A young 35 here, 36 later this year. I must have had a deprived childhood as my first games machine was a Commodore 64, with external disk drive - Which was the size of a shoe-box, and had it's own mains electric power lead
Elite -> Elite 2 Frontier -> Elite 3 First Encounters -> EVE Online
Sadly I'm starting to think Elite 4 will be vapourware forever

My first console was the Atari 2600, but my first computer was an Atari 800...even had a tape drive as well as the floppy drive. I had gobs of games for it. I remember we used to take double-sided, double-density disks, punch a notch in the other side of the disk sleeve with a hole punch, flip the disk over and copy files on both sides of the floppy. It was a great money-saver when you're a kid and don't have great cashflow...heheh.

Heya....I remember you from where we all used to bounce around Fountain shooting each other. Congrats on getting married.
My own family is certainly why I don't get to play as much and be as active in 0.0 politics as I'd like, so I know what you mean, man...heheh.

42 here. Started off playing Star Raiders on the Atari 2600. Still have the console, game, and keypad that shipped with it kicking around here somewhere. From there I moved to Gunship on the Commodore 128 (dual floppies rocked!!). Been playing Eve for a bit over three years now, though real life has been kicking hell out of my play time as of late :( ------- Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience. |

On the right side of 40 here. Started on a ZX-81 and BBC Model Bs from school; the only true 'Elite' has wire frame and no colour :)
Moved on later to the beautiful Amiga range, still feel mad about what Commodore did to them... ------------------------------------

Oh, wait, you mean over 40 real-time years? Sorry, I'm only 32, but one of the players in my corp is almost 40, and he rarely gets teased about it.

Just a question of when that will be (am 31 atm).

Nearing 40 myself in a few months. It is good to know that I am not alone in being an "older" gamer!
I will admit to now feeling a bit embarrassed when looking at the games in the software section of the local gaming store, and having a young employee come up and ask me if I need any help... It would be so easy to fib and say that the game is for my son/daughter/nephew/neighbor/or-some-other-child-as-an-alibi!

Edited by: Yolla Bohlsen on 08/09/2009 03:22:03 Well I gotta say hello I'm 53. I made my first computer when I was in electronics class as a freshman in high school. It was a 4 bit monster that had, 5 switches for the input 4 for the binary data and 1 to load it, and it had 4 light bulbs for the output no LED's back then lol. I had a computer with dual 8 inch single sided floppies,as my second computer, and used it to play Adventure, a text based game that pre-dated Zork. My 3rd was an Atri 800. Forgot I was on my alt. so this toon is the wrong sex lol.
edited on my alt.

54 years old.
My first computer was an IBM S/370 - I remember playing something like Spacewar on the console - type in your move, hit enter, wait a few seconds while it printed an updated map taking your latest move into consideration.
And it was in Team Fortress that I used to tell victims that they'd been killed by someone even older than their Dad.
Age is fun -
Player 1: "My mom keeps on at me for playing too much."
Player 2: "Yeah, mine's the same - always telling me I should be studying."
Me: "Uhh... guys, your moms - how old are they? Are they cute? Single??"
(Whereupon Players 1 & 2 start gagging, losing it at the thought of the possibility of their poor old moms being women in any shape, form or fashion...)
