Flying into a celes gate camp on autopilot whilst watching the TV. Twice.
I think I tried taking on a m0o frigate squadron on my own in a crow once as well, that was pretty dumb. Nothing in leagues of 750mil or podding myself though

The *stupidest* thing I ever did was trade my Armageddon for a Mammoth named "Typhoon" :-( It continues to be my flagship to this very day, lol.
I also lent two of my personal battleship blueprint originals (yes, battleship BPO's) to EVE friends that I didn't know in real life... While this was a really, REALLY stupid idea, they gave the BPO's back a few months later when I asked for them What good friends I have!!
And then, of course, I went to send 600 million to my alt, Mr. P00piepants... Instead, I sent it to Mr. P00pYpants... The guy was a complete newb, apparently, and having never seen more than 5 mil in his wallet, almost had a heartattack. At the time, I thought, "No guy named 'Mr. P00pypants' will ever send my money back!" The chap sent every bit back the very next day!!

I then realised my torps were still comming from my scorp, which then blew the apoc up and podded me."
Oh my God, I laughed so hard reading this. Thanks for lighting up my morning. :)
I've only two things, newbie mistakes:
1) Same as some other poster here; had a friendly duel with a guy in my new shiny Blackbird (my first "big" ship ever). Being drunk, I forgot the 15 min limit despite the fact that several alliancemates warned me, and followed my friend back to a station. He survived unscathed because his ship had afterburners, but my Blackbird at its 200m/s top speed got blown to bits in under three seconds.
2) Thinking I could join in on an alliance hunt. In a Kestrel. Non-upgraded. With two Standard ML's. And nothing else. Our prey hit me with two missiles and brought my shields down to 24%. Thank God the Armageddon was nowhere to be seen.
EDIT: Bloody BBcode tags.. :P

thought of another:
invested 26M isk in Mordor's "investment program". this was after people had been making millions and millions through Mordor for weeks. days after i gave in and decided to try it out, he disappeared with all the billions of isk people were sending him, including mine.
26M doesn't seem like much now, but back then, it was almost everything!

Man, I guess you're two for two. First you delete an 11mil SP character just before people start being allowed to sell them for upward of 500mil each and now you delete a 750mil ISK character? Ouch...
Hmm, let's see... I don't think I've done many stupid things in eve and I've never used more than a cruiser for anything so I guess I'll post about someone else's stupidity I have made money from: I used to buy and sell harvesters. You'd buy at 500k to 1mil under the average price on escrow, then you'd put youir up for 1mil higher than the current price. There were some more people doing this so the price just continued to rise and onlookers just thought the price was naturally rising. Naturally, some people would buy them sometimes and hoard them, seeing the price rising. It all worked out pretty well - I made about 40mil from buying and selling harvies.
One day, when checking Escrow's harvester price, I came across an escrow named "haevesters". The guy had typo'd "harvester" and as aq result, there were a few named items between his escrow and the harvesters. Naturally, the people looking for harvies missed it. I would have ignored it as the price was 5mil and harvesters were selling at about 3mil at the time, but the 's' on the end of the escrow name raised the possibility that there were two there for sale at 2.5mil each, which I would like. I checked the escrow. Ten Harvester Mining drones :D. The poor guy must have typo'd "50,000,000" as "5,000,000" and "harvesters" as "haevesters".
Let that be a lesson to anyone who thinks typos don't matter. :)

1) When interceptors first came out i was a tiny bit drunk so i decided to shoot the station and then warp out to see if i could make it
2) Ordering a Fleet oc Damping scorps to jump in to a hostile camp with out sending a scout it. They were all close range ships sitting on the gate but they only got me
3) I will enter this one for my corp m8 Fisy as it is one of the all time classics. We jumped in and engaged a fleet over 2 times our size killed 3 bs and lost nothing before the order to warp out was given we all arrived at a safe spot when Fisty said i am going to scout the gate in my pod. He ejected to find that the only thing holding his ship together was his skills so his tempest went booooooom.
4) Listening to Garpy telling me there were only 10 pilots on the above jump in it turned out to be 22 bs

This happened less then 20 minutes ago...
Got about 6000 untis of Rocket Fuel as a bonus (about 3.5 mil isk worth). Couldn't sell it locally, so I decided to drag it three hops to sell it.
Decided to add an Overdrive Injector to my Badger to make it a little bit faster since it was going to take 2 loads regardless. Accidently bought an OD Injector off the market for 11 mil isk because I was clicking so quickly.
Total time to equip and haul: 45 minutes
Total profit: -7.5 mil isk

B4 Castor, when you jumped through a stargate, you showed up in the destination system at a Jump In Point, rather than a gate...
Griefers camped thses JIP's, could lock on you B4 your client loaded the system. They had you scrambled & webbed b4 you had a chance to do anything...
They would either ransom you for ISK, or simply blow you up...
CCP finally game to their senses and changed the game to gate to gate jumping... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |
