Tbh with more fight like lasts night I'll happily hang around untill xmas :) And afaik quite a few of the others feel the same way.
Rats = boring compared to the NC fleets.. odd respawn rate on them though but when you get a decent escalation they keep comming and comming untill one side or the other runs out of fresh ships :)

It is just another Downtime. Just wait for tomorrow when patch deployment comes, then it could be a quick and easy update or a slow and painful wait. Whatever it may be, I know there's still alot of performance fixes long overdue to fix these problems.

CCP is doing a fantastic job, all things considered, and EVE is an awesome game that YOU continue to play despite these unforeseen problems. Once you've developed, tested, and deployed any kind of massive-multiplayer game and hosted tens of thousands of players per day, released numerous expansions and successfully administered the game for several years with absolutely no problems, THEN you can call CCP fail. Until that day, pay your monthly fee, play the game, and endure the occasional glitches in the maintenance process. End of discussion.

Does CCP plan on having an extended downtime to upgrade for Tyrannis?
I was out of town during my first experience of an EVE expansion and I wasn't sure there was someplace this is announced?

i love CCP they make logging in at work hilarious, im in a reaper at a camp and want to cheap it thru at downtime :D guess reality caught up with me lmao

and whether or not serenity is an alt or not the point is moot, they do some fantastic work, this is the future of gaming, no two three year wait for an expantion you gota pay for, its applied developed and worke around us. how anoying would it be to paint a house with kids running around?

You guys really take the joke sometimes. this isn't really a suprise. and it will only get worse.
A 5 year old child would be able to tell that the current server is poor in terms of performance, last night for example the entire region of detorid was unplayable in. for no reason whatsoever. Fleet fights are impossible due to lag, there a still mny bugs in the game.
yet here you are adding planets and more strain on the already struggling server. I know you have a graphics team with salaries and noting to do, sack them, get more engineers to fix the damn thing you have now first.
As for dust, again more aditions to the game it doesn't need, if we wanted to play a fps game we'd go play COD or halo. which will dominate this market and DUST will be a flop. stop being greedy CCP think about current players instead of trying more and more ways to bring in new players. you send me 4 emails every month asking why 4 of my accounts have not been renewed, and all these offers. They will stay cancelled until you provide a stable and playable server for large alliances living in 0.0.
no one i know in the game gives a toss about planets and are only concerned with having a better performing server. Listen to your players for once instead of the guy in accounts going, well we got all these graphics designers and we need more subsciptions.
do us all a favour delay this crap expansion and fix the terrible laggy performance of the current server before ADDING MORE STRAIN ON AN ALREADY STRUGGLING SERVER

Computers fail sometimes, regardless if it's a cellular phone, PC or serverpark. I know you guys at CCP are doing everything in your power to solve the problem. In the mean time I'll work on a manufacturing spreadsheet on a large project.

CCP should calculate the amount of time lost by the players when the servers are offline and extend account activation with that time. 1 h every day + patches = less time for players to play . And i think all of us pay 30 days of game play but we have available 28 days. How about CCP make this updates and maintenance on their money not ours ?!!

Ever tried to play ANY other MMO that is more complex than spin the bottle? They are so much worse, Devs will normally not even care to write anything while gamebreaking bugs go rampage. Eve has the best damage control ever and by damage control i mean that they actually do control the damage and fix it, and inform us about their efforts.

Also....just a thought...Id honestly pay to play on like....a Trinity or w/e server (w/e one that introduced rorquals, JFs, etc etc) that was bug free and lag free. Seriously. I would PAY to play a couple month/year old game that works awesomely. Eve is LIGHTYEARS ahead of its competition all the time, the only prob is that it is also LIGHTYEARS ahead of current server technology :P
Just make the game work the way it is. I honestly dont give a flying **** about this....I remember being a wkd noob back in RMR and wondering wtf this kali/revelations thing was and why we needed it :) I remember thinking the tier 2 bcs were cool, but that was it :P

For god's sake: Fix your information policy! It's the _MOST_ annoying thing to shove downtimes into the faces of users giving UNNECCESSARY, BAD or NO information about what's going on.
I know you can afford to get away with this kind of behaviour as your license agreement allows the king to be the king, but it's really a shame businesswise if you do assume (possibly caused by still rising user numbers) paying customers will forget about lousy support like that.
How much would it cost you to make some person keep the ingame loginscreen messages up to date, avoiding to spread times and date you obviously underestimate most of the times?
I might have considered buying a console and DUST 514, maybe even multiple versions to give them away as presents. I say: Keep it, if you can't solve the most simple things!

