Hi!
We are considering to seed super capitals (both super carriers and titans) on the markets on Singularity. We have not really decided on it, but it seems like the advantages will outweigh the disadvantages. Some from the QA team are still quite skeptical about it, but we are ready to give it a try.
It is clear, that some players will love and some others will hate it - but we don't know all the reasons for it and we have no idea how many are on which side. Please reply to this post if you have any opinion on it! Please also note it, if you think that any other changes need to be made in combination with this. Please stay civil in this thread and refrain from any personal attacks. I plan to keep this thread active for 2-3 days and then post a short summary (and maybe post a follow-up thread). Assuming that you are all for seeding super capitals then I'll put super capitals onto the market of 6-CZ49 and reevaluate the whole thing with the next mirror.

I'm all for it because all the other ships in the game are available on the market. But do I see myself using the ships? Probably not. I am a firm believer of every non-unique item being available on the test server.
As for the PvP testing balance, it might be best to limit the use of Supers to their own system similar to that of the current subcap and cap PvP zones in SiSi Pew Pew Pew! |

Well it would be nice for those people who are always bitching about it, however after an while you will see that sisi can't really handle this amount of ships and stuff, also rage will come from those that get killed in one second even if their in a titan. |

100% against.
Not sure if you remember the last time Leviathans and Avatars got seeded, but it was pretty bad. The only thing that will possibly come out of this is every single ship undocked will be a super capital. CCP will spend hours upon hours of solidly banning people who break the rules if you don't recall.
The only feasible way of even contemplating this would involve the removal of the 2,000,000 SP from mass tests to prevent massive abuse. Even then, the people who can fly these ships will spam them and there will be more bitching.
You listened to the masses who wanted faction mods seeded, faction mods got seeded. Now most people want the faction mods gone. Do not make the same mistake with super capitals as it will be 10x as bad.
Part of the reason for the removal of the super capital build acceleration was because entities spammed supers and it ended up causing too much work for CCP. The seeding of super capitals would cause more spammage and more work for CCP than this program ever did.
To end my rant, after the seeding of supers, people will beg for maxed skills once more; they figure you caved in once before with faction mods, and another time with super capitals, let's try again with maxed skills. Maxed skills + supers = incredibly bad if you don't remember that dark winter expansion testing phase.

1. That was bad cause they gove everyone a 5m learning refund sp thats why it was bad 2.No 3.Unseed faction mods seed supers, It isn't a problem 4.Don't like it? go PVH8 its there for a reason. The speeding up of supers was stopped because of the work needed for ccp to speed the builds up that is all 5. And they don't do that already?
Anyways don't you have BH spawning you supers already? Why can't ccp do it for everyone |

With the non super system and the ability to expaned it if needed some people will spam and then what get bored and go home. Its when you say you will only have this ability for a day or two that it gets bad. |

I believe it would be very beneficial for the following reasons. First, although mirror dates are never known, given the time to build them, people can get into them. Also, people find ways around it such as asking major TQ alliances etc. for them. It will also allow for further testing, and if it turns out to be a bad addition it can be taken away.

The obvious question is what needs testing for such ships? Certainly newer pilots would benefit from trying their unique mechanics, and perhaps some would like to experiment with new fits for future alliance ops approval, but they're not general everyday combat ships and afaik their use doctrines have barely changed for years (just some dps nerfs), so I agree they should be well clear (outside bridging range if possible) of the capital and subcaps testing systems.
If corps/alliances want to see how they perform un(der)supported vs regular caps and subcaps, they can organise 2 sides within their own alliance for such testing. Meanwhile aspiring individuals can just try them out to get a feel for them, all without their huge ability to disrupt the far more mainstream testing system & situations found there.
Judicious deployment of cynojammers in the current testing constellation, basically. |

Seed them CCP.
The only people that are really gonna be against such actions will be the SiSi corps that just want to sit in a CA camping with their TQ supers. By seeding the supers you will allow others who may not be able to fly a super on TQ but are always attending the mass tests to feel the power of flying such massive bricks in space.
You could remove the faction and deadspace stuff from market seeds so that people who do fly these seeded supers will be restricted still in some way, it also makes it so people who own TQ supers on sisi (which are usually deadspace / faction / officer fit anyway) will still have their needed advantage. (Also makes for some pretty funny tech 2 fits IMO)
Like said above too, if people don't want to be titan / super carrier blobbed, the new system is always looking for new people...

What is the problem you're trying to solve by introducing them to the market? You say the upsides outweigh the downsides, so I'd be interested in knowing what the upsides you envision are, because they aren't obvious from my point of view? You'll certainly get more "testing" done on them, but was there an issue with the lack of testing on supercaps? People lost their supercaps at such frequency, that they ran out constantly and therefore huge bugs got on TQ?
Let me be clear. I'm not against this change, but I'm not seeing any real upsides outside the obvious increased testing and use, while the various downsides are somewhat obvious. As time goes by and characters are skilled to access these new features through training and free skillpoint distribution, majority of testing increasingly focusing on ships and modules, that form the clear minority of use cases on TQ. Attracting more people who just want to play around instead of doing proper testing and bug reporting, which will ruffle some feathers and will require increased babysitting from CCP staff to manage. Increasing low quality/trash feedback on such ships, since the people who will be flying them on SiSi have little to no actual experience in their use on TQ. Nothing earth shakingly bad, but what is the good that comes from this?
Again it might be more easier to give constructive critique or complements about the proposal, if we knew your reasons behind the change. It's a bit hard to do, when you're not laying out your argument in the open about why you are thinking about implementing the change in the first place. |

2. CCP can seeded the supers at one of the regions like the drone region or others Eta.
and on the Note. COMODORE JOHN please shut up No one cares on what you say your corp is the only one who have supers in SIsi to play with and lose at the same time. or should I say a giant Corp who Rapes everything.

A big no. Seeding them would be a mistake. The vocal "yes" in this thread seem to want the change out of some misplaced need for revenge against whoever this DDL is.
The addition of the sub-cap only system was fantastic for people like me who hop on now and then to test sub-cap fittings but like Destination SkillQueue so poignantly asks; What are the benefits of introducing more super capitals onto singularity? The people who actually test super capital building and the irregular weapons used on said supers for bugs will always find a way to get some for themselves. |

i am mostly for it, seed them in every normally seeded station EXCEPT the one test system and keep it capital exempt (jammed and blocked) except for when the Dev's/Bughunters wish to have some testing done for specific reasons. This will allow Super testing while preventing the titanopocolypse that tends to happen in the testing system otherwise. Since the current sov system has made it a royal pain to try and build a super normally (wipe, have to replace TCU/iHUB, wait for upgrades, instal upgrades, install pos, and modes, them build the Super, if you happen to have all those roles and the ship skills to carry the massive module. its just a logistic PITA!!!! |

WTF is this, log in your Quebec United Legions alts to distort the average opinion? It's a test server, blobbing someone to **** need only be 'tested' as a tactic so many times while others are genuinely trying different fits & tactics. If only there were a simple way to coerce people to not be terrible. What's permitted on TQ doesn't have to be on Sisi. Failing that or some scheduled supers seeding & removal mechanism to make them only a thing once a week/day, CCP you're clearly going to have to keep them away from the general testing systems as some people are far too keen to slap e-peens and waste other people's time. |

I agree with Daneel the supers should be seeded in a another system other then C-6 or Qvo8<------ whatever that system name is. or it might start many problems with other caps and sub-caps. well the Caps I'M not sure about them if they should be seeded with the super-caps.
and CCP make a new system like what you did with the other New test system. |

Keep PVH cyno jammed though, for those who dont want to test with the supercaps being seeded in 6-c.

Hi!
What about a mechanic to seed them through the redeeming system for chars who has the skills to fly them? Maybe in small batches like 3 unit for one Sisi mirror? It could be prevent the full supercapital apocalypse, but provide enough ship for testing.

