Why was a test announced pretty much an hour after it was supposed to start?

was asked to go here and request a fresh mirror update before the mass testing, i think it would motivate a lot of people to come join the testing. also you would probably get a LOT more capital pilots if you did it. there has to be someone that trained them over the past 1 quater of a year...
considder this, since last mirror was made, Goonswarm has disbanded... what does that say about the mirror ?

Damn, announce it at least a couple of DAYS before you decide on a mass test. Don't you want to have people helping you?

Was a fun test, I had fun the sleeper invasion was pretty impressive had a chance to risk ships I dont generally like to undock in.
kindda screwed up my sleep today so I was like feeling tired and falling asleep, sent a message to a corpy saying "aww im tired cya" a second later over 9000 sleeper drones appear, it was like a mass caffeine boost, the downfall was the char I wanted to come with sadly didnt have certain skills trained to be useful :(
Also message to some of the rawr guys, chill out FIRST!! |

Wow, I didn't know about this until it was already over.
It went like this:
- Wake up
- Check mail and RSS feeds
- See info about test today
- Excited, since I normally can't make it on Saturdays
- Read the time, which was two hours ago

I guess that means you can give Sisi the "new" mirror which is now out dated by nearly a month. I'm surprised you guys haven't realised a new mirror would give a huge boost to people logging on, or you have realise that but just not bothered to act on it.
At the least you give a reasonable reason for why there isn't a new mirror rather than waiting for a better time. We're paying a monthly sub for a game... we spend our time helping you "fix" the game... we still pay for the game with no bonus. Why not drop faction ships into everyone's hangar again on Sisi?

Whilst its great you provide feedback on the results of the testing.. Thought occured that perhaps you're providing too much info for those looking for exploits?
Previously you've said that when you experience lag jumping in, do nothing. As chat, market, etc makes it worse. So what do people do? They spam chat to increase load for those jumping in.
Now you've said dropping/picking up fleet increases load. Isn't that a hint to people WANTING to lag out a node to start forming/swapping/dropping fleets to deliberatly lag out the node?
You're kind of stuck in the rock-hard place. Tell us, people exploit it, dont tell us, people whine it.

A real mass test on TQ : http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=5954169
Result : Never loading grid after titan bridge and die. Pilot info panel loading completed, chat load done, broadcast messages fine. Just the game unplayable because Dominion grid load bug.

Are there no results from the earlier tests or did I just miss them?
Specifically I mean http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1238523 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1257152 http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1261686
Originally by: CCP Tanis Also, the test today was announced on such short notice because we wanted to get a potential fix into testing ASAP so that it can get out to TQ faster, instead of waiting several days. We figured you folks would rather we keep trying to fix things instead of waiting for "better timing".
Looking at the results - IMO it's merely a summary of the individual experiences, nothing anyone who participated didn't know already - I have the impression that after 2 months of testing you are still trying to find the actual problem, instead of trying to develop a solution to it.
So are there any fixes already, some changes or ideas that were derived from the test result(s)?

...stuff...
Couple Questions: 1. How did the "fix test" go? 2. If good, Deploying to TQ soon? 3. Will the upcoming test be a second look at the fix, or will you be looking... deeper 4. So, About that swarm -o- Sleepers... Do it again?

CCP you had the test scheduled too early, most of us here in the US were still sleeping seeing as how it was a saturday morning. You'd get a better turnout if you did it at 20:00 GMT or later like the previous test.

What, NOON is too early? Hmmm.... if you're on the left coast, it's 9 AM. and that IS a wee bit early for a Saturday....
Personally, I had a commitment (of the Spousal aggro kind) But I see that the event was postponed... What happened? No one came?

move ahead as required with testing Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

Honestly, I have to applaud CCP for diverting from the normal testing times they have done in the past that virtually exclude US time zone participation. My only real question is will I be able to login to the test server for the test, or will it be the standard sitting in the login que for hours?

I have a suggestion for the upcoming test
As i'm a software developer too, I spend half my day with bugspray in hand. I tend to look at features that behave awkwardly or dont work very well first. Given I was there with the last tests and didn't notice any particular use of my favorite feature, I would suggest you test it explicitly.
Do an extra test where you ask all ppl to fill their watchlists randomly!
Why?
- I can't imagine people do this by themselves during a test.
- It's a vital part of fleetfights.
- This feature is not part of the native code and has been "hacked in" afterwards
- The watchlist often behaves odd. E.g. the red flashing during attacks is mostly wrong, or not there if needed
- There is a lot of information transferred additionaly. Given the non-native implementation i would guess this is not done very efficiently

I have managed to 'cut down' my portion of the lag by using Piriforms CCleaner with 'Wipe Free Space' checked. It takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete and has been a substantial help on my computer when I play EVE.

This incredibal lag was a direct effect on the dominion expansion, we had 100 in local last night and it was unplayable, targets that were dead were still there, loading into system took forever, is enough hard work and resources being put into this?
I don't think so, they need to go through the code for dominion, look at the fleets finder, loot logger and watch list, these all seem to free lag when they are not active.
Ive tested in system when in fleet and when not in fleet and the difference in lag is huge.
Also look at the sov system, this has gone on too long and realy needs to be sorted.

We aren't talking about graphics lag caused by your crappy PC or lack of RAM of your crappy PC or lack of CPU of your crappy PC here...see where I am going?
It's about the hamsters in the server cluster... You can have stable high FPS in fight involving 1000 pilots, but your module lag is counted in minutes - that's the 'lag' what we are talking here.
