We can't say much here with the NDA still on but I don't think there will be perceived skill problem with early starters in DUST like there is perceived to be in EVE Online. Not that I agree there is a problem as you can target your training in EVE and be combat ready fairly soon. Rifters can take down BS's! Nuff said.
PS just reread your post. If you started playing EVE in 2006 you can't really consider yourself to be 'behind' anyway. I have only been playing two to three years and I don't consider myself to be behind. |

I whored myself for a secondhand 60gb old-style ps3, and broke my credit card to get a telly to play on.
I don't regret my decision...

i'm still on the fence. not sure about buying a "new" 7yo piece of hardware to play games on, just seems wrong. maybe i'll go the vita route, not sure yet though. i guess there's always craigslist. if i could get one for the right price i would pull the trigger, just not so hot on paying retail for something that'll be obsolete in a year or so. |

With the PS3 slim out, I went shopping for a used PS3. Thinking people would be up to get the newest and greatest. But the prices were still outrageous. So moeping around my last store, I see a on sale sign. And its for a "new" 360G PS3 (not the slim) for 229. Quick check with my phone doing some comparsion shopping. The cheapest used (at the time) was 20 dollars more. So I got it. And I only play Dust514 and PSHome. Now I have to buy blue rays LOL, I got Prometheus and it looked great!
So I guess I got a good buy. And while Dust is still looking beta-ish, I'm enjoying it!

I used to have a PS3. DUST 514 sure did motivate me to plan on buying one again, but no, I have other games I intend to try and get back into. |

Still on the fence there. I never been a console person and I do have a xBox, and a Blue-Ray player. So, I do really see the ned to spending $200 for another game console that will collect dust like the xBox (Really only used for Netflix). Also, not fond of, controller based, FPS games. I prefer Keyboard and Mouse and built a rig that is more than powerful enough. I don't like the fast that this game is not on the PC as I feel consoles hinders the graphic updates where the PCs can have hardware upgrades when match to the EvE visual upgrades that we have been seeing over the last couple years.
We sill see what happens next year when all this as matured.

You can pick up a PS3 for almost nothing if you're not bothered about having a working blueray player in it.

After "Way of mercenary" video I'm interesting in Dust but only as part of EVE universe as possible way to relax after complicated EVE gameplay. For sure I'll play Dust after PC release but purchasing console to play single game is beyond me. Especially - outdated console in the end of its development life cycle. |

*bangs head against a wall* Hehe. Just getting tired of typing this. lol.
You can get a beta key by going to the Dust Lounge in PS Home and watching all the screens, clicking the recruiter npc, & failing quickly a game of Slay. Then return to the screens to receive a beta key. |

Got beta-key in the first wave that went to EVE subscribers, but at that point I lacked the courage to burn money and wife was still receiving high dopamine dose from D3, so -- I gave it to a CCP friend that works with Dust community to share it.
Tonight we ordered PS3; tomorrow it arrives and we also have to go hunt a TV/monitor for it, too, as been living ten years without one.
I now reapplyed for another beta-key on several mails, but I think it will not come until tomorrow... :) Should we go for MercPack or there is still a way to get free beta-access through PSN special offers?

Haha yep, me too kind of.
I have allways wanted to play Gran Turismo 5 and metal gear. Then when I saw all the hype about dust, I checked it out and I thought "**** son this looks a bit like battlefield 2142 in ways" So yea i got a ps3.
I got the version with only 12gb memory so im just waiting to pick up my hard drive today! (Still cheaper than paying sony for the 500gb version AND i got the mounting caddy for the hdd too!) "Were not elitists, were just tired of fail" - The Sorn |

Bought the PS3 as soon as I knew which platform it was going to be on.. for sure, as opposed to maybe, sure.
Just bought the Move and Sharpshooter; that was probably a mistake and waste of money in retrospect. My first experience with it was like trying to ride a horse that wnts to throw you. Haven't tried it in any other games, but comments I've read suggest it might be just Dust? Either way, Nintendo made one better. zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

Dust514 was the tipping point that convinced me to buy a PS3. There are other games I've missed out on that I'd love to play but essentially Dust was the game that convinced me.

HDMI cables are cables, don't pay more for "brands" its a marketting ploy. Its solder and wire, the quality of production has an upper limit. Same with headsets, it always makes me laugh to see people with Beats headphones. 50 quid for good headphones and another 250 for Dr Dres name on them. |
