63 here, first æcomputerÆ was a 99 step programmable calculator, second was a UK101 using Crystal BASIC before M$ æinventedÆ it and locked everyone into æTheirÆ operating system.
One of the few æhackersÆ that cracked æLenslockÆ on the Sinclair Spectrum by loading it into memory, crashing the computer and using a disassembler to take it apart and re-write it.
Most enjoyable games, æLord of the Rings on the SpectrumÆ, Power Monger and Elite on the Atari, and all the Lara Croft games (was the reason to buy my first Playstation ).
Fun days, thank goodness for Eve .

Ah the heady days of cracking games on the Speccy... I got round the lenslock by resetting the clock, then the 'random' code was always the same :)
I also remember writing a little code that sat in the printer buffer, and executed a 'save' so I could make backups of games without using the amstrad double tape deck trick.
I also had a ZX81 with the 16k rampack and wobble :(
48 here btw

Ha, that was my first PC :). Played "Enterprise" on it... that would be 1984, as far as I recollect. 44, btw.

37 here. First games system was an old Binatone, then I moved up in the world when I got the Astro Wars handheld followed by an Atari 2600. Ahh..the memories.
On another note, i've forwarded this thread to my dad as he's curious about Eve but thinks he's too old at 59. After reading this I think it'll encourage him to try it out.

I think maybe you guys forgot Space Wars (Wiki link). Quite possibly your first spaceship PvP, and about seven years before Elite came out.
In my day we had to pay a quarter every time we PvP'ed.

Started on a Commodore64, playing choplifter for weeks on end. From there to Apple II, BBC Master and finally my very own 286.. When I upgraded it with a 10Mb hardcard (harddisk that fits into an ISA slot) I had the fastest computer in town :P
I also started a BBS back in the days when the first 9600 baud modem was released.
After finding the internet it was Descent, then the whole series of Deltaforce and Operation Flashpoint until I found Face of Mankind (MMO) which I played until it died.
