Tonight is CCP stress testing the diversion to this forum as part of the implementation planning. This is not an accident, so no conspiracy theories required.

I was about to write a bug report about:
"EVE Online will be deployed during an extended downtime on Wednesday May 26th"....
== snip ==
Today is the 25th and as far as i know the EVE universe should be up and accessible as i write!?
For god's sake: Fix your information policy! It's the _MOST_ annoying thing to shove downtimes into the faces of users giving UNNECCESSARY, BAD or NO information about what's going on.
I know you can afford to get away with this kind of behaviour as your license agreement allows the king to be the king, but it's really a shame businesswise if you do assume (possibly caused by still rising user numbers) paying customers will forget about lousy support like that.
How much would it cost you to make some person keep the ingame loginscreen messages up to date, avoiding to spread times and date you obviously underestimate most of the times?
I might have considered buying a console and DUST 514, maybe even multiple versions to give them away as presents. I say: Keep it, if you can't solve the most simple things!
== snip ==
The "new" login screen message pointed into here, kudos for that. CCP Navigator posted at 12:05, so I must assume my rant about when to communicate what where is still valid in parts. Are we users supposed to first search thru general discussion forums to find some clue the next downtime?
Get used to your own downtimes, folks at CCP! Ever heared of quality of service? Do you log your downtimes or downtime response time at all? Maybe it could help you to improve!
If EVE would be a precious diamond, ensuring the income of myself by having other people pay for looking at it -- THEN I WOULD NOT WRAP IT UP IN NEWS TOILET PAPER!

Bit of a shame about the timing really - could have done a few things in preparation for the patch DT.
Oh well, another patch. Another goodbye to relatively short downtimes.
No rage, just lamenting a good thing that CCP had going.
I know that there are a bucket of ingame issues around performance, and the fact that many basic issues such as some sucky UI behaviour just never gets a look in before new features are piled on.
(Is it that hard to put a confirm popup on order cancellations?)
However, the mainaintence aspect of DT improved over recent months to a point where DT was a blip, not a night ender.
So hopefully CCP can get the server back and get to relatively short DT times ASAP!

Does CCP plan on having an extended downtime to upgrade for Tyrannis?
I was out of town during my first experience of an EVE expansion and I wasn't sure there was someplace this is announced?
Thanks!
There is a news item on that very subject located here.

Try running an unsharded universe for nearly 50k peak concurrent users with 99.999% uptime... then come talk.
Originally by: explorer1 I just wonder...if we only had to pay for the time that the server is up, would these unexpected crashes, issues, downtimes end????
No, it's in the EULA that the services are provided as is, with no guarantees or warranties.

You know, there is the test server, might be a good time to do an early lag test there lol
And hey, for the NC/SC fight, ships are so much cheaper on sisi.
I hereby offer 1 bil(on sisi) to the alliance that makes it crash too :)

What do you mean with "go outside" ? You mean there is something else to do besides EVE?

how many of you know about database issues and their fixing? and how long it could take? guess not so much, so shut up and don't bother ...
think this patch is neccessary for the coming Tyrannis update tomorrow ... if they could fix the db issue within the next 4 hours their are still good in time, so I look up later and let the pros doing their work.
Cheers