Bit of a shame about the timing really - could have done a few things in preparation for the patch DT.
Oh well, another patch. Another goodbye to relatively short downtimes.
No rage, just lamenting a good thing that CCP had going.
I know that there are a bucket of ingame issues around performance, and the fact that many basic issues such as some sucky UI behaviour just never gets a look in before new features are piled on.
(Is it that hard to put a confirm popup on order cancellations?)
However, the mainaintence aspect of DT improved over recent months to a point where DT was a blip, not a night ender.
So hopefully CCP can get the server back and get to relatively short DT times ASAP!

Hey CCP!
Ok, so I've asked this before and feel it necessary to ask this again... what part of 'failover' causes the Eve server to die? I'm serious. A failover is a smooth transition from one [clustered] SQL server to another - it's supposed to be seamless - it's supposed to prevent downtime - so why does CCP continue to express that a 'failover' is the cause for the problems with Eve's database? Please stop calling it a 'failover' and call it what it is: a 'fail'. Failover's keep servers running, not cause outages - see... there is a difference.
I've offered you guys my 16+ years of IT experience numerous times and offered to help move you away from the dreaded M$SQL to a more reliable, stable Oracle environment... and still nobody beating down my inbox to get me! What gives? roflmao. Not much more I can do but keep offering I suppose - so, CCP want me to come play fix fix with their database yet? :)
Aside from the database issues and the performance issues, and the endless bugs and glitches in the UI, and the severe fleet lag, and a host of exploits, and... well, aside from all of that... I enjoy Eve and am glad you guys are working hard on it. I wish you'd focus a little more on resolving issues like this - especially given the frequency with which they seem to occur (and they're causing data loss too lately! bah!)
Some of us *are* actually looking forward to Tyrannis and the new industrial aspects - long overdue by most carebear standards. Unfortunate that the PvPers only get a facelift on the Scorpion lol - but after dozens of PvP-centric patches, they can bite our carebear butts :P

I just run a slideshow of my EVE screenshots so it still looks like I'm Playing. Keeps me calm and away fom the real world and real Issues.Besides getting podded in a slideshow doesnt hurt as much.

Actually folks, considering how many days EVE has come back online within 20-30 minutes of down time rather than taking the whole scheduled hour, this is a pita, but it just makes up for all those short down times, in one lurch.

A 5 year old child would be able to tell that the current server is poor in terms of performance, last night for example the entire region of detorid was unplayable in. for no reason whatsoever. Fleet fights are impossible due to lag, there a still mny bugs in the game.

Would this be a good time to suggest boosters for salvaging and mining? Synthetic Boosters for Mining yield and Salvage rate of fire would be wicked awesome. Thanks for the update and all your hard work CCP devs. It's a shame all the non-constructive grief that is posted... We are all a little concerned that the Tyrannis expansion may not scale as planned. Keeping that in mind I am hoping there is a good failover plan, especially for the day when the Command Centers are seeded. |

It was amazing! Eve wasn't working. I was forced to close my laptop. I
didn't know what to do. My life was stalled. I left the basement and awoke to a
new world. There was green grass, creatures that were able to fly in the air
without the use of a ship or warp drive. They made a 'peep peep' sound. I
viewed other humanoids (from a distance). I approached them (head down) and got a
quick look at them... so many of them.... girls, beautiful girls! There were
so many of them! I didn't know what to do... so I ran back into my
basement... and thank the gods, Eve was up and running again!

by the way, i think CCP guys must think about how to solve one problem, at least i think it's a problem.
i call it "the login problem" some corporations, or just group of friends make traps on low security/0.0 sectors. they just sit there in log off, and then when the target comes they all log in together and their ships automatically jumping to a specific location, so the big surprise comes to you
i think that's not fair. think about it. i'm not crying about some of my losses. i love to be wasted to hell! and to learn from my losses. but that's still not fair. it's just not fair cause there is no way to know somehow about coming danger.

