Same (or similar) situation here: while I do have a PS3, I'm not particularly interested in Dust. However, my brother would like to try it. Am I allowed to give my beta key to him? darmwand Repossession Agent http://www.repo-corp.net/ Recruitment is OPEN |

All keys have been allowed to be transferred so far, so I don't expect this round to be any different.
Once the key is redeemed you are bound to the NDA, regardless of whether you are the original owner or not, of course. |

Yes you can give your friend your code if you like.
I would recommend you claim the CCP code in Account Management and give them that with the instructions we provided. That way they can go to the dust514.com/redeem page themselves to enter the code and proceed from there to get their desired region PSN voucher code.
Remember, only the PSN voucher code will work on the PlayStation Store.
Enjoy! CCP Alice -á Web Architect

Sorry CCP, i would love to play it if it was on PC, but i won't be buying a console just for DUST
I said it from day 1 I started playing EVE Online (in 2004) that a little 1st person shooting for station conquering (like away teams/strike forces and such) or inside ship battles would be quite fun and now you made DUST which is great, just not great enough (meaning not for PC). |

Any game in which the beta is used to generate revenue but its players are still under NDA sounds like a scam to me. The company can build up hype to get more users and micro-transactions, but the NDA would prevent criticism which would deter new players. |

I've had beta access since May and haven't paid a cent.
Andre II wrote:Apparently my code doesn't work, I entered it but it keep saying "enter valid code" I copy and pasted it also so i didn't misspell it. When applying for a key you are asked what region it is for. Is your PSN account created under the same region? The PlayStation Store is region locked and won't accept keys for other regions (but the game itself is world-wide).
It's also possible the key system is handing out the wrong keys again. You can send a petition to [email protected] with a description of your error, your invalid key, and your country of residence (which should match your PSN region). |

I've played quite a lot and well, I detest the PS3 controller for FPS games. It's completely rubbish for that kinda thing.
For those of you like me, then you can get one of these to convert an xbox controller and remap the keys. 100% worth it in my opinion.

There aren't any issues here that we can identify and codes are being successfully redeemed as I type this. All I can recommend is that you ensure you copy / paste correctly, try a different browser, or try again a little later. Failing all that, you can contact [email protected]. Our support people can validate your CCP Code and help you from there.

As a long time EVE player, for some reason I didn't receive any email whatsoever about a beta and not being a FPS button monkey, (or console junkie), had no idea it was even out. (until an EVE buddy informed me) Thankfully, after digging through a page of Google hits I ran back into CCP/this thread, lol. (so thx to the OP!) If I like it enough I guess my next PS3 purchase will be a kb/m. (tho I'm not holding my breath) I know it's been stated that the full game will support them but can anybody confirm whether or not the beta supports keyboard/mouse input at this time? Thanks! |

Thank you CCP for this opportunity to play Dust. But it is s futile attemp.
I will not be going out to buy a Playstation! This talk of Dust has been going on for 3+ years. What market are you trying to reach? or what market are you trying to keep out1? I know, I know, you've heard it a thousand time, but you should have made this for PCs (and MACs).
There are definetely age groups in EVE that did not grow up on Playstations and we might like playing Dust. However, I did have a son who enjoyed Duke Nukem! ( But he doesn't play EVE, and has no interest in Dust. He and his wife play WOW, 'till the wee hours of the night. You need to reach out at get that type of dedication.
I don't know what your market surveys tell you, but if you are now reaching out to the EVE players to play Dust . . . something just doesn't seem right, somethings wrong somewhere. Two different genres.

I just realized that it skipped the verification code and just gave me PSN voucher. I put it in the PSN netowrk and the original one worked. So i was wrong. It is not giving out bad codes. At least for me. |

EDIT: The Code that I thought was incomplete was actually The PSN voucher. It skipped the Verification code. Possibly because I had registered for the game a while back.
And yes I need to learn how to edit a post instead of quoting myself...
So if the verification code fails then It just might be the PSN Voucher. |

