OMG it was a bad lag in there. I was in the same condition and left my char 2-3 minutes on the black screen "entering game as xxxx" and i'm in :) Looks like Caldari Lag (TM) infested our lovely Amarr !

^^ What he said is the way to go. Cosmos missions are all story line and you can start with L-2 agents though. In 1 week you can be 5+ standing easily dependig on your play time.