Some of us *are* actually looking forward to Tyrannis and the new industrial aspects - long overdue by most carebear standards. Unfortunate that the PvPers only get a facelift on the Scorpion lol - but after dozens of PvP-centric patches, they can bite our carebear butts :P
2 Problems - Orcale is too expensive overall and it's too costly to change the database. I work with a company that processes several billion $$ in micro-ticket (less than $100) in transactions annually using a SQL database backbone. It's not a MSSQL problem.

See I find this quite funny that the server is down and it being the day before the patch comes out. I am currently down range in Afghanistan with the United States Army and well we aren't blessed with internet at remote FOBS (fire operating bases) to be able to download such a large file as what tyrannis is going to be. I got online long enough today so that i can do some updates and send some eve mails to friends. Now i can't even do that. I only have 1 hour on this internet but guess that one hour is going to be used up because CCP has let us down preparing for this. Now if anyone should be upset it should be I. But you know what. In the 3 years i have been playing. This is nothing new. Now it is just time for me to wait till my R & R time to be able to download tyrannis then get back on here again.

hold on you mean to tell me that you actually expect CCP to fix all the broken **** in this game before adding more??? WHere have you been for the last 12+ months? Expasions are how CCP "fixes" things they simply write more code and hope that fixes the FAIL code they put in the game last time, and if it doesnt oh well, what do they care? they dont pay to play this game. And the other guys idea would work wonders, if CCP had to credit ppl's account for each server ****up and extanded FAIL DT there would be about an hour of extended DT a year period. its amazing how fast things get fixed/ignored if its effecting CCP's wallet

This actually appears to be more of a wetware issue on behalf of those who are currently complaining about slight mishaps. They should resolve the problem that exists between the keyboard and chair before complaining about a EVE or how CCP is handling things. Take a chill pill and relax.

In a serious note, there hasn't been a real major issue for a while (aside from that items crash the other day), so whatever they are doing, it's been working to a degree. If you are joking around and killing time, then ignore me, if not, read on.
Sure, you pay to play the game, you also pay to have electricity and water to your house. Occasionally you get a notification that the power or water or gas or whatever will be off for a certain amount of time (Downtime if you will), do you get all uppity if the outage lasts a bit longer? Do you get a phone call to say "sorry, you can't have water because Bill pee'd in the pipes"? No, you get diddly squat. And when the power goes out in summer due to excess load, do you get some guy around to your house to say "hey, sorry guys, the substation got a bit overloaded and tripped the safety, we'll have it fixed shortly"? Like hell you do!
What gives you the right to hold CCP, a company that supplies a game, which is, after all, a LUXURY item, more accountable than the guys supplying the power to run your fridge, PC etc?
Seriously, all those having a genuine whinge, step off, go play Solitaire.

there is a patch tomorrow so i expect this is related. we just have to put up with it, carry on paying the cash. and hope 1 day they get it right :p

This downtime is deliberate ccp ploy to find all forum whiners, when they have enough of them they will all be banned, this will instantly raise the quota of satisfied coustomers meaning that the quality control guys get their 'good service' bonus

They¦ve got to hate fixing this one day prior to releasing a new batch of bugs (aka- almost full planetary interaction-BUT for the main module) .
Months of testing on Sisi and still issues.
empathy for the hardworking coders and a big stinking finger to the marketing-peeps of ccp for rushing things beyond reason.
this is more than a game its a social networking app and u have monthly paying customers.
Cancelling all subscriptions seems to be the only thing that causes immediate reactions.