I will have to give that a try with my main, good thinking. Im not sure I would have made the connection. And I too had signed up earlier with my mains info so that could possibly be why it didnt require the dust514 verification.
To those of you who got the 35 character code and are having trouble getting it to got through...ie the big white box with 500 in the middle, just keep at it trying, I think their servers are overloaded as that screen is the error page. mine worked after trying it repeatedly over the period of hours, completing one step, then having to repeat for each step after til you get your PSN code. Good luck and fly, run, and shoot safe. |

hmm I figured out if you have the 12 digit key and go to the PSN menu for "redeem code" as if you were goign to put in a money card or something, the code will work there. No clue why it wouldn't let me redeem the codes on the website through the ps3 though. either way I was able to play.
Definitely has a couple issues with aiming, tried playing around with sensitivity but no matter what I set it to the aim feels mad jerky. Especially on some of the vehicle turrets .

I just don't get Dust to be honest, as it's limited to a single console since CCP couldn't get a deal going with microsoft and a port for the X360( so there goes half the console market out the window automatically), then add that there's no PC version and to make it worse, both sony and microsoft are releasing new consoles in 2013 and there's tons of first person shooters on the current PS3 as it is.
So given all the above, how does CCP expect Dust to be a success is beyond me?. |

We do not want a PC version. A console to PC port will end up rubbish, will leave the console gamers a poor victims when playing with a controller and will leave those of us who used mouse and keyboard for dust514 without easy targets that can not fight back.
So please, no pc port, keep it console only, so it stays fair. |

pretty sure you just violated the non-discloser agreement you were supposed to read but just clicked through obliviously. Personally I would laugh if they banned and sued you.
as for all these winers crying about there not being a PC version and claiming that "their" money paid for the development of the game by being eve subscribers.....your subscription to eve pays for....wait for it.....EVE. Nothing more. So if your truely too poor to buy a PS3 (but can afford a gaming computer) I am truely sorry, it sucks. For the other 95% of you complainers either stop being a cheapskate, even if you have to skip a frapa-fruity-chino in the morning for a month or unsubscribe to your fav x-rated website and save up the money to buy one; If your a PC fan boy (and I myself love computers, build my own high end gaming computers and play on them daily) and/or simply hate console games so much that you refuse to play a game you want to because its on console (which is really just a slightly limited computer that cannot be upgraded or modified with new hardware every month and will always play the game disc instead of having to hope that after you install a game and fire it up that there wont be a driver or hardware conflict forcing you to spend hours or days troubleshooting and maybe never get working)....well you all just stick a sock in it. As a person who actually bought PS3 to try out Dust ask if anyone can clarify following :
I already :
1) Got vaucher and activated it on PSN 2) Downloaded the client
After the startup client asks you to provide e-mail adress for PSN , i enter it but nothing happens , no error or confirmation. Is it supposed to be this way? I need to wait till servers get up?
p.s: also loggin to beta forums with this PSN account results in following error : "Sorry, but an error occured while processing your request." |

I finally get to play Dust and now I see that CCP have managed to ruin a game by controler setup alone.
R1 is the only option for trigger and there is no way to remap it.
R2 is the trigger button on the majority of games and muscle memory affects your reaction times.
Currently I keep swaping weapons when I mean to shoot which makes it even worse.
It is almost like a very bad joke.
You are already in a limited market because of the one gaming system.
Please allow people to remap controls to specific buttons of thier choosing. It cannot be that difficult. |

Yup if you had already registered your interest in the beta and received a PSN voucher code directly through Account Management, you would not have received one in yesterday's giveaway (because you already have one :p).
For full clarity for anyone else who might be in a similar situation and not realize:
The CCP code used to get a PSN voucher code through dust514.com/redeem is a 35 digit code with the description "DUST 514 Beta CCP Code" in the voucher center.
The PSN voucher code used on the PlayStation Store is a 12 digit code code with the description "DUST 514: Closed Beta PSN Voucher Code" in the voucher center.
You use a PSN voucher code on the PlayStation Store to get DUST 514, and the code must be for that store's region (NA or EU).
Hope this helps! CCP Alice -á Web Architect

