This is a much better idea. The eve universe lends itself much better to novel/short story format than a tv or film adaptation.
In fact, I wonder if CCP has considered taking the current backstory and publishing it as a collection of short stories? If they were to do this, perhaps adding a few new ones I wouldn't hesitate buying it. Whoever wrote those stories (I really should find out) is very talented.

A motion picture.... Mmm...
I can see it now... A twisting and turning storyline of conspiracies (preferably not internal  ) of the different races against one another, finally culminating in a final showdown of strength where thousands of ships are pitted against one another.
Projecile rounds fly, hybrid charges buzz and energy lasers flash... But there is no clear victor, so they draw another peace treaty, but the borderlines of the factions have all changed.
To help form the specific storyline, however, CCP might like to release a large batch of agents and missions into the world that will somehow involve the player-created Alliances in a great mega-event that lasts for months. Then, after that event, CCP can then put to good use whatever happened during that event, refine it into a move storyline and use it to produce the movie, partly to help everyone get an idea of what really happened elsewhere during the event. This could mean alliances going against one another as a result of deception by GM agents, or a dissemination of information concerning a conspiracy to obliterate another alliance. It's all politics, and it just gets better... |

I know, Jim Henson's company can make the movie. It will be based around certain members of BoB and SE. The characters will be played by a buncha muppets... Bah nevermind that would be a documetry

How about just start from the perspective of a aspiring Matari pilot who is suddenly thrust into hard, unforgiving world when his academy is destroyed and only a few survivors are left - several students and a single mentor who took them out for a training mission, allowing them to avoid destruction.
Any more ideas on what should happen next? Go on, tell us. Then after that, another person can give an idea on what should happen after that as well.

Start with a novel. Great way to entice moviemakers, and, much more importantly, a novel can hold more background fluff then a movie.
It would have to be done by a "pro" though- involving the community in this would make for one hell of a legal minefield 
(speaking about which damn Sarkos for writing up the ideal synopsis for such a novel )
