Just thought of a new thread idea here.
Ill post my top 10 favourite EVE players. If you don't know them or their story - you should. I won't post why they are on my top 10 list, it should be fairly obvious.
I invite others to post their top 10 list with one request .. they should be notable, and not obscure. (Their story should somehow be historically notable with respect to EVE's history)

I tried to list 10 (though I included 11). I think different people take different things from their perspective of Eve's history. Accordingly, people will have different top 10 lists. Thats why I'm curious to see other peoples.

I'm going to limit my top 10 favourites to eve forum players or the names aren't going to mean much to a lot of you reading.
In no particular order ;
1. Bellum Eternus - Maybe slightly biased to pirates, but I like his thinking.
2. Rawr Cristna - Always makes great points.
3. Akita T - Blowhard, but I'll wade through all her megathreads for interesting reads.
4. Captain Pompous - Because he's pompous and right even when he's wrong.
5. Armoured C - Just because he's around spamming.
6. Tippia - Quirky.
7. Eventy One - Used to have a char in Eventy's corp once upon a time.
8. Le Skunk - Makes me laugh.
9. An Anarchyist - Because he's an *******.
10. Bonhomme Carnaval - Makes me laugh also.

1) Chribba - for the love of all the work he has done for this community
2) All the friends here in SERA.
3) Light Darkness - Member of SERA and Leader of Veritas Immortalis of old times. Very charismatic person. Great Southern War vs RA & Friends until the goon blob came along
4) Seleene & Waagaa - was always fun to play with and make plans (former leadership of MC)
5) Luthien DeMore - Old friend since I started eve. We know us r/l now for a couple years and I look forward to see him at Oktoberfest again. Showed me that there's a way for germans and englishmen to be friends without the historical load usually placed on such things.
6) Meeus69 - Alot of fun in the old times. Mr. Nice Guy ^^
7) Tholarim - For his simple instructions in fleet battles: "Jump in and keeeeel!" :D and the fun had in the past
8-infinite) All the people that crossed my or my guns path in eve. Without you this great game wouldn't be as much fun as it is.

Damn politicians get all the glory. Oh well, at least only 90% of them run their corps like RL dictators.
I've got to say that I really miss tiller. He made camping a losec gate sexy with his pirate faction BSes back when they were actually, you know, worth a decent amount of ISK. Plus his forum posts were pure entertainment. And seriously, if you want anyone camping Rancer it's tiller...although truth be told it'd be a lot more dangerous than having whatever Ginger Magician's newest not yet banned alt is running the show.
Oh, and kessah makes quality posts, put out some nice PvP vids, and also was on the killmail for my first BC loss back when I was 2 months old. (5th ship lossmail, 4th pod lossmail.)
Ginaz got me interested in PvP and the Pilgrim with his PvP vid "Behind Enemy Lines." Course he sold his char in late 06.
Farjung is probly overrated but he also was a big influence in my de-carebearing back in the day when I was finding my noobish feet, so props.
One on the OPs list I agree with is Istvaan Shogaatsu since I only joined EVE at all after I heard about the Ubiquia Seraph affair.
I gotta say, I got no respect for personalities, but prefer smart, capable people. Seems to me like half the OPs list are just CEOs of major 0.0 alliances and it might as well be the list of his favorite alliances.

The most favourite EvE player by far is Chribba. Not because he's good at playing EvE, or for owning large ships in all the wrong places, but because he's nice. He gives so much to us, both in-game and out-of-game...and in return we want to gank him for it?

Chribba. Goas without saying, somone who gives so much deservs the top spot. And he was kind enough to kill my alt for me cos I asked him tooLinkage
Scagga, hes been my best mate in this game and kept me on the strait and narrow, cos I am a hot head, and hes a real Doctor
Ginger Magician. Yes I know alot of you hated him, but I found him endearing and funny. Laughing at him.
Inominate Nightmare. Stories are just too good! He he I met him once in the pirate fight for 9UY. Such a cool guy.
Kessah. Again a good mate who taught me most of what I know about pvp.
Bosie. From Veto. great guy with a wicked sense of humour
Serenity Steele. For all the work she did in ISS.