If that would be that simple CCP still had done.
The main problem is that you can't simply fix that server.
You need to replace it with a complete different concept.
That is nearly impossible.
And beside this the game needs new stuff.
For CCP it's catch 22. They can't just fire their staff working in a routine together.
You can't just fire and hire and keep the quality finally.
Your complaints are generally right and we all love to see things in realtime by a "secret quantum technology" but don't do the mistake and look at such a BUSINESS like a naive child ... yes: finally it's a frakking business if you like it or not. Just keep in mind what the pre-development of such a game will cost BEFORE you can even start a beta test.

The flamers need to get a life here. Some of us are trying to follow this thread for updates from the Devs about how the problem is being resolved and the amount of flame we have to sift through is getting pretty ridiculous.

A failover is a smooth transition from one [clustered] SQL server to another - it's supposed to be seamless - it's supposed to prevent downtime - so why does CCP continue to express that a 'failover' is the cause for the problems with Eve's database? Please stop calling it a 'failover' and call it what it is: a 'fail'. Failover's keep servers running, not cause outages - see... there is a difference.
I've offered you guys my 16+ years of IT experience numerous times and offered to help move you away from the dreaded M$SQL to a more reliable, stable Oracle environment... and still nobody beating down my inbox to get me! What gives? roflmao. Not much more I can do but keep offering I suppose - so, CCP want me to come play fix fix with their database yet? :)
Aside from the database issues and the performance issues, and the endless bugs and glitches in the UI, and the severe fleet lag, and a host of exploits, and... well, aside from all of that... I enjoy Eve and am glad you guys are working hard on it. I wish you'd focus a little more on resolving issues like this - especially given the frequency with which they seem to occur (and they're causing data loss too lately! bah!)
Some of us *are* actually looking forward to Tyrannis and the new industrial aspects - long overdue by most carebear standards. Unfortunate that the PvPers only get a facelift on the Scorpion lol - but after dozens of PvP-centric patches, they can bite our carebear butts :P
2 Problems - Orcale is too expensive overall and it's too costly to change the database. I work with a company that processes several billion $$ in micro-ticket (less than $100) in transactions annually using a SQL database backbone. It's not a MSSQL problem.
I had a chuckle at that first comment.
Consortium Agent might have used Oracle, and those shiny new Oracle appliances are kind of kickass, but I'll bet he's never had to pay for Oracle. ;)
Database holy wars are banal. There are pros/cons for most leading vendors. If I had to put a totally uninformed opinion hat on I'd say the issue lays more with the framework built around a very non-boiler plate data model, as oppsed to other enterprise models you can sign up for.

In a serious note, there hasn't been a real major issue for a while (aside from that items crash the other day), so whatever they are doing, it's been working to a degree. If you are joking around and killing time, then ignore me, if not, read on.
Sure, you pay to play the game, you also pay to have electricity and water to your house. Occasionally you get a notification that the power or water or gas or whatever will be off for a certain amount of time (Downtime if you will), do you get all uppity if the outage lasts a bit longer? Do you get a phone call to say "sorry, you can't have water because Bill pee'd in the pipes"? No, you get diddly squat. And when the power goes out in summer due to excess load, do you get some guy around to your house to say "hey, sorry guys, the substation got a bit overloaded and tripped the safety, we'll have it fixed shortly"? Like hell you do!
What gives you the right to hold CCP, a company that supplies a game, which is, after all, a LUXURY item, more accountable than the guys supplying the power to run your fridge, PC etc?
Seriously, all those having a genuine whinge, step off, go play Solitaire.
They provide a service we pay for, so yeah, we have the right to complain when the service sucks. And when the gas or electric company disrupts my power, I complain to them too, cause I pay for their services.

Come on, MSSQL for database. Using Microsoft for databases spells trouble on this scale, try something different :D
There are many different RDBMS engines out there, some are better suited for some tasks then other, and some of those companies have more experience in making RDBMS engines which can handle this kind of traffic and requests volume.

It's been like this since the beginning. More stuff gets added, less lag/database issues/broken game mechanics get fixed.
Right before every patch there's a tsunami of forumposts begging to fix the existing problems instead of adding more features and stuff :)
The unexpected downtime atm is just channeling this phenomenon somewhat hehe.
Oh yea and Dust will be a Bust.

