Yeah, with an Emulator!
Boo-ya!
Not even that, seems there are some xbox and playstation emulators, not sure if they work well, but there are no xbox360 or PS3 emulators ( or I can't find them ;p ).
There is still hope, even if it is 2015.

how can people hope for a console game to get ported to the pc ?
thats like taking a 600x800 pixel image from the internet and printing it onto a huge wall-poster.

Because it has happened before, and is becoming increasingly common. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

sure. consoles are more restricted than pc's. they have restricted hardware and (for an fps game) restricted controls. developing a game for a limited platform like this makes it very difficult and time consuming to lateron port onto a less restricted system (pc) (if done with quality in mind).
a better way of developing a game is to develop it for the least limited system first and then port it down to the more restriced plattforms. to come back to my analogy above, this would be taking a wall-poster format image, and then shrink it down onto a 600x800 pixel web image. the image will look good on the wall aswell as on the internet.
typically companies would develop a game towards consoles for two reasons:
a) because off less variaty in hardware, the development process is easier. - this is the reason why console ports to pc's often run/perform very bad or have many bugs, whilest games initially targeted for a pc release and then ported down the the consoles usually dont.
b) because they want to specifically target the console-player audience- and then they might later decide to cash in a few extra bugs with a pc port.
from the companies perspective both does make sense, but from a player perspective its rather sad.

im sure i could name you as much games which have been successfully converted from console to PC, as you could name games which have been successfully converted from PC to console.

im sure i could name you as much games which have been successfully converted from console to PC, as you could name games which have been successfully converted from PC to console.
For example: Bioshock
the bioshock example dont really work for you there. it was designed from 2k to be a multi-platform game from the get-go. and even through the huge efforts the company put into making it a fun experience on all platforms, each had very specific issues (on the pc mostly sound issues, graphical hickups and 'Accelerated Mouse-control issues'/inprecise aiming).
however, many of theese problems are also due to the engine the used (ue3), an engine advertised from its developer to be very good for multiplattform game development. this engine was still being developed by epic games while 2k allready used it for bioshock development and even tho they put tremendous efforts into straitening it, they could not solve all issues in time (mouse-accelleration, perfomance issues...)
again, it was propably not a wise idea to develop simultaniously for multiple plattforms,- even tho the result was better than had they first developed it specifically for consoles and then just ported to the pc.
also, when you use the term "successfully", it is important to differantiate between market-wise successfull (they sold alot of copies), and gameexperience-wise successfull (the game offered the best possible game experience).

well in the end the only thing that matters for me is that they develop it for BOTH the PC and Consoles so that i can have my two eve accounts open on my two PC monitors, and have my dust soldier online on my ps3 in my bedroom as well, so that can play three game instances at once.
And the others who dont have a console are then happy too. How about that?

Here's a thought as to how it might work:
Dust will be tied to factional warfare (at first). All planets in a warzone (excluding gas giants, which cannot be fought over) will be either held (controlled completely by one side) or disputed (fought over by both sides).
The first stage in capturing a planet is to land troops there. Thanks to the use of cloned soldiers, all that is needed is a "pilot base". Once a pilot base is established, soldiers can move in and start fighting. Later transports can provide additional weapons.
There are two ways militia pilots will be able to affect planetary battles at first. One is by setting up blockades at stargates. If done well, this can make establishing a pilot base impossible. They can also prevent resupply, forcing troops on planets to use captured weapons or possibly manufacture new ones. Conversely, they can aid the transports - escorting them or even doing it themselves. Later, a system will be developed so militia pilots can directly impact battles (planetary bombardment, or even flying in with frigates to provide fire support).
A large portion of the player base for this game will come not from EVE players, but from console FPS fans. ThereÆs every possibility that entire clans would immigrate to Dust. The best clans will learn to establish contact with the militias and work with them, so they can keep their most important areas safe. While I know a lot of EVE players will want to also play Dust, I canÆt see the
There will have to be some way for planetary battles to impact the outcome of the larger war. If a system at large is controlled by (for example) the Caldari militia, but the Gallente armies control the planets, what effect does this have? One way would be to build sensor outposts on the planets that are many times more powerful than anything a ship can mount. It would be easy to pinpoint combat sites or enemy ships if you control the planets. In the above scenario, a Gallente blob working with the Gallente-controlled planets could easily capture the entire system, with no time wasted scanning for combat sites. Later, we could also have planetary bases. Planets themselves might be worth victory points.

