There are many player pirates that do this to others. I once had a character (not this one) that got shot down in a rookie ship and he was only 20minutes old... not even enough time to train a skill.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

Edited by: Bhaal on 26/08/2004 11:05:18 I've come to the realization that most pirates in EVE are the same type of PK'ers that ruin many other on-line games.
Those are the players that basically make the DEV's pull their hair out trying to combat cheaters...
Every on-line game suffers from these types of players. A small minority of players who ruin the game for all players.
For some reason, I believe they need to feel as though they are "beating the system" and damaging the fun factor for "carebears". In RL, quite possibly could be socially defficient in some manner, don't have a spine, so they try to bring themselves up in RL by taking others down in a virtual one...
Every MMO will suffer from these game-killers.
The DEV's of future MMO's just have to learn to make their games more griefer-proof if they want them to be more successful than EVE.
EVE is a great game, but not half the game it could be if the DEV's did not have to waste so much time worrying about combating these scumbags...
Not all pirates in EVE are like this, but I'd venture to guess 75% or more of them are.
Pimply faced geeks who sit in the dark basement of their parents house who have no hope of ever getting laid...

20 minutes is still enough time for a character to be able to log onto Team Speak, and start rattlign off Fleet compositions.
Which is why people pop newbie ships in unsecure space.

I'm not a pirate, but I find comments like this (and there's plenty of em on this forum) REALLY, REALLY ignorant. How many player pirates have you actually SEEN? How do you know that they're all (or that most of them are) pimply-faced and live in their parents' basement? By what telepathic powers are you privy to their love lives? Enlighten me, please.
Also, I'm curious as to the basis of your 75% figure. How did you come up with that?

I'm an extremely good judge of character in RL...

It seems you're RL "skills" do not translate very well to mmorpg games...
Seems I'm a better judge of mmorpg characters and it looks like I've found the a-hole of today.
Ohhhh and how do you "watch them type"?
You some kinda a reclusive voyeur with an obsession for webcams that lives in his parents basement and has spotty skin issues?

Be sure to look into Greek and Turkish piracy as well, for even more good old fashioned death upon the high seas. Everyone always forgets that the Carribean is only a relatively small bit o' th' world. --- Having recently acquired a lab slot (thank you, rental bug), I wholeheartily concur, there's absolutely no problem with lab slots! |

Actually, no...
I'm a very good looking successful 31 year old with a beautiful, big titted blonde GF, and we have lots of sex.
I just try and sit down and have a little fun with EVE now & again, and try to avoid your kind...
Pirates, PK'ers, whatever... Can try to substantiate their existence in EVE any way they like. Chances are, I'm not gonna buy it, and will see right through it... You can't fool me... Your EVE colleagues are typically going to come from the socially inept class in RL, and those RL deficiencies manifest themselves in games such as EVE as PK'ing and the like as a big green neon sign... Very easy to spot.
I watch people type in the chat channels... Where else???

So you call every PK'er or 'Pirate' or whatever Socially inept with deficiencies in RL... yea that's boarderline harrasment. Also have to talk about your 'RL girlfriend' etc etc making yourself try to look superior? And you think PK'ers got issues?
