Originally by: Sade Onyx nerf to directional scanner. Didnt see that coming.
How can you possibly consider that to be a nerf? Are you in the habit of hitting the scan button more than once every 2 seconds?
As you can see from the responses above many do consider it a nerf.
Im not proficiency at the scanner myself, but if I do know how it works.
its point, scan, point, scan, point, scan.. now its point, scan, point. Wait 2 seconds, scan, woops I didnt wait long enough, click scan again. point... etc..
in 2 seconds you could scan 4/5 planets and be arriving at your target in less than 8 seconds of entering a system. Now it could potentially take half a minute. So yea, a huge nerf.
Not saying its a bad nerf! When I learned about how easy it was to be scanned down and killed I was quite shocked at how easy it is, almost dismayed. No wonder Pirating is so popular.
But Pirates make up the world of eve in my view, I hate it when they get me, but it adds the very real danger.
So im not sure about it. Of course CCP say its a performance thing, but they must have discussed its potential impact to make an informed decision.
I've asked a lot of people their impression on this change and it varies from, Great... to, dont care.. to, OMG WTF!

Just easy, its EVE times they do that, so check your clock and you're sorted :)
And CCP never release patch + expansions by PM times, because nobody wants to work with bugs in the evening or night :p

Same thing that always happens.
You get the you've managed to overload your cargo message and it prevents you from undocking.

Really? What about melted nanoribbons? Was the drop rate upped across the board, or just for the higher class sleepers? As is, the drop rate is not *nearly* different enough between the easy and hard sites.
yea, this change is not necessary as long as nanoribbons wont drop more. They have already overtaken the NIM, and are still rising, while NIM are dropping in price. The impact on t3 prices will be minimal because the bottleneck is changing from NIM to nanoribbons.

Quote: Four new Epic Mission Arcs have been added, one for each of the four main Empire factions. These arcs will be of Level 4 mission difficulty and will be deeply rooted in the lore of New Eden.
Yawn, so yet again no decent new mission content. Why for the love of Jove have they gone straight from L1 arcs to L4 arcs? what's wrong with L2 or L3?
I'm quite capable skills wise to run L4's but timewise is a different matter, some missions you can blitz through, and then you get an extravaganza which you have to either turn down as you've not got time for it, or wait till your next online session to run it.
C'mon mission devs, you're getting really lazy with new content for the older player.

Originally by: Patch Notes Carriers, Dreadnoughts, Motherships, Titans, Jump Freighters and the Rorqual now have special fuel bays accessible via the context menu of the ship. The fuel bays accept ice products such as isotopes or strontium. Jumping, or modules which use ice products such as siege modules, can be activated with fuel in this hold.
Why is there no mention of what volumes the fuel bays can store? Is the fuel bay capacity the same for all races within a given class? Are capital ship cargo capacities being adjusted?
Originally by: Patch Notes Carriers, dreadnoughts, titans, and Motherships class ships base cargo capacity is being lowered because of this change. The affected ships are:
* Motherships: Nyx, Hel, Wyvern, Aeon * Carriers: Archon, Chimera, Thanatos, Nidhoggur * Dreadnoughts: Revelation, Phoenix, Moros, Naglfar * Titans: Leviathon, Erebus, Ragnarok, Avatar
Thank you for clarifying what the names of the capital ships are. This was unclear before and the added information is very helpful.
I'm sure I speak for all players when I reaffirm that there is no need for CCP to be concerned with telling us how big the new fuel bays will be, or by what amount the cargo hold will be reduced.

cornfed, I've updated the list:
* Motherships: Nyx, Hel, Wyvern, Aeon * Carriers: Archon, Chimera, Thanatos, Nidhoggur * Dreadnoughts: Revelation, Phoenix, Moros, Naglfar * Titans: Leviathan, Erebus, Ragnarok, Avatar * Capital: Rorqual, Orca * Black Ops: Redeemer, Widow, Sin, Panther * Jump Freighters: Ark, Rhea, Anshar, Nomad
The reason why I've not included hard numbers is because they might change before tomorrow. I don't feel comfortable giving out possibly incorrect information and causing capsuleers issues. I hope you understand.

The 2 second scan thing is a really bad decision IMO and will impact game play more then realised.
Spamming the scan button is the only way to get a ship-type if not on grid for cloaking ships. This means it has to be timed perfectly now. As also mentioned, you can scan quicker than every 2 seconds in some systems / being quick. This limit just makes PvP harder - again.
Hitting the Scan button is as boring as hell, yes, but the entire directional scanner needs overhauling. Little 'tweaks' like this just make a bad situation worse.

yay! I was a bit worried about the Orca's cargo hold, I really enjoy having 50,000+ m3, it makes hauling a battleship very easy.
Also, I have been training up the alt to fly the Rhea as it currently (today) has the largest cargo hold, if that changes tomorrow I think my alt might go pirate too :P

If memory serves if you're in space with overloaded gcargo you can't warp until you've emptied it, this used to happen with cosmos stuff i ran before they changed it.