First rule of Dust is you dont talk about Dust is what your saying. Yeah i think it talks a lot more about how they want user feedback in the NDA, but whatever, they do say that you should talk about it on the dust boards so I'll go and do that then.
CCP Alice. quick question (or any other dev who pops in)
you say that the 35digit code is for use on that dust/redeem website you link to in the first post. So what happens there, then they give you the 12 digit code to go use on your playstation? Or do they just start the download. Cause my friends got the 35dig, and he goes on his PS3 to the website and other then 80% of the time its just a white box that says 500. He puts in the code and it still pops the "enter a valid CCP code" |

Eh, they obviously know they aren't going to be able to shut everyone up 100% about a game when it's in "PUBLIC" Beta.
The NDA is supposed to protect them from large news outlets "leaking" the information, and to make sure players don't do so on mass venues so that they can control any press material while the game is in development still and clearly not generate negative press over some incomplete functionality.
Telling your friends what you're doing in a "Public Beta" area is pretty clearly not going be able to hold any water anywhere.

Use your PC to redeem the 35 digit code at the Dust website. This will give you a 12 digit key for the PlayStation Store.
The PS3 can only download games via the PlayStation Store. The browser does nothing in this regard and frankly it's rather terrible for regular browsing - don't use it if you don't need to. |

I'm not too sure but I think it's because Microsoft would never let a game on their market without there being a way to make money off of it. That and they're against cross console gaming. |

The game is accessible to all users on a PS3 as long as a valid PSN account owning the game is linked to the console. Logging in still binds them to the NDA.
As for Dust on 360 - it is mainly because Microsoft is the Apple of the console world. As a developer you can only provide games using their servers, having updates checked by their lengthy (weeks) QA group, and content sold for their minimum set price. Basically, Dust as a game connected to EVE with free expansions would never have worked. Sony is no Google Android, but they've been much more agreeable to CCP.
PC is more of a matter of picking your markets, and isn't ruled out for a later release. |

Bought one to play an FPS game I was then playing on a PC to see if the experience was better - gave it away to the kid next door after a about a month and went back to the PC and the same FPS game.
Did not like the way the game was dumbed down for the console and did not like playing with a population of 12 year olds.
Maybe it is different now, but the bad taste it left is still with me.

Please make it for PC as well. I'm not going to buy a PS3 because you can't be bothered to add something to EVE that IS honestly a great contribution to the game as it stands. Nice of you to work with SONY to make something that's never been done, a Halo FPS and then pat yourselves on the back for being amazing and original.
You folks are BRILLIANT but come on! Make this for PC as well. Walking around stations? Fixing Fighters? Can you folks please prioritize things a bit better instead of 'HEY LETS CHANGE INVENTORY!' because somehow, when redoing the Peanut Butter and Jelly, you managed to put it on the wrong side of the bread and set it on fire...
I want to give you props but my other gamer friends just laugh at how ridiculous Eve is about adding / changing things, and who cares what they 'think' but I tend to agree with them about the prioritizing thing...

Guys having problems with the codes and accounts: I just did it and did not need to go to my email once. Follow the steps in the OP (I didn't follow the on-screen instructions when I got to the claim website) and you should be fine.
Side note: To the people crying about not having a console or a PC port. DUST 514 was not "Built off your backs". You decided, on your own, out of free will, to give CCP your money in exchange for a product (EVE). What they do with your money is none of your business and you have no rights over it whatsoever.
Here's a fix for y'all: Buy a PS3 OR Play EVE Online. Boom! Science. |

Forgive me if I somehow missed the response to this, but is there confirmation whether or not D514 Beta supports Keyboard and Mouse? I'm going to assume the answer is no as I don't see any options for it under the Controls Menu Options.

Funny though, that there are EvE players who do NOTHING else but guarding the low / null gates ALL day and ALL night; having no life and being the last who go offline and the first who come online after DT, to be right back at their precioussss gate, before any unworthy scum can infect their noble space with their presence. On the other Hand, there is the "faction" of players who are online all day, turning their ships and walking around in captains quarters, just to fly one nippy LVL4 and pose with the omfg navy raven in front of the mission hub.
Even more funny is it, that mostly exactly these players are moaning and making fun of WOW and other mmorpg's players in certain known EvE chat channels;
And - Cap'n Overpwns out there - remember: You would be NOTHING without all the carebears and noobs, kiddies and missionrunners and miners, because they are the real backbone of the universe... ;)

