You're coming across as an idiot in this thread Jade, and I'm an expert on the subject !
Seriously you actually believe sov 3 and titans make space impregnable ? BoB losing sov was the catalyst of their defeat, but that alone would never have been enough if they hadn't quite simply been worse than their opposition, much much worse, understandable really with the morale and participation drops caused by their string of failures preceding this particular delve invasion (and following it)
Their total lack of cohesive coordination with their pet alliances, the dilution of their own alliance, absence of critical FCs such as TWD and sloppy roles management by Molle... The list of recent BoB failures goes on and on.
Whereas conversely MM / RZR / TCF etc have improved quite a bit recently, and especially coordination between the various entities involved in this invasion has been better than ever before (something GBC always had an advantage in before IMO, but was sorely lacking in towards the end)
Blah blah.
(Note I do get the impression Goons have no good FCs anymore, but their numbers, participation and commitment seem to be making up for that particular shortcoming)
To add to your note, this is the first time in a long time for goons (almost a year) that we have had fully commited fcs showing up for goons.
BOB didn't fail because of their lose of sov3, although this was a huge part, bob started failing months ago when they started relying on pets like exe and others for doing the fighting.
Also you are right, the coordination is on a unknown level for the side of revolutionary forces. our fleets are able to murge and do things all under 1 group

Devian 666 - your concept of ideologies and their presence or apparent lack of 'ability to be' present in eve is wrong. Ideologies are not just confined to politics but are present in everyday life; everyday life includes the gathering together of a diverse ethnic concentrated playerbase in MMO. Please see the attached excert from the WIKI:
In public discussions, certain ideas arise more commonly than others. Often people with diverse backgrounds and interests may find themselves thinking alike in startling ways. Social scientists might explain this phenomenon as evidence of ideologies.
Dominant ideologies appear as "neutral", holding to assumptions that are largely unchallenged. Meanwhile, all other ideologies that differ from the dominant ideology are seen as radical, no matter what the content of their actual vision may be. The philosopher Michel Foucault wrote about the concept of apparent ideological neutrality. Ideology is not the same thing as philosophy. Philosophy is a way of living life, while ideology is an almost ideal way of life for society. Some attribute to ideology positive characteristics like vigor and fervor, or negative features like excessive certitude and fundamentalist rigor.
Organizations that strive for power will try to influence the ideology of a society to become closer to what they want it to be. Political organizations (governments included) and other groups (e.g. lobbyists) try to influence people by broadcasting their opinions.
When most people in a society think alike about certain matters, or even forget that there are alternatives to the status quo, we arrive at the concept of Hegemony, about which the philosopher Antonio Gramsci wrote. Such a state of affairs has been dramatized many times in literature: Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell; Brave New World by Aldous Huxley; and A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle. Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman have argued that social ideological homogeneity can be achieved by restricting the conceptual metaphors transmitted by mass communication.
Maybe the current dominant ideology is the growing distate of 'goons in space' due to the failing attempt of Goonswarm to influence their ideologies on this forum and thus in Eve.
Happy to discuss
Oros - & Kenny I hope you make them burn for attempting to take Delve ...

