Great idea ccp.
Making the biggest of all missiles cheaper than projectile ammo was a pretty sweet move.
Can't you just also give everyone out there the skills to fly a Raven and a free Raven on top of it, cuz that's seemingly what you want.
Out of 8 battleships, 4 are totally gimped and unable to fit any possible role (yes, I have a useless Blasterthron) in both PvP and PvE, two of them are good at one thing (Geddon is damage king, Apoc is tanking king) and the last two (hey guess what, they're missile boats) are untouchable.
I was under the impression missiles were going to be 'changed', not boosted. The *only* thing that kept Ravens from being the Caracals of lvl 4 missions was the prohibitive cost of torps. Good job guys.

Lowering Prices means missiles will soon become worth a lot less. Upcoming Nerfage...

Edited by: Dave Tehsulei on 26/11/2004 18:49:39 so because missiles are now equal with all other ammos, price wise, missile boats are suddenly unstoppable? ----------------------------

Missile BPs now produce 100 missiles per run while consuming the same inerals that 10 did previously. This means they dropped in price per missile by approximately 90%.
When I first saw the change, I thought"Ah well, I made a hundred or more runs at a time anyway, so this will tie up my factories less". Then I saw the Mineral Reqs were the same, and I grinned and laughed maniacally and started running every factory I could get my hands on producing Torps and heavies.
But it Appears that the change is intentional and permanent, and now I am starting to regret that greed inspired decision.
All in all, in the end, Pilots win, and manufacturers lose, for me it evens out since I fire about 9/10 of the ammo I produce anyhow, but it is hurting lots of folks, especially those with sizable stock pre-exodus. I mean, they could at least have multiplied by 10 all the missile stacks in existance... but, I rant unneccesarily.

Hi folks, I am a manufacturer and i can tell u this sudden missle boost is going to be killing for us sellers. Imagine the bounty on rats drop like 90%, well there u go, great game. This missle boost wont just totally screw the missle/torp market but will also affect all other ammo's. Why use large antimatter ammo when a scourge missle is just as cheap but deals way more damage? Besides that, lowering missle prices by 90% wont make people buy 90% more. They just get what they need. So sells will also drop 90%. That will kill the trade (read manufacturers) and in the end ull be buying ure torps from npc's again. So CCP, thx for this crap missle boost, thx for this little Exodus 'surprise'.

Missile boats were unstoppable in PvE in the first place except that there was hardly any money to be made from killing NPC's because of the cost of torps and cruise missiles. With that out of the way, expect to see nothing but Ravens in Empire soon.
How exactly is my Blasterthron not useless for missions now that I'm unable to use an MWD? Please, I'd LOVE to know a setup *without* MWD that actually can catch the opponents.
And for PvP, well, a Blasterthron has no place in there anyway, except maybe for semi-prepared 1v1. ------------------------------------------------------- "Do you really think that's air you're breathing?" |

Edited by: Gungankllr on 27/11/2004 12:11:22 And you're unhappy why?
How does this really affect you?
You chose to fly a non-missile using ship.
For the longest time we have dealt with silly manufacturing batch limits, resource needs and huge costs for missiles.
If anything it balances the playing field for Caldari pilots to be able to make roughly the same amount of money doing missions as non-missile users.
A good analogy would be:
You like to drag race in Los Angeles. You make a huge amount of money for your wins, and since your compact car is very fuel efficient, you pocket almost all of the money.
I like to drag race in Fresno. I also make a huge amount of money, but I like to race in a Hummer hauling a boat, so most of my winnings goes to fuel. Hummer came out with ultra-cheap fuel, so now I pocket as much money as you do.
What I can't figure out is how this affects you in any way, shape or form?
Don't be jealous because I drive faster than you
