No problems installing, tho almost ran out of diskspace on the laptop - be nice to get a headsup of not only the size of the download but how much space you need free for it to unpack and do its thing. A friend who _did_ run out of space during the install ended up having to uninstall, delete, and reinstall from scratch. Couldn't find a way to download a single patch exe so had to let it download it twice, once for each install - a single download is much easier for people with multiple installs :(
Please put the sound back. Better yet...
1. Make the distance you need to zoom to hear sound settable so those that like sound and those that hate sound are all happy.
2. Please please PLEASE! There is a nice checkbox to disable turret sounds. Please add a checkbox to 'Disable irritating looped docked-in-station background sounds'. Seriously now, they're as irritating as being bumped. Or are they the only sounds played through the 'World Level' audio volume slider?

Exploration no more....
Exploration used to be a prestige. Long hard hours in a cramped command deck, fine tuning sensors and ferreting out hopelessly weak signals... Now it seams that any piece of space garbage can get their hands on the "Fisher Price Exploration Set".
To think that such a simple module as the core launcher could be sophisticated enough to perform the duties of true exploration is beyond comprehension. Ergo the capabilities of this module should be restricted to wormhole survey and discovery. A special probe designed for such duties would realistically remove the requirements for on-board processing power and validate the pittance of a CPU requirement the module already has.
I begin to question the usefulness in the current state of affairs of a purpose built exploration ship. A modi****of skills coupled with an appropriate Gravity Capacitor renders a Buzzard impotent in capability. No longer is one required to return to base for a combat vessel. Apropos the Hawk, a Core Launcher and GC upgrade eliminate the need for sophisticated electronics and specialized design.
Ships Log 22/66/3/11
Upon arrival at the final coordinates, sensors detected a vast debris field and evidence of weapons fire. Upon inspection several wrecks were discovered floating amongst secure crates. "What!? the goods are still here!?". It was clear that whomever did this had no concern for importance of the site. No regard for scientific advance.
Supplemental:
An unstable worm hole was discovered in an adjacent system, Ion trail measurements taken at the Archeology site confirm that who ever was at the site went through the worm hole....may the vacuum of space find its way into their pods.
End Log
An aside to CCP
Give exploration to those who want it...and give wspace to all others.
1) The core probe launcher has no place uncovering traditional exploration sites, come'on less then 20 CPU??!?!? for basically all the same functionality as a 220 launcher 2) Special probes for detecting wormholes only should be introduced

First of all it should NEVER fade out, just muffle slightly, secondly how fun is it to only hear your own lasers in a huge battle vs 20 npcs? I didnt buy a 128 sound-channel sound card to hear 3 channels, my own weapons / engines / targeting sound. Thirdly how fun is it to not even be able to hear other player ships or even gatejumps, or even WARP-SOUNDS due to being 1km away?
Fix this now. I play with sound because im not pretending to be hardcore by turning it off. I play all games with sound, im a soundoholic and sound means just as much as visuals to me.
I have exactly the same problem.
I`m just hoping that this is just a bug that affects certain audio card, because i CAN NOT believe that CCP thought the game(at least the fighting part of the game) would be better MUTE.
It is very anoying not being able to hear the sound of your guns... I kept double checking if my guns were activated at all. And before I`d realized that the enemy ships were shotting at me, my ship was already in 50% armor left...
I dont feel like doing any missions or PVP untill this issue is resolved.

Queued up a bunch of skills, and one of them bugged out and went back to 0 training. It was first stuck on "Completion eminent...," so I canceled it and went to retrain it and found that it got reduced from level 3 to level 0. I can no longer leave the station in the BC I'm sitting in because it's no longer trained. =x