All i can say is:
I want to play the full game and experience every bit of it. With Dust out, this will no longer be possible if you dont buy a console, and i really have no use for consoles.
Its nice that they try it, but in the end they do with Dust what we all hoped would happen with Ambulation. Now, i'm not sure Console Gamers will really get the feeling of beeing part of EVE either, so it could very well end in a desaster for both games.
Dust, just another shooter, will loose its followers after a few months, leaving EVE without good sovereignity control system? Talking about digging ones own grave...
I wish them the best...i really do.

What about Dust on the PC? Two different correspondents at the gamescom have questioned Petursson about the platforms its being developed for. The first, from gamespot.com received the following answer:
We questioned P. about the platforms the game is being developed for, as well as subscr. details, but he declined to comment at this time. But it was confirmed that the game was being developed for "current generation hardware." Linkage
The second report, from 4players.de: 4players.de talked to P. after the show, asking why there will be no PC-Version. P. smiled and stated, that he cannot comment on it right now. The only thing he can say at the moment is that there will be ca console version. Linkage

This makes me think that CCP is "testing the waters" with the console version. If the console version succeeds, they will release a PC version. If the console version fails, they will not. However, if the console version is TOO successful, CCP may decide to abandon PC development entirely as they could conclude that console development is more profitable.

Looks more like a ship to ship fight to me, like the one in the new video. Missiles come in from overhead.
Anyone expecting orbital bombardment needs to manage their expectations somewhat :p
a) it will be almost impossible to implement b) it would be game breaking for the DUST players

Or perhaps they are just checking to see how much flames they got for not releasing a PC version and how many actually leave over it.
If the rage is tollerable and not too many leave over it, they just go on and don't release a PC version.
Just a theory :p

New Video-Interview with Petursson on golem.de The Video-Interview itself is in english, the text version on that site is in german though. Most important points: Maybe playable version on fanfest; Not all planets in eve will be battleground; In the winter-expansion we will see which planets will be battlegrounds; P. does again NOT comment on a PC version, he says, the focus atm is for Console Linkage
My compiled Fan-Video of all old and new ingame footage I made it earlier tonight :X youtube.com
Moar Screenshots See Page 27 of this thread
What about Dust on the PC? There is still hope. See Page 28 for the information i was able to gather about this.
Nice Dust-blog, from Brendan Drain of massively.com: Its about facts and speculation; see www.massively.com
Full 8-minutes Dust Video from the gamecom Thanks to T'san Manaan www.dust514.org
Fitting-Screen of a planetary vehicle Thanks to Dillon Arklight, Co-host of PODDED Podcast Picture to be found here: a.imagehost.org
www.dust.514.org For more infos/news about dust look at www.dust514.org This will also be the place where news from the Fanfest will probably pop up first
Onlinewelten.de has snagged some info from Petursson The important points: Walking in Stations is to be expected next year; An upgrade to the planets is to be expected next year; COSMOS will play a great role for the community of both platforms; One playmode in dust will be "domination". Its about capturing/holding strategic points, and comes with the ability to install buildings. Linkage
Video Interview gamona.de: Roughly put-together text version on page 24, 25 of this thread Linkage
Interesting editorial from mmorp.com managing editor jon wood On how dust combined with EVE Online has the potential to change the virtual world space, but he reflects also on the bulk of the opposition to Dust's announcement Linkage
Looking at Screenshots: I thought it might be interesting to analyze some of the screenshots. All Links go to my photobucket album. Especially to counter the emoraging thats going on. The screenshots, as i interpret them, prove that theres no reason to call the end upon eve, because of dust. Because of tight space, look up the screenshots on page 22 of this thread. Or look them up here: www.dust514.org and leave a comment or two xD
News-Update 21.08.09: heise.de talks to Petursson see page 25 in this thread for the full translation and Link. Probably an abo based on-line shooter in a MMO world; Constantly evolved and updated with new content; Players gain experience, more power, access to better equipment; Direct communicatiation between Eve and Dust players