What exactly does this warning mean?
"if, after Apocrypha 1.5 is deployed, your ship's cargo hold is too full, you will be stuck in space."
So anyone who in the next 11 hours doesn't see this notice and is sitting in space will become a permanent sitting duck? What about the people who won't long on in before the patch?
Maybe for something this important we should have been given more then 12 hours notice?

Quote: The Directional Scanner can now only be activated once every 2 seconds. This has been done due to performance concerns and exploits.
This is just horrible in my opinion.
a) You can't see people who decloaked for just a few seconds (e.g. when decloaking after jumping in or when they landing at a gate and decloak before they jump out) anymore unless your timing is lucky. Right now it is the job of good scouters to keep spamming scan which results in skill > luck instead.
b) You can't time many things correctly. 2s delay means 6au to 27au someone got closer to you. Especially in fast roaming gangs / sniping hac gangs its crucial to see how far the enemy is spread out and to get exact information asap. 2 seconds are a lot of time there.
c) When hunting people or e.g. ratters decent scouts keep checking belts they are not warping to midwarp right now. It works because there is no delay between scans, here again 2s delay in an interceptor is just huge.
If there really has to be a fix for performance issues I'd suggest a delay which relates to the systems current performence, aka a relation to the normal lag you get in systems with more people in them. While 2s delay are insane and horrible in a system with 10 people in it they pretty much don't matter in a system with 150 people when it's slowly getting laggy anyway.
Also I'd suggest (if this increases overall performance) a delay in highsec, but way less or no delay at all in lowsec/0.0
If this is the wrong thread to post these suggestions please let me know and point me towards the according thread.

Originally by: glassmanipulator Actually yes.. its a total nerf.. when you live in 0.0, and a red jumps into system, you onboard scan spam a gate to get a ship type before they cloak, if they are cloakies..
This nerfs that, because in theory I could land on a gate and decloak and jump, or come thru and decloak from jump and recloak, and you wouldn't catch it on scan...
This is great for cloaky grifers tho that love to spend hours in other peoples space.
Awww diddums did the nasty dev's ruin your day? I mean really it's laughable. All these big mean 0.0 alliances scared of an afk cloaker in their space. What's it going to do? Bore you to death.
Alliance Member 1> Oh no, I'd best not undock or go ratting there's an AFK cloaker about Alliance Member 2> Holy ****! Quick get everyone to the pos Alliance Chat> Everyone! Run for your lives! It's an AFK cloaker! We're all gonna die!
For the love of god, stop being such a bunch of napfested blobbing ratting carebears and either ignore the cloaker or if local spikes leave/bring it. Having a 2 second delay between scanning isn't a big deal and if anything makes the game more realistic since you have to wait for probes to scan, why not the d scanner?
You'll just have to counter it somehow. As BoB said "Adapt or die". And they didn't adapt

Wait... So you are trying to buff ships with jumpdrives by giving them fuelbay (which is good, blackops suffered from bad case of "nocargoholdies") and then you NERF theyr total cargohold in exchange ? Nice thinking there. Do not discuss moderation in your signature. Zymurgist |

Still a little fuzzy on the sound fixes. They biggy was combat sounds. If the camera was next to my ship, and the ship had active shielding, then all you heard was the hum -no other combat sounds at all.
If you pulled the camera far away, combat sounds came back, but then most ships were just dots -so much for having pretty graphics.
Well, I'm hoping for the best. The best being that sfx for active shielding are GONE! Begone I say!
Ever since Apocrypha came out I've followed my corpmate's lead and just turned off all sounds -I got tired of constantly messing with the sliders. Really, hurts the game experience in my opinion but at least I keep my sanity this way. Just don't have time to try and hack the sound files and null-out all the sounds I hate. Never was that big of a problem until Apoc, but now I'm down to my last nerve and I have no tolerance for this nonsense. How long has Apoc been out now? Really inexcusable to have to wait that long for basic sound fixes.
I've been with EVE over 5 years now -certainly longer than any other mmo I've played. The basic gameplay is still enjoyable, but really starting to feel the need for more customization options when it comes to the interface and game sounds. Nothing like annoying looping sfx to make you want to smash your keyboard. ----- I've said it before, I'll say it again - CCP hates logistics players. FIX THE CONTAINERS! |

Might be implied by the patch notes, but I'd like to know anyways. :)
Will the OTHER cargo holds/bays of the Orca/Rorqual be "nerfed" when adding dedicated unrefined/compressed ore bays?
("The Orca and Rorqual now have a dedicated bay for storing ore. This bay can only contain unrefined and compressed ore.")
Thanks!

On the Test server neither the cargo or corp cargo of the Orca took a hit in capacity. The ore cargo bays are supposed to be an ADDITIONAL capacity that are NOT upgradeable through skills or rigs. Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels. Zymurgist |