K, so here's my take on the whole patch/new install deal:
system: HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop 15" screen, 1500x800 resolution factory loaded nvidia card Windows 64 bit Vista Ultimate (it came with 32 bit vista home, so yes i have voided my warranty, lol)
1. Tried patching several times, to no avail; kept receiving invalid build, "click here to install a fresh copy" or "click here to download a new build". These attempts were met with failure after failure about invalid check sums, etc.
2. Tried all posted link methods regarding new build installs, including uninstalling my copy of the Pre-release build QR(57883). This method turned out to be the best choice, I think.
Successful download at this time is a roll of the dice, there are 250,000+ peeps trying to download the patches, or new builds, so there are going to be checksum errors.
I attempted a download of a "fresh build" from http://www.eveonline.com/download and was successful the final time.
The thing, which grabbed my attention was during the download, Firefox froze for about five minutes, then completed oddly enough.
I successfully installed the new build and logged in.
Props to CCP for the new graphics. I haven't undocked yet, as I'm still seeing a lot of issues with peeps. I've only seen high-res settings once in QR, shortly before I had several BSOD, and the several other "windows experienced an unexpected shutdown" moments, thus I reverted back to low-res. I haven't seen anything beyond; logging in, saying high to Corp mates, then BSOD until today, so to me this is quite new, THANK YOU CCP!
Peeps, try downloading later tonight or tomorrow, yes it sucks and so does the economy, but you will be able to log in and play again. Insert witty comment here |

Jeez, i absolutely cant stand the new projectiles animation and sounds. This *puff*ing sound and musket smokes just have to go. Does anyone know if there's an option to revert to the old animation somehow?
PS: On a bright note, the new asteroid belts look awesome.

Ive been here since 06, not that long compared to most of you. But i've NEVER had a problem until this release. I've spent 4 hours now trying to figure out why i keep getting "uncompatible version" or the wrong build. If I need to upgrade my comp/graphics card consider eve a "PAST hobby"
Sidenote: I feel REALLY bad for you guys on ccp that will be up for the next while fixing these problems!! EEsshh

Hey Everyone. I barely got started with Eve Online, when this patch deal came up. I am running Windows 7 Beta, 2Gb DDR, with 512Mb Sapphire AGP and the who;e look and feel of this universe is AWESOME. The Auto-Patch ran pretty smooth for me, but I did notice that Windows 7 Beta HANGS when EVE looses my connection, XP Pro didn't do that. Well there it tis then.

I'm with alot the same complaints.. i can't stand the new sounds turning off at more than 5000K distance away... i feel empty when i can't hear my missles blowing things away... (not to mention when your mining its helpful to know when a rat shoots at you and your AFK with your sound up...)
i miss the bumpy ride coming out of warp....
i don't care for the new warp animation, but i can deal with it...
as far as the new fitting screen i don't like that i can't see the weapon module once i put ammo in it....
other than that i like alot of the small things so far, webs, salvage, tractor beams, shield boosters... like all that stuff
FIX SOUNDS!!!!! or atleast give us an option!

1. No assets shown on the SOLAR SYSTEM tab of Personal Assets (I'm in the same system my assets are); BTW, other tabs showing my assets properly.
2. Hate that crystal-like ship too. But more than that I hate that ship is still visible even after hyperjump animation (*for 2-3 secs).
3. Placing 3-4 skills in queue doesn't work for some reason. After completing first of them, training turns on pause... (Yeah, I hit the Apply button after placing the skills in queue).
first off i have had the assets page srew up on me too second the skill qeue thing you gotta make sure in the begining the skill you had traing post patch isnt still there because it messes up for that first one

So far after about 5 minutes of flying:
BUG: After about 20 scans from probes and re-aligning them to try and get a reading, they stopped picking anything and everything up. I made sure my filter was set to show all, got them to all scan 64AU right in the middle of a heavily populated system with a station (and they where picking a LOT of structures / a cosmic anomaly / ships parked at a POS before at 4AU), but they kept coming back as "nothing on scan" (or no signatures detected or whatever the message was supposed to be)
MAJOR GRIPE: I absolutely 100% disagree with whoever thought that screwing up the fitting UI was a good idea. Yes, it looks pretty now. Thats it. Practicality-wise it's crap. Everything is all over the place, you can't see everything at a glance like you used to, and other than that, everything "new" serves no practical use whatsoever, other than adding to the already massive download everyone had to put up with (no, I don't mind big downloads, but filling a 1.5Gb space just for the sake of filling it is kind of needless won't you agree?).
I seriously don't understand what the reason was behind making it that much user un-friendly. If the UI graphics department / whoever was responsible needed to show their bosses that they spent time doing 'something' - even that is fine, but why is there no option to revert back to the classic fitting UI pannel? Surely it's not going to cripple the dynamics and physics of the game if there was an option to make the gaming experience that much less frustrating (heck, even in a non-biased opinion, one UI window being different for different people should not compromise the balance or the playability of the game).
Sincerely
Volk

