Bad idea. i can't really be bothered to go into the multitude of reasons why.. yes it is possible to do a good film about eve, but improbable.
However, what i COULD see being good, if a project similar to the Animatrix was done, that would be excellent, using the current eve litriture as a base point... with either a series of short stories in different or similar animation styles... it would be very nice to see. i dont know the comercial sucess of the animatrix however, and if it was seen to be a sucess or not.. but in my humble opinion it was better than the two most recent films in the trilogy.
i doubt that it would happen, but i think it would be preferential to that of making a feature length live action film... which would only serve to distance itself from the feel, plot and whole character of eve... whereas an animation would be much better, as eve already has some quite striking visual styles that would be lovely in an animation... anyway i've rambled on too long just my two pennies

Is that enough, or do I need to elaborate?
Wing Commander was great movie, altho it didn't resemble original Wing Commander game a bit.
The storyline was badly written and casting could have been better. They tried to squeese too much to too little, mini series would have been a better option. But some technical aspects in that movie were more than correct to space warfare.
For storyline & acting 5/10 Technical ideas 9.5/10 Total production 3/10
You have to remember that StarLancer (the game) is greatly influenced by the Wing Commander movie. Basically starlancer is rerun of the Wing Commander movie SigPl/HQ&Log Coy/MNB(C)/KFOR |

Gallante - Caldari wars... add sex, messed up love affair, rude language => total hit. Comparable to Pearl Harbour.

Can I be played by Luc Besson please?
On a serious note... I think some gamer stuff on the TV would work quite well. Not something fictional, but based on the actual events in EVE, maybe with interviews with players, interviews with devs, a run down of in game politics, fleet battle videos etc. I think if it could get people hooked on the game content people would want to watch it.
Not sure how possible that is, but I have seen similar game based things on channels like Bravo before. -----------------

If you haven't watch the series Firefly - do so - seems to have the atmosphere of what I would deem for an EVE TV Series/Film.
Not sure what others think --------------------------------- No Slugs were harmed in the creation of this signature --------------------------------- |

The main problem with an EVE movie is this: Who are the good guys? Who are the bad guys?
In EVE, there is no hard and fast seperation of good vs evil. It's all grey, depending on your viewpoint.
The only way an EVE movie could work is if the storyline had someone from old Earth found and revived from cryogen sleep, aka Buck Rogers. Then have him/her interact with each Empire to show the entire picture of what's happening. The story would entail thier adaptation to this future and how they would react to each race's views and sociopolitical structure.
The 'Hero' could initially be found my Amarr while they are doinf mineral scans on the edge of thier space. A probe would indicate a faint energy source leading them to the sleeping Hero.
Following would be lots of action as somehow the hero visits each Empire as he/she seeks answers to why and how this future happened. In the end he can be taken by the Jove who give a full explanation of the events that lead to EVE, as the story unwinds.
Insert lots of action and exploding ships as well as drama from interacting with each Empire and it could be a great movie.
Well, in my opinion anyway.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

Edited by: Thalanor on 28/12/2004 15:30:20 a full length film sounds a bit iffy, but what about something like RedvsBlue except for Eve rather than Halo. ----------------------------------------------

If they did do an EVE movie, they would portray the Amarr so wrongly it wouldn't even be funny. In order to make the the prime evil of the galaxy, they would have to make them all in baby-killing, woman-raping psychopaths. Which is completely unlike us :D ------

I would gladly assist CCP in helping this Motion Picture come into fruition, so long as Ron Jeremy is cast in the role of "Trevedian: Ultra-Sexy Mercurial Psychopath" ...

A TV series would be a great idea actually, if every asian toy manufacturer can create one to peddle their crap why not EVE?
Of course I'd have to be the star, ducking in and out of every arena in the galaxy as to give an unbiased status report and a fortunecookie epilogue.
No really, it would have to be Concord logs and their agents, undercover or otherwise being portrayed. Some corporations too would be better off written out of the series as their punny names would have people diving for the remote.

completely agree
Resident Evil was ace. Took $18m. The sequel took $50m. Milla Jovovich is the perfect woman.

just imagine ur waching eve motion picture in cinema ! a big battle is about to begin , then sudenly screen frezes !! "Server lag omfg"
No no, i got a better example.
Hed-gp, two huge armies prepare for the final battle(and celes apoc in the middle getting pwned) one group jumps into another and... cinema lights turn on, and the screen shows "node crash!"
..oh yea, then it reconnects and you hear all the pilots from both sides cursing at the terrible lag and server performance.
damn, love that plot ------------------- :: finite horizon :: killboard ::

TV series. A la Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. No central cast or over-arching plot, just a series of episodes set in the same universe.
Seriously, someone should direct the Sci-Fi channel to the "Backstory" section of this site...