Hold some time.. they are cleaning the hamsters... they need some bath and need to dry then perfect before putting back into the Hamster wheel to generate power to the Database.
It's a complex task that 50 engineers need to do on CCP side...
Do CCP know what tha hell is ITIL? I think not! This is a Service that is PAY, not FREE! So, they need to comply the Service Level Agreement of 1 hour downtime, not 2+ hours.

If that would be that simple CCP still had done.
The main problem is that you can't simply fix that server.
You need to replace it with a complete different concept.
That is nearly impossible.
And beside this the game needs new stuff.
For CCP it's catch 22. They can't just fire their staff working in a routine together.
You can't just fire and hire and keep the quality finally.
Your complaints are generally right and we all love to see things in realtime by a "secret quantum technology" but don't do the mistake and look at such a BUSINESS like a naive child ... yes: finally it's a frakking business if you like it or not. Just keep in mind what the pre-development of such a game will cost BEFORE you can even start a beta test.
And so say all of us YOUR PAYING AN EFFING FORTUNE A YEAR CUSTOMERS!!!! Get a grip CCP!!! Adding new pretty little graphics to a game we can't even log onto is like chucking a deck chair off the Titanic. It's still going down...I now remember why I cancelled my account last year.

Really, their problem is the complete lack of regression testing on their part. This should come as no surprise they have continual "database issues", when they rely on the game players themselves to test their database. "We are having a mass test today, and would like 4000 players". I have an idea, get your DBA's to actually look at all the hooks for a change and do some regression tesing!!! You'd be amazed at the reliability you'd suddenly have if your DBA's actually did their job before releasing a "fix" or new ICP.

I've been with EVE for less then a month, and twice now you guys don't have your act together. I am not very convinced if I should keep playing this game. If it is true you guys run with MS SQL, then go figure, and consider Oracle. Also you guys should build a client for LINUX, am am sure you be doing much better. Stop feeding into MS monopoly!

Well, it is annoying to have to wait, but it's 1 day people, deal with it. Sure, it can mess with carefully planned skill training, but how badly will it screw that up? May long weekend just ended and most people should be home and will be able to queue in new skills whenever they bring it up, and though the game is fun, do you really need to be on it today?
Oh and though planets may add a little more lag, they need to add new content or the old players will get bored, and quit, then they'll lose money, then cutbacks come, then overall quality drops, then more people leave, then quality drops again, rinse repeat, game over.

Who cares if all the addicts ragequit because they can't play with their pixel-ships for awhile? They will resubscribe (because they're addicts) and more people will subscribe due to better performance. I for one have my doubts that the current server will hold up under EVE and Dust at the same time...

Sure, you pay to play the game, you also pay to have electricity and water to your house. Like hell you do!
What gives you the right to hold CCP, a company that supplies a game, which is, after all, a LUXURY item, more accountable than the guys supplying the power to run your fridge, PC etc?
Seriously, all those having a genuine whinge, step off, go play Solitaire.
They provide a service we pay for, so yeah, we have the right to complain when the service sucks. And when the gas or electric company disrupts my power, I complain to them too, cause I pay for their services.
Not really right: you have not the right to call CCP a greedy asshat what most of here do. You have the right to use the software as a licensee. The service is finally included but not your right to force CCP doing things better. Period.
The difference between a power supplier is that they have to take care about something what is life essential.
When power shuts down you lose money by broken business or your reallife is extremely affected.
Here we talk about a frakking game. Drop it today and your reallife will just be hard because you are addicted to it for no sense.
The game eats time and gives you nothing special for your reallife but simply fun.

LOL .... yes even the server is terrified of tomorrows patch and denies to come online. Why u guys there keep kicking a dying horse to finish the race. Dominion needs ER fixing and stay in bed till it gets full recovery from the hamster disease. As another player mentioned u seem greedy by keep on pushing tyrannis on a server base that is already that much struggled. Folks at ccp Where is this going? u trying to renew ur player base for total new ones?. The old ones already are *****ing arent you watching? (LOL maybe not, they are busy chasing the hamsters).
Ok this is why console games are winning ppl for they dont need that much infrastructure to maintain their games. Either u spend on better equipment or farewell ur upcoming expansions for they will fail.
p.s. We love eve and player base will keep grow if the game is having a year of good stability and no lag. This thread having grown that much so quickly and so many bitter talking is a sign. Keep ignoring ...

