game and already i am stuck with the walkthrough demo, I have created my character and am working through the tutorial when it comes to the bit where I have to open the hanger door and activate my ship. see below.
"As the tutorial progresses I will gradually reveal the interface to you. The bar I just revealed on the left is called the NeoCom. From that, open our ship hangar. Before leaving the space station you need to activate our space ship and start training a skill. "
I cannot find anything in the menu bar on the left that lets me do either of these things, can anyone help please?

ships cargo bay can be opened with a double-click on your ship. the hangar bay can be opened with the "items" tab.
skills are trained under the "character" tab -> skills. right click and start training.
or else, simply click ok in the tutorial-window ;)
(slightly OT, I know ;))

Great Post helped me loads thanks m8!
hoping somebody can help me here plz
Ive decided on going down the mining route for a while to make myself some cash, ive only been playing about a week so im still picking everything up.
I bought a freighter wacked a mining laser on it, thinking that as its got a huge cargo hold i could make my money back quick - so far its slow but ive made a bit back - ive started to train mining and refining and will go for the various types of refining to maximise my cash when i bring them back to a station - but could somebody point this newbie in a general direction as to what i should/could be doing to get the best out of it plz?

Edited by: Aomori Hasuka on 03/11/2006 20:55:46 This is responding to the dude (*EDIT* Benesoto) a couple posts above me... Industrials are definitely not the best miners. Your best bet is to use the industrial to anchor giant secure cans in space near the belt you want to mine (be aware that you can only anchor in 0.7 space and below), and then use a mining cruiser or frigate to get your minerals into the cans. Then all you need to do is pick them up, and deliver to a station. As for the industry skills, try for level 3 in them, and then specialize as needed to improve your refining rates.
Hope that helps.

Overall, excellent job.
bravo
*small correction though: the Tristan has 4 spots for weapons. 2 Turrets and 2 Launchers -FATBOY FTW- - I am pretty lazy and didn't feel like sifting through 6 pages to see if anyone caught it.
Again though, nicely done.

Dang this guide is awesome. I do not believe that this guy is new in Eve, but if the person is talented, like this guy, I guess there is no point in doubting. I do like to say that this is a great guide and a very helpful one too.

Fantastic Info.. been playing for a week now.. spent about half the time reading on these boards and your info for us new players is incredible. Now.. could I ask you to take it one step forward.. and on the classes of ships "Frigates".. could you give us some basic set ups for miners and fighters for the ships you have shown??? I would like to get a GOOD Rifter set up and running for fighting.. I do like the PROBE for fast mining.. but this Rifter looks great for a fighter.. so what is a GOOD setup for that?? Also.. could you maybe explain some of the terms I see a lot in here.. like TANK... and AGGRO and such??? so much to learn and such a HUGE universe to do it in. Thanks and safe Travels Mace

Minor nitpick on laser turrets: Focusing crystals (ie, Radio S) occasionally burn out. They last a very long time, compared to other types of ammo. Exactly how long is based on random factors.
That said, most people will be past the point where small crystals are "expensive" long before the first one breaks. |

Correct
INCorrect. If you have a Hi slot, you can mount a smartbomb.

Originally by: Restrius *A Note on Launcher Types*: There are several launcher types, and some can fire multiple classes of missiles. In all cases, if a launcher can fire a missle class (light for instance) it can also fire its FoF equivalent. Here's a brief overview of launcher types:
-Rocket: These only fire rockets. They have a fast rate of fire and low system requirements. They cannot use Defender missiles, and there is no FoF Rocket at the time of this writing.
Minor correction here. I don't know when it changed, but rocket launchers can fire Defenders.

Hey guys.
I just started playing the game over the weekend, the tutorial anyway, and started to do some mining last night. I'm still using my...whatever the default ship is called, and I paln to mine my first million ISK in it before getting a new ship. I wouldn't mind getting a punisher but the cargo hold is too small. I may just get a Navista to start with. How many ships can you have?

Edited by: Ensvey on 20/12/2006 21:25:15 you can have as many ships as you can afford.
I'd advise against sticking with your free newbie ship though. Get the mining frigate for your race if you want to start out mining. you'll be amazed at how much better it is, even though it's just another frigate and probably less than 100k
edit: this guide is quite useful, should get a sticky =p

More thanks interstellar citizen! I am nearly two weeks into the game and my ambitions outstrip my skills - I need to train 100 days + to get the industrial ship of my dreams.
Incidentally I am mining in an industrial - my Iteron with skill bonuses holds 3,450 cubic metres; with its single mining laser it takes an hour and two changes of asteroid to fill but this is all achieved on a single return trip. This comes in at about 1.5 million ISK every four hours. I am planning on trying the anchored cans technique mentioned above to see if this really is more efficient. Of course the disadvantage of using my big tug for mining is that it carries no weapons as the single hardpoint is fitted with the single mining laser. The lack of a drone bay on the Iteron is also a negative factor where mining is concerned.
May the force be with you!

Yeah I read this guide too. VERY helpful. Two things it didn't really clear up for me was the hierarchy of ships, and that bigger isn't always better, so I put those in my guide. -