Hi Dev!
I did all the instruction you mencioned but i have 1 issue.
When i redeemed my voucher code at the final step, i was told that i-¦ll have the redeemed code also sent to my email. I didn-¦t took note of the redeemed code at the time because i wasn-¦t near by my ps3.
1. I didn-¦t receive a copy of the redeemed code to my email. 2. Now i can-¦t get it back via account mangement as it says that it is allready redeemed.
Question: How can i get the redeemed code again so i can activate it on my ps3?.
Please, advise.
Thank you for your time. |

there is a problem that i spotted a month ago regarding psn even on getting the Closed Beta Key for Dust 514 by going up on the station through the stand at Playstation Home / quest room. when i finally unlocked the stand to go up on the 'Dust 514 station' after completing the sets of quests and watched the race films and lost a game of Slay i got the beta key anyways, even though it shouldnt have given me it. So technically its been free for people who have found out about this.

No PC support. F#$% script kiddies and cheaters. (not to be confused with hackers, script kiddies and cheaters aren't hackers)
I know it's still possible to "cheat" from a console platform, but it's not NEARLY as bad. Besides, the console will have keyboard and mouse support anyway and if you don't have a PS3 already, you shoulda bought one a long time ago IMO. |

WHoohoo Dust514! Sharing: I choked up three-bills and bought a new PS3 320 Motion dedicated to Dust514 game-play. I'd prefer the PC but deploying to console is understandable for FPS game and for reaching a large user base. Nice strategy I am sure...
I was disappointed the Eve Beta codes failed to work and the support was less then useful - completely unresponsive given time schedule for the beta event.
Not willing to give up for the weekend event besides having a nice new shiny PS3 toy and all - I decided to purchase the DUST514 Merc pack and downloading from the PS store was painless.
Best $20 I spent for weekend of entertainment! Drink More Beer after every match - seemed to help me improve using the PS3 dual-shock controls.
The game is a blast. I tried many of the modes and used the new content. I had a great time skirmishing on several maps.
Hats off to CCP Dev team and mgmt. This game will be a great success. It is really fun to play and I am sure there will be many many subscribers. And the upcoming integration will be a well received event I believe - can't wait.
I was bitter vet skeptic and now a PS3 owner operator - what can I say - and if I end up divorced when choosing between Dust/Eve and honey-does with wife...well I hope that doesn't happen and I can have my cake and eat it too. |

It's only likely to get bigger. If you look at the size of other FPS or TPS games, they're similar. It's just normally masked by being on a disc. A total of 10 isn't unlikely.
If you've not seen, at least with the fat PS3s, it's actually pretty easy to increase the size of your drive. As long as you have somewhere to backup the original. Just back it up, switch off, pull a small bit of plastic out, undo a screw, pull out the caddy, undo 4 screws, put a new drive in the caddy, put the caddy back in, screw it in, and put the plastic front back on. restore from backup onto it.
Just needs a 2.5 inch sata drive. FuzzWork Enterprises http://www.fuzzwork.co.uk/ Blueprint calculator, invention chance calculator, isk/m3 Ore chart-á and other 'useful' utilities. |

More then likely I am guessing if you never recieved a code from this recent beta promo by ccp, you won't be getting one now. that ended on monday I think... However, you may still have an opportunity to get one from sony on the PSN. You will need to go to the playstationHome and go to the navigator thing and find the dust514 room. Once there you speak to recruiter in there, he will give you directions to get a beta code sent to your email. Hope it works for you |

Why didn't you get the key before buying the console? What's that, blame culture you say, ah right, how about you accept your own actions opposed to blaming someone else, oh wait that's what adults do, sigh |

Really should rename the thread "Full Beta access for whomever we decide to give it too"
Might be a little more correct as my account shows no vouchers for Dust beta either |

Devs:
Lots of people looking for codes. Half tempted to say that, because this was given out in August and people are just now looking in Oct/Nov/Dec that inactive/new accounts didn't receive one.
Any word on another drop of codes for current Subscribers? |

The devs said free codes for all - seems like that was BS - so how is this the players fault.
I don't mind folks sticking up for the company when they are being unfairly criticized - but this seems a fair cop to me. |

This is making me wish I had a PS3, but it won't make me get one.