Relax everyone,
I have it on good authority that the Amarr empire will be supplying a good lot of Minmatar slaves to help speed up the whole patch process.
However they imported the slaves a day too soon and without anything to do they're running amok (amok amok amok) and taking down the database to give them something to repair.
Slave owners are encouraged to "discipline" their slaves (or any other slaves for that matter). This should help organize and speed up recovery.
Med-techs are standing by for slaves that have needed "extra discipline" or have had over enthusiastic owners.

I can tell you that this seems to happen when one of the following happens:
a) when you have just settled down with all the kids in bed and nothing to do
b) your training queue is nearly done
c) a mission is running out of time
d) you just paid the sub
CCP seem to go through these phases where things become crappier and crappier / upgrade / massive cluster**** - followed by incremental improvement until we go through the cycle again.
Once you're paying for all your accounts with PLEX you won't care any more. ;)

Very disappointing!
When i joined eve the server crashed about 4 times per day (was around 2.8 years ago, they really had it ****ed up then), went over though.
And CCP had a linux client, no one used it since pretty much no one who games uses linux. And eve runs under wine afaik, so it is a waste of time making a seperate linux client.

That's a shame... I work with lots of REAL corps that demands SLAs, and why not CCP can give us that? This is not a Service that we pay? I want QUALITY OF SERVICES!

There are no problems. Everything is in line with normal game mechanics.
If something is repetitive then it is either a surprise or out of the ordinary.

CCP must be having a barrel of laughs.... Every 10 minutes, it says that the surver will be back up in (3minutes+countdown) and eerytime i try to log in after it hits zero... it says its not accepting connections atm.... then it goes offline agian.. and repeat lol.

The last down time had updates every 30 minutes saying it will be another 30 minutes. This time.. no expectation of when it will be available again I log in for hours on end, but only actually have precious few minutes to play in any given week. Where is the incentive to sit thru another unknown downtime period?

1. We have players that are cussing and complaining that "OMG this is taking too long, this is why I left the last time."
1A. Well thank you for giving the reason and yet you still return. So to the I say STFU cause you will return again.
2. Players that have no life outside of the game, these people are extremely unique cause heaven forbid they don't know what else to do with their life. Now I know I am not saying anything new but figured seeing as they are still ranting around. Why the hell not.
2A. There is a world out there you have no clue of. Get out of your seat and go enjoy it a while yea? Hell and if you really want to go get ****y, go play another game like WoW where the Service is even worse. But don't worry we got your back when you come home. Not like you are cheating on the game.
3. Paying players that believe they are better and get to bish about anything and everything. Congrats to you guys most of all. Just cause you believe paying for the game that your going to make it go better. HAHAHA. You are the ones that make me laugh and make these forums enjoyable during down times. So with a caring hear and a warm hello I say to you players.
3A. Yes they are having problems... but you make it sound like OMG my 14.95 isn't helping AHHHHHHHHH. Seriously? I spend more than that on Clothing due to things now adays. And here is the best part. You expect a game that has been out for years to get better? Well they have improved a ton since the beginning and so yes it will take time. They will get to it when they get to it. So pop a pill and either stop playing like you should. OR pipe down and just wait like the rest of us. Its not that bad... really.... so what you can't change your training skills. Its a GAME. Get use to it.

agreed also might like to point out ITIL is ****e IMHO and whilst great for the anals doing telco stuff it has flaws - like the inability to do proactive fault fixing. Also lets point out that ITIL is change managment - if you can plan your problems then great, basicly it has nothing to do with this.
But perhaps pushing patch day back would be prudent IMHO, but thats just common sence speaking. A normal day prior to the patch would afterall be indicative of sanity as you could roll out the patch and then find you have a bug which was already there in the first place (seen that happen and casue a patch to rollback IRL on a major TELCO network) when it had nothing to do with the fault.
All that said - been alot of failovers happen and cause problems - in the early days they were called faults as if you fail over to another box to handle the work and that cant work then its more a fault as a failover would mean one box foo'd and failed over to a working box - least now I use the term failover. yes M$ is ****e, and DB2 rocks but hey, there is no 5 minute fix happening here and never will be.
So in summary - your right we have no SLA, and whoever said ITIL needs to be taken out and shot as it has **** all do with this and would make no difference - especialy as its flawed by design for proactive problem managment vodoo so :p.

