It's a mistake to look at the ruling and the award of damages as one. By that's a topic for another thread...
Carry on.
A jury in the USA - 12 people sucking on sodium flouride and educated by a system that was jacked 100 years ago to churn out morons.
America gets funnier every day as the people continue to try using the state and it's corrupt courts as their weapon yet continues to go bankrupt.
The screams of lawyers and yuppies as the guys with mohawks kill them for their gasoline will be sweet music.

As tensions grow in America, as divisions flourish, and the nation leads up to something unseen but ugly, prissy vindictiveness and moral sadism become normal. We have become a gotcha culture, watchful for transgressions meaningless but forbidden, so that we can make the malfeasor squirm. How we enjoy the squirming, the writhing on camera, the heavy punishments inflected for nothing.
I can make guesses that sound vaguely plausible. The United States is not a happy country. People waste their lives in meaningless jobs, trapped by the credit card, the mortgage, the student loan. They know they are wasting their lives. Racial anger runs high. Women resent men. Divorce screws up kids. There is the two-hour commute to the cubicle and back to the sterile box in the anonymous subdivision, the lack of influence over their lives, life from paycheck to paycheck. And anger at affirmative action, either because they suffer from it or because they need it. Life is just flat stressful.
People get spiteful, mean, like mistreated dogs. They want to make others as miserable as they secretly are themselves.
(this is why most of the griefers - the sort who do not even bother to call themselves pirates out of a need to cover their acts - in this game are Americans)
So OF COURSE people are going to start talking lawsuit.

No color means no color. One of the semis is in purple and blue and as such should not have been considdered as a semi. Unshaded is mentioned as a separate issue all together so no they do not mean the same thing.
Ohh and anyone who didn't notice; Rules has been changed again to include that you may not use any logos from the sponsors unless they have received specific approval from those sponsors, meaning that anyone with eve and DA logos is disqualified.
They also changed the unshaded/uncolored lineart rule to only uncolored to suit their claim of uncolored/unshaded to be the same.

It is just bettere to move on. At this point there's nothing we can do ... only CCP can do something if they don't want to be trained in the **** as long with DA.
The contest was clearly a fake (one of the most important contest hosted from DA let's say, also for the $$$ of the prizes), but what do you expect on relying on a website like DeviantArt, what do you expect on relying on such unprofessional judges and organizaion ? Bad call from CCP US at chosing DA as a partner.
From the CCP point of view, a great marketing idea has turned into a disaster: I bet they are more upset than us. From our point of view is just some time wasted (lots of time for someone) ... but it was a "free to apply" contest so there's nothing we can whine about. Some of us just submitted entries "for fun" like myself ... if you did it with so much effort, I just suggest in the future to choose better the contests you apply in, and therefore to put effort in contests you can really trust.

There we go. Go sit in a dark room and cry to mama, don't sulk, because big picture its just a foolish drawing contest. Great answer.. except that sulking would imply an inability to do anything about it, and as I pointed out a day in court is doing something.. ...and Jesus how kind of you for the holy advice about "just take it! don't complain".. enjoy that time on the cross did you? so next?

They were good, not great, not win worthy compared to a lot of the art, by any means. I'm gonna put them up on my EVE links and training site tonight. I'll post a link to give the naysayers something more to snicker at me about.
Of course since I hadn't used a 3D app since auto-cad 8 and design-cad, I felt they were cool. Links later, I promise.
The thing is I didn't follow the rules, my 6 drawings were renders not line art, If I had noticed before the contest went to judging I would have changed them. If I had noticed after the judging had started, and all this was being questioned I would have yanked em. I said it before, theres noting in the prize packages I can't afford, except having a ship added to the game. And mine were hardly good enough by comparison.