Quite a number of goon-sphere names here acting a little affronted that they aren't being paid the proper respect for steam-rolling an opponent in a circumstance they dearly hope will never be visited on their own space. While I see the need to present this current campaign as something other than "a director-level emocide pressed self-destruct" that is what it boils down to.
Reality is that competent entities do not currently lose space if they have cyno-jammers and titans. Thats simply fact. Everyone knows it, even the people arguing most vehemenently (incontinently?) on this very thread.
Originally by: Fred0 If you even believe that yourself you must be about the worlds stupidest person. There's plenty of alliances loosing space without being dismantled by a director level spy.
Of course I understand why you would want absolutely no change to sovereignty Fred0. You've gained the advantage you needed by the sovereignty dissolution in this campaign and you have no reason to want it any easier for anybody else to take your "impregnable fortress" in the north.
Originally by: Tyrrax Thorrk Seriously you actually believe sov 3 and titans make space impregnable ? Mmmmhmmm, I understand it much better for the honour and reputation of those involved in this campaign if they attribute their victory to morale failings, bad leadership, poor fcs, institutional corruption, whatever and whatever - anything in fact except the uncomfortable inconvenient truth that its pretty much all down to a director throwing a sulk and pressing "self destruct alliance." And (as I have argued below) that IS the only way in the current state of the game to take space from a competant entity.
Originally by: Viper ****zIe Jade looks like an idiot in every thread, no big deal there. Also, it wasn't BoB's sov3 that would have made it stupidly hard, it was [their] stupidly imbalanced sov4 consts.
So in other words you agree with everything I said but need to put in an insult for kudos with your goon audience. *right then.*
*** to remind you
Something tells me you guys won't exactly be willing to do without the advantages of cyno-jammers, bridges and titan defense in jump-denied systems in a few weeks. If anything this whole shindig has just gone to prove what everyone sensible has ever said about the problems of the current sovereignty system and overwhelming defense bonus of POS equipment.
If war in 0.0 becomes a polarity between:
A) They have cyno-jammers and titans = no force in the known universe can take their space.
B) We have a director level spy in their executor corp and can turn off their sovereignty = auto win for the larger side. You know you have a problem in game balance.
Lets face it if somebody was planning a campaign against say RAZOR right now - what would be the sensible option?
A) buying 500 deathstars and assembling a massive "coalition of the willing" and bringing a cap fleet to darken the skies (tm).
or
B) Lets have a whip-round and see how much raw ISK we can put into a pot to bribe an executor corp director to zero their sovereignty. Now sure, you still need a force to go in there and actually put up the new towers but compared to the absolute impossibility of taking territory from a half way competent defense force with jammers/titans thats the current state of the game in a nutshell.
Conclusion.
The goons are probably due some thanks for graphically demonstrating to the universe of Eve that sovereignty is so hilariously broken that its only possible to take territory from a competent opponent by bribing their directors to self-destruct.

Exactly and I wouldn't want you to mysteriously forget how broken this situation is once you've won in delve and are beginning to hunker down in your own defenses and 100% security from any external threat.
Not that I'm suggesting you'd run to cover of a hilariously broken game mechanic to preserve your position in the 0.0 game ... perish the thought.

Really? You think its better to cry and moan about broken mechanics when you find them a barrior to your accomplishment but then once you've managed to bypass the problem with a director-level spy you think its okay to 180 your position and defend the "nothing is wrong with sovereignty" card?
Interesting but not entirely unexpected. (Since of course I've listened to goon delegates to the CSM opposing all radical adjustment of sovereignty defense invulnerability for a six month period.).

Edited by: Vinata on 20/02/2009 14:54:13 I think it is best to let people who have actual experience in 0.0 to discuss what is and isn't overpowered in 0.0. If you want to talk about what is overpowered in lowsec station camping, feel free to do so. Until you have actual experience in 0.0, not a single entity is going to do more than laugh at you and your demonstrably incorrect assumptions about sov warfare. For an example of something that is completely incorrect.
Originally by: Jade Constantine A) They have cyno-jammers and titans = no force in the known universe can take their space.
BoB lost QY6 even though they had a cynojammer and multiple titans. They then took QY6 from Goonswarm, even though Goonswarm had a cynojammer and a titan (useless as he was.) Smashkill was a powerbloc with multiple titans and cynojammers, and yet they lost all of their territory. A few members of the NC who lost their territory (which had cynojammers in it) during the MAX campaign also had titans.
While titans and cynojammers are an extremely broken and overpowered game mechanic, and clearly one which the devs did not intend for, it is not the impenetrable defense your inexperienced self imagines it to be.
If you did more than spout off paragraphs about your opinions, and instead kept up with the in-game happenings, you would have known all this. You would not need someone like me to explain it to you.

Now would be a good chance for Star Fraction to establish themselves as a 0.0 holding entity, and finally silence all your critics who latch onto your complete inexperience in alliance warfare.

The sad thing here is goons still just don't get it. 3 Years in eve and they create arguably the largest faction in eve and there still just a glorified meathshield for those groups out in 0.0 that pull the strings
It's really getting kinda depressing in a way. I mean sure I like poking fun at them as much as the next person and as much as they try to put up a brave forum presence about how awful they are playing the game you know down deep it has really got to hurt that they never have done anything in eve without someone holding there hand.
From all accounts I have read sure the gigantic naptrain is doing pretty well in delve but jeez who wouldn't with those numbers ?
The Haarg episode was a for whatever reason disgruntled former bob who approached them not a spy victory for goons lol. I mean lets face it love Molle and the gang or hate them or could care less about them, Goons couldn't man up and take it without the sov loss so I guess when you cant get a filet mignon you brag about the crap sandwich you've got like it is a steak.
Anyway Can't wait to see how things unfold as time passes, Once the new sov mechanics changes come into play down the road I have a feeling a lot of the offensive team is gonna be emoing on the forums which should be good for a laugh for us all.