Akita T - because i find myself agreeing with him 99% of the time, because he uses logic in his arguments and has posted a lot on how eve can be made a better game
Hardin - for being a good role player, whenever that CSM thing formed and i read the discussion logs i really liked his responses
Ankhesentapemkah - another cool CSM dude
Sheriff Jones - man has a way with words, also for being so lighthearted
SirMolle - for making those "BoB: the evil empire" 20+ page threads that gave me much entertainment to read over, good role player also (i hope he is not like that irl, but even if he is i don't give a ****)
Garmon - C&P's ultimate troll, like SirMolle gave me many hours of entertaining reading
tiller - another awesome C&P troll, i loved it when he came on boards and posted "all of you suck" then a bunch of guys with insecurities would come and whine about it (SATAN is in this same category only he trolls CAOD not C&P)
surfin plunderbunny - another great poaster, he's cute irl too :D
the player who wrote these stories that got me interested in piracy that ultimately hooked me up to play EVE long term
The Mittani - everyone's fav metrosexual dude, i don't care what ex-BOB says, deep down inside they all love him for ending their nightmare of being stuck in same alliance for all these years
Rells - for making PVP school to bring more people to join in 0.0 fun, also bringing up many valid points about pvp in EVE with which I totally agreed
Tyrrax/Istvaan - for giving scamming biz a good name and proper drama it deserves
K·gutsemen - for not being afraid of getting dirty by digging up dirt, was awesome drama too

Yes I had O.Z on for obvious reasons dating back from the ancient times when we were in the Asteroid protection movement.
Winterblink certainly deserve one honourable mention, and just didnt make it into my list also Hardin.

I've got to go with Vladimir Norkoff. In case you thought EVE was about being friendly, helping new players and doing missions, reading his audit logs will set you straight. I'm hopeful he's a reasonably well balanced, decent human being outside of EVE, but I'd hate to meet his persona without the appropriate... paperwork (in game). |

Although players are mostly male, I refer to characters gender rather than player since I don't know for sure.
In game:
Keta min. Prior to the corp I'm now in joining the corp she's in now in the alliance, I wonder if she ever figured out it was me mining out all the Jaspet from her corp HQ system in my Retriever while her pirate corp camped the gates to highsec in the system next door? This was in 2005/6, prior to WTZ.
Mulls and Alpha: The head honcho's in my corp. Been good flying with ya and sad to be leaving but I've had enough. I just wish Eve had the same spark as it did a couple of years back but all the nerfing has killed it for me.
Forums:
Way back to the days when the original posters were around. Dark Shikari because if he was still around, I think he would top Chribba for the highest number of posts. IBDS became a standard response if you could manage to do it.
The original Jenny Spitfire who was totally unable to think outside the box. No matter how you tried to work around a problem, she would reject it but not because it wasn't a sound idea but simply because it didn't conform to her linear logic. Magic Fairy Dust was always her excuse for any idea she couldn't punch a hole in with her logic. I used to enjoy baiting JS like crazy in FAID and kept dying threads alive just to do it. Some of my ideas to make things work were just so crazy that I was sure she'd realise I was just baiting, but no, she just kept on taking the bait. Oh well, it kept me rolling about with laughter for a long time. I wonder if she honestly thought I believed CCP would really use those ideas if I could just convince her?
There have been others along the way but these are the ones I'll remember most.

You know what? I have come to the conclusion I don't have a top 10, there are just so many cool people I have come across (not in the biblical sense) in Eve, which I guess is what makes the whole game so rewarding.
Props to all those I have had a blast with (or at), either in game, on the forums, or down the pub - diamonds one and all.
