Actually, from my random sampling of EVE demographics, that's not actually the case - there's less names that start from the second half of the alphabet, than the first half.
I've observed that 'J' seems to be frequently right in the middle of the gang, numerically. Which is quite handy.
Of course, the fact I tend to fly in fleets with Jade Constantine and Jasmine Constantine also does wonders for my 'not being primary'. (If you know who they are ;p)

fleet fights often degrade to shoot the guy at the top of the list, and depending how the fleet has the overview sorted, that means abc names are on the top and get primaried. Hope that helps. C C out.

A few of mine:
1. Its better to master one role than dabble in many. Experiment with basic t1 frigs/cruisers and when you find a job you like, train it for t2 and all support skills.
2. Battlecruisers are the best bang for the buck ships in eve. Every pilot should be able to fly one well. Cane > Drake > other BC.
3. Learn to use safe spots, local, intel channels, directional scan, bubble mechanics, warp/align mechanics, session timers, and scan lock mechanics early on. You will need them if you pvp.
4. People take their internet spaceships very seriously, and scamming is encouraged by CCP. This means the only people in eve you can trust are those who spam Jita local -- because you KNOW they are trying to scam you.
5. The fits on battleclinic are awful at least 75% of the time, and as a noob you won't know this. Ask an experienced corp mate, or look on the killboard for fits used by good players.
6. If a dominix or drake jumps into a system...its bait. There is always 25 guys in the next system, unless you have 25 in which case its 75.
7. 0.0 and low sec are much, much, much less dangerous than most noobs think. Once you learn the basics you will almost never die.
8. Your first few weeks should be spent trying new things about and learning a basic core of skills. Every role and class needs these skills:
- Fitting skills: Includes engineering 4+, electronics 4+, electronics upgrades 1+, energy grid upgrades 3+, shield upgrades 1+ and eventually advanced weapon upgrades 4+ - Basic energy mgt - Energy sys operation 4+, energy mgt 3+, other eman skills appropriate to your role (controlled bursts) - very basic targeting skills - long range targeting 4, targeting 3+, signature analysis 4+ - Drones - t2 light/medium drones (gallente and minimatarr are best) including support skills like navigation and drone interfacing at 4. These are one of the first two skills you should take to 5 as it pays big dividends in all forms of gameplay and is fast. - Tanking -- unless you plan on playing a few very specific niches within caldari/amarr, you should be able to armor and shield tank with t2 modules early on. This means shield upgrades 4 (lse2), tactical shield manip 4 (invuln 2), hull upgrades 4 (dc2, armor plates), hull upgrades V (ean2). As you can, also max out mechanic, shield/armor compensations, shield mgt/operations, and active rep skills (armor repair 4, shield comp 3+). - Basic Damage support skills - rapid reload, rapid firing, motion predition, and so on at 3+.
As you do these, also dabble in basic frigs and cruisers and see what you like. You should try out ewar, perhaps try out multiple races to see which you prefer, missiles vs guns, and perhaps specialized roles like logistics or nuets.
9. Stick to your racial core strength. Use your ship bonuses and racial core to stay on the beaten path of what your ship can do. This will maximize your results early on.
Minmatar - close range projectiles, neuts, shield and armor tanks, speedy Amarr - always lasers (long and close), always armor. very few ships use missiles, drones/nuets, or ewar Gallente - two distinct archtypes -- slow, armor tanked blaster/drone boats, often active tanked, and medium/long range ships with buffer. Caldari - missiles, ewar, and shield tanking. Caldari hybrid boats tend to be disfavored. Sadly the most common noob class, but also perhaps the most specialized.
10. Don't run missions for Caldari Navy. It pays about half what any other faction does. Pirate factions (in low/null sec) pay the most.
11. Leaving mining to the macros. Its incredibly boring and won't pay you hardly anything. Leave mining until you build up some skills and experience to use actual mining ships.
And lastly....
12. TRAIN LEARNING SKILLS FIRST. Training learning skills to 4/3 at a minimum will greatly help you. Also, buy a good set of implants (+2 or +3 depending on your cash) as soon as you can afford it

Kind of the same with names starting with Y, Z etc