How do you do. i do agree with the said statement. *ccp note* I wish that supers would be seeded but in there own system. to do this would be very simple pick said system like eza or something and just drop an incursion over the constellation cyno jamming everything. (take off the negitve effects of the incursion) this will allow players to test there supers without harming the people in 6-c also. for the moveme situation just restrict the move me bot to ship size. if someone in a super is asked to be moved they should be docked in the supercapital system someone not in a super would be moved to 6-c. by doing this it will result in less station fighting for people in capitals in 6-c (no OOPS killed you with my DD). That is my opinion.

My 2 Cents:
With the introduction of the new sub-cap only system I don't see why not as the major argument against them was that they ruin testing but this new area kind of nulls that points.
I agree that it should be seeded in a different system however to prevent the rage - if a super is required in a fleet for other ships a BH / CCP etc can always manually move them.
To all the people that are saying it's not gonna work --- How do you know? A lot of you are basing it off the fact that it'll be like the armageddon day where everyone just came to fly titans and noone followed the rules. If this doesn't work out and there's a lot of rule breaking then it'll be removed as stated in the OP.

Against. Even though there have been changes since, when we look at the past, every single time supers have been seeded (either by accident or by design) there have been problems. Too much hassle for too little gain.
Destination SkillQueue wrote:What is the problem you're trying to solve by introducing them to the market?
This right here is a good post.
Finally, why does nearly every suggestion by players include QA having to code something unique just for Singularity? |

I support this.
This would allow full blown alliance excercises with them, where losing one isnt a concern. It would give people an opportunity to skirmish and try new tactics.
Also it would give alliances thinking of building super caps a chance to try them out and decide if they are worth the effort. |

The decision: Super capitals are now seeded for a trial run in 6-CZ49 on Singularity. We will watch the use of the super capitals and will decide later if we'll continue to seed them or if we stop with the next full mirror. Please only buy single ships (I will watch my wallet)!
Regular test server rules apply - I will have a look around on Singularity in the next days and use the ban-hammer if really needed. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

As a super pilot on TQ, I dont feel that this addition adds anything from a "testing" point of view. The people with real supercapitals log on the test server enough to point out any glaring defects that a patch may have messed up.
As it stands right now, we have a similar situation with seeding faction modules. Everyone and their mother is buying (badly skilled) supercapitals and flying around 6-C, with almost no subcapitals or even normal capitals added in. It creates an artificial testing environment, one where it is pretty impossible to test anything OTHER than a super.
This is a trend that has emerged over the past few months with SiSi, starting with the abolition of the segregated combat arenas. Good luck testing for instance frigate balancing changes on SiSi in an environment where everyone is fitting meta 14 modules and you get a 10 man supercarrier gang warped in on you at any time. Changes like these essentially relegate the usefulness of the test server from a player's perspective to playing with obscenely expensively fit ships for half an hour then leaving once the fun factor wears off (Supercap ganks with 10v1 and no support isnt exactly thrilling).
I'm still a fan of keeping the accelerated build speed that was already in place on SiSi, but to me seeding supercaps is just a way to ensure that no testing actually happens |

+1 all for this and I would like to also see an SP stipend for toonns - so that we might be able to test things we currently don't have skill points for... it doesn't make sense to me to advertise to people for mass testing and then not post in a mean for people to test this due to TQ SP levels... it is a test server and CCP would have alot more testers IF people could temp up the points between mirrors.
I would like to see with this though a return to Cap, BS, Cruiser, Frigate CAs... to limit the effect of people just mowing down the lot on any given day and rules that bind people to not pull up and DD the crap out of say a frigate testing area. it's all about the Frame Rate... |

Update: Super capitals are now seeded in 6-CZ49 This was a good idea. I like it. |