Very painful patch process for me -- no auto-patcher at all, and ten slow hours doing manual downloads -- but all has been smooth since I got in the game. I do have the problem with all sound levels (except in stations) being terribly low.
However, positive feedback-wise, I am very happy with the new scanning system. It's more challenging, more fun, and there's a much greater sense of accomplishment when I've scanned out something tricky. Removing the randomness and the empty wait times was an very good move.
Also enjoying some of the new exploration content. Have not been into w-space yet, but it all sounds very promising. And the little things (like the rats warping in, or their explosion animations having forward velocity through space) are very nifty.
I know there's a lot of tweak-and-tune to be done, but I wanted to express my appreciation for the many improvements and all the hard work that's gone into them. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Still no luck patching EVE. The auto-updater in the most recent build doesn't work at all. Just lets me know I have an incompatible version but does nothing about it. After rolling back my version a patch or two the auto-updater wakes up but still isn't able to find a patch file to download. Where are the manual patch files for download on the eve site? C'mon. Two days lost and counting. Thanks CCP. Get you asses in gear or I'll be forced to drop my accounts and leave the house or something.

the universe map is horrible, I cant see any blips clearly, or routes clearly and when I click to move the map it autoselects some system and autozooms to it, and I cant select certain systems at all it wont let me click on it instead it autoselects another system nearby, bring back the old universe map this one is awkward and horrible to use to locate blips of people

Pretty awful patch I'd have to say. It doesn't auto-update. And no attempts at manual patching can get past the "incompatible (build)" message. (It's a year-old gaming rig -- And I'm a computer programmer in the gaming industry so we're not entirely clueless here. :)
Well, I was getting bored of EVE anyway. I'm unsubing Friday if it's not fixed by then.
And no, before you ask, the only way you can haz my stuff is if you pry it from my cold dead corpse. ;-)

I have some few problems after this patch: 1 All my wheapons (drones and railguns) become unrepeatable, they shoot only once and railguns are turning off, and drones just flying around the target (saying they are fighting) 2 Zero cooldown of my railguns, after I'm pressing to shoot the shot is compleete, the ammo dissapears and the railgun is ready for next shot. So... 40 shots from LARGE Railgun in a 10 seconds. 3 After changing the target drones begin to shoot, but they do one shot and begin just flying (this **** me off the most).

Downloaded and installed in less then 30 mins. Nothing wrong as far i can tell. Graphics work great and the sound works as it should- i used to have problems before, the sound was either off or the weapons audio was deafening. Great job, keep up the good work.
I actually read the this entire thread- 90% of the complaints seem to be- "i bought my computer in the '80s and/or my connection speed is about as fast as a turtle- What do you mean thats not good enough? you only told us about the shader 2 thing ages ago, what? that applies to me too?"
Phttt forget all that jazz and keep up the good work

I know it's minor for most people, but I'm disproportionally upset that the warp camera shake is gone... ah well..
I assume the sound issues will get fixed, falloff ranges tweaked, etc..
Please consider bringing back the warp camera shake, you can turn it off in the settings if you don't like it so why remove it from the game?

New "Congestion" system
My ship just moved over 500AU and a gate jump without me being logged in.
How did my ship escape a system without flying in space?
How do I get back to where I actually should be without flying in space?
This congestion system is ill-conceived. I did not intend my ship to move and expected only a pod to move.
Now lets apply this to 0.0.
You're in a system being camped by 500 enemy. How do you get out? Easy. Just relog and select where you want your expensive ship moved for free by CCP.
Everyone I've talked to so far instantly sees how ******ed this concept is.
How did it ever get to release in this state?

Patch went better than i would have hoped.Game runs fine.But...map is in bad condition and the fitting menu is just a cool looking mess. The sound...I really hate the sound.EVE's sound never was its strong point and i was expecting some positive chances. But this is definetly worse.Effects are good exept the warp part(boring).I hate it!Give me back the old shacking, noise, warp effect, the cloak sound and i'll give this patch a 9/10.Haven't tried the holes yet...