Please CCP, after Tyrannis, give time to fix all the problems you have with the game, is falling to pieces!
Is the best game I've played and I will not give up on, but this is happening quite often and discourages me a lot.
Prioritize us as players, always seek a balance between us and the consecution of new ones, we deserve respect and the fact that these problems happen from time to time give to believe that you were not very interested.
My knowledge with servers and systems are very limited but simple logic tells me that something is not working well, I think the company don`t do what they need to do, the game deserve the best that technology can offer but i don`t know if you have it, do you believe that game deserve it?

I have't heard about MYSQL being used in a large bank database, where there is even higher amount of transactions per second then in EVE, plus MYSQL is now owned by Oracle, so what will be the future of it.

Learned my lesson, did set up 20+ days skill on both accounts before the new patch.
Good luck on the patching tomorrow, feed the hamsters some extra and see you in an improved virtual space soon.
Keep up the good work CCP and make this game even better then it already is.

What ever happened to the CCP transparency?
Correct me if i am wrong but CCP used to say what the problem was in detail and what was being done to solve it. When did that stop? Now-days they just say: "the server is going to be down for some time" as if we can't find that out by running the game...
Anyone remember when they had problems breaking 20,000 players mark and had to go on stackless python? What happened? Went from days with almost open source kind of explanation of what was wrong and what measures were taken, to dispensing "statements and answers in a can".
Doesn't just stop at development team, customer service took a dive as well. Few days ago my ship was destroyed by a griever and there was no CONCORD. I appealed the whole issue and, in about 3 minutes, received the "we'll look into it" response followed by closing of the petition. You would think they would toss an update my way on what that investigation was doing or anything since petition was not resolved instead of closing it.
Don't like the way this is, not one bit.
I would not be at all surprised if CCP Navigator was just some sort of a CCP customer relations spokesmen and not in any way part of the development team, given the details he provided us. Hell, if someone walked into the building the receptionist would be more informative.
Then again, maybe my hopes are still high and it is a bot.

Actually, the EULA says there is no warranty or guarantee of 100% uptime. Therefore, the price you pay INCLUDES server maintenance and unscheduled downtimes. If you want 100% uptime, the price would increase.
I agree that anyone who wants to cry about what a poor job CCP does has two options:
1. Cancel your subscription and leave permanently, or
2. Build a better MMO yourself and become a hero to gamers worldwide. Put up or shutup.

Community simply report the details provided to us from Operations when Tranquility is experiencing difficulties. While I appreciate that people want to be kept updated, I am not going to go down the road of simply making posts which are not factually correct which would be much worse.
In this instance it was discovered that the database needed to be re-indexed in order for Tranquility to perform in the correct state. Once this was discovered the fix took place very quickly and the server rebooted as quickly as we could.

Ah, one of the great disconnects in EVE.
In fact, PI-related activities may be directly tied to alliance and sovereignty wars since there are control tower and POS module BPOs on the market in Singularity. And all of those blue prints require planet-derived materials.
Also keep in mind all of the goods and materials that are consumed during wars. Thousands of tech 2-fit battleships, for example, have been blown up over the past couple of months in the North. That translates into tremendous potential for industry-inclined players regardless of affiliation and location.

I think that yes indeed we don't get enough info from CCP at all we just get the same old copy paste "sorry blah blah blah" and it is copy and paste theres no meaning to it at all. This alone annoys us.
Also why re-indexed? Isnt this one of the functions that happens in Downtime anyway?
People blame computers, computers are controlled my humans FACT. Therefore who is to blame?

Option 1 . Move on and let people have there point of view
Option 2 . Shut up and put up
Option 3 . Play something else