It's been a few days already with supers seeded, so some feedback:
+'s points: - Haven't noticied any problem with this, other caps are still being used (dreads, carriers) - Also still people in regular ships flying around, as supers have become pointless to try to attack subs - Haven't been cluster problems, even the CA's don't seem as full of drones as may have been expected - Also PVH has seen a little more activity now with people trying to be away from supers, still good - Another worry was that SISI may become over-populated, haven't yet happened
- 's points: - If supers get seeded, on new mirrors, still have to be sure sov, building, etc. works (someone may still want to do this) - SUpers stacks, people love to kill the stacks (even against the rules), my solution to this would be DON'T seed supers for 100 isk, keep them in the billions, even a bit higher that what obtained from insurance when popped, to avoid massive stacks and even just undock-loss-undoc k-loss in supers, making isk in sisi is easy, but with supers close to their actual TQ cost, would force people to not only fly 100 supers in 1 day - Drone clusters still can become a problem, why not include a sisi.unique script where drones, as wrecks, vanish after couple hours, can improve lag and other issues

For those of you who say "What's the point?" I can tell you at least one thing.
As a capital pilot of a few years with experience in moving my ships, I can see very clearly how much different Titan is from other ships including dreads.
The range is obviously much shorter but it really hits home to see HOW short. It's not something I can move around without resubbing my cyno alt account...something I hope to not do to save money.
It also give the experience of being in a Titan/Super. I can see what it's like to never leave. The requirement to stay in it 100% of the time is somewhat relaxed, but it gives me a good idea to see how much I'd HAVE to stay in it and how much I need another carrier to refit/give capacitor if moving through hostile areas.
I also know how much fits into a super and what I can take/use in terms of fuel/SMA/stront. It's nice before a 100B investment to see what I might be getting into.
And being only seeded in 6-C is interesting too. Syndicate isn't terribly hard to move out of, but it's a bit of a pain when you need solitude mids. Most aptly named region ever. I could certainly see supers being seeded elsewhere and maybe cynojamming 6C. But I think it will be ok. Supers have trouble hitting subs and doing damage, and if someone is being a pain with webs/TP usually you can kill off that ship. |

You seeded supers, now you see the havoc that has been brought upon us. Super capitals have been one of those very touchy subjects that people begged for and was quite fine left alone. I am speaking as someone who has spent many hours self destructing the monstrosities that have been forced into existence, Aeons fitted with T1 meta armor repairers, T1 rigs, failed attempts at an pantheon aeon, or things like my pet that are dual tanked embarrassments that would otherwise be removed immediately from existence if they were brought to the main server. CCP I beg of you, do not seed supers next mirror, it creates problems that are otherwise impossible to avoid without moving to a new system and not deal with the occasional capital, rather than the super carrier or titan blobs that exist to massively now. I do not wish that the only escape from supers be that I cannot use a revelation or archon, I want to use those, but in the current environment my choices are Battleship and lower, or know that when my archon exits warp it will succumb to 5 Doomsdays from scrub pilots who wouldn't know the first thing as to how to properly operate the weapons they possess aside from "lock target, fire doomsday and wait." Super Capitals should be as "special" on singularity as they are on Trainquility My post anger you? too bad, suck it up and move along. |

Could you seed supers in a dedicated testing system? That'd prevent major interaction with the subcap testing and whatnot. Being separated if you want to play with supers seems like a good idea to me.

Seems your scrubliness has overridden your ability to format a comprehensive forum post. While I do on occasion fly an aeon, you wont find me in one all the time, I actually prefer running logistics for randoms in my archon or flying around killing things in a Talos, Vindi, navy mega, bhaal, or navy scorp. What my friends do is there choice and I'll not be the one to say no, because some times, you scrubs need to learn that you may be able to talk, but we're the ones with the bats, and we're ready to crack some capitals open easier than the SoCo pinata TEST made. My post anger you? too bad, suck it up and move along. |

I am all for this. It would be really nice to test out features compared to them, see how things work for tackling, fighting them, in regards to balance and all that, but also, sure, some people are going to jerk around and just come on to fly them, because they cant afford one on the live server. Is that really any different than the people who come on to test fittings, before they buy them on the live server?
+1 for supercaps on test. |
