I did walk, but CCP offered me free time, so I took advantage of the offer. I also got a very cheap month, which is coming to an end soon. I haven't decided yet if I will be sticking around when I have to pay the full price.

I keep playing because the type of gameplay I'm doing at the moment isn't affected by any of the issues that some players are complaining about.
The only thing I have changed is that I don't read the forums as often as I used to due to the seemingly childish behavior exhibited by some of the players
A game such as this will have its up and downs; there is no changing that. The key is how you deal with it.
Many players are dealing with it poorly.

Why do I stay...yeah I'm one of the "lag naggers *****ing about 0.0/lo-sec" (feel free to troll, you will anyway so...<shrugs>), but I still love eVe, oddly there are quite a few players that want things fixed that still love the game...thats why they get so upset about fixing it. Of course, they get lost in the mob-sea of trolls, emo-ragers, etc...anyway back on topic...
1) My Corp-mates (great bunch of guys to hang with)
2) I'm still learning (maybe by the time I'm "good" things will be right again)
3) the rush of combat (so its pixel-ships...still gets you worked up in PvP)
4) Even though there are things broken...theres a lot that isn't.
5)?????
6)...profit.
sad yes, but honest.

Even though I have not had much time to play Eve lately. I keep it going because I now I will want to play it regular when I have time and I would hate to lose skill points. Also, there is not another game that has the ruthlessness of Eve with how open the Eve universe is. No other game comes close to the complexity.

because eve only has one very serious issue - lag in very large fleet fights - that i understand, as a software developer, is very difficult to fix. and eve can support larger PvP engagements without lagging out than other other game i've ever heard of.
and big blob fights aren't the only thin that this game is.
the rest of the problems are just essentially tweak here, tweak there. minor mechanic revamp here, minor mechanic revamp there.
people just emorage over lag completely in disproportion to all reality. this game supports way more combatants in a single fight without lagging out than any other game i've ever heard of.

Me, I just like the whole concept that is EVE, any flaws others see, I don't. the whole 'internet spaceships' is a blast for me. I'm not much for the 'hack and slash' mmos that are out there, I'm a scifi buff all the way. . . Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. Everyone has a right to be stupid, just some people abuse the privilege. |

Why do i stay? Because i have played a lot of MMOs and Eve probably has( had) the best support and WAS always breaking new ground.I left for 7 months and came back last month and i am disappointed.
They keep pumping out new content but dont fix old problems. The russians get a nearly instant response( i have seen this first hand) from a GM but English players wait weeks for the same thing. this game is really going downhill because CCP will not take 6 months and do a "we fixed it" xpack instead of rolling out more buggy content. that fix it xpack would be a much better business decision than something new. Do the corp heads even play the game?It takes nearly 60 seconds to undock sometimes in a system that is not busy. Using JBs in empty systems i may wait 15-20 sec to jump. 50% of the time i log in i am queued for the eve cluster .... with only 30k people or less logged in in a region that probably dont have more than 40-50 people in it.
It is really sad to see this game go downhill.
I stay because Eve has a lot of potentional. And i hope that the devs will start focusing on the product they are selling us right now instead of the product they want to sell us in 6 months. Because at this rate, I am not going to be around for to many more 6 months product lines( xpacks) to sell me.
I barely pvp anymore because its to laggy and takes to long to load the grids if their is more than 10 people on it.

Ed: Also, CCP Dropbear's knowledge of the game gives me some hope, while CCP Eris Discordia's acknowledgment of the growing disconnect between the players and CCP leaves me some room that things are gonna get better soon. Staying cause I'm only up to my half way mark in my year long subscription. If things keep getting worse I will devote my mmo time to a UO free shard again. It really makes no difference to me.

Coz ATM the forums are the main failure of eve online. This is clearly a signature. |

As I only have one active account, the cost of playing EVE is about fifty cents a day. And considering how much I play the game on an average day, it would have to be pretty friggin' bad not to warrant that amount of pocket change. And all issues considering, it is still a decently fun MMO.
I did come close to quitting a couple months back due to the sorry state of FW...but playing a couple other MMORPG free trials made me realize fairly quickly that carebearing it up in highsec with a decent friendly corp is still funner than most of the other grind-fest out there. I am sticking with aspects of the game that work for now, hoping those that don't get fixed later, and wishing for good things to come from Incarna.
And as for EVE players being utter bastards and forum trolls, look at the rest of the internet. We have a fairly friendly community, all things considered.

I stay because in the land of the blind (MMO's currently available), the one eyed man is king. It's the lesser of multiple evils. The best of a bad lot. The skinny ugly chick in a room full of fat ugly chicks.
