Edited by: Tippia on 19/01/2011 20:15:50 One thing:
In this image, you're still missing a critical problem that makes the creation process needlessly obtuse.
That snapshot in the dialogue box needs to be much larger. Why not use the full-res local render that the camera creates? It already exists, and we can already get at it by skipping out of the client, so why not use it? Why use a far too small snapshot that doesn't tell you what the result actually looks like?
If that means blowing the dialogue up over half of people's screens, so be it. That's infinitely better than giving them a tiny, featureless, detail-less, lossy-reduced image¦ (and the render is only 512+512px, so you'd have to be on a veeeeery tiny screen to have it become too large to show).
¦ The reason I describe it as such is because I have a gut feeling that the snapshot used in that image is the full-res image, scaled down to become a thumbnail, which would mean you're actually doing more work for far less usability and effectiveness. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Confirmation Image needs to be larger - use the 512 pixel version, the avatar on my client appears with her eyes closed, but this was impossible to see in the snapshots.

It would be nice if we could also see what the avatar will look like in the smaller portraits, my alt (this one) looked great in the large fullscreen but the tiny icon in say chat and local looks messy since the background and the hair melds together poorly.

Question: Say that some lazy dude (or someone who is just otherwise offline for the time being) doesn't create a new avatar at all until the time runs out, what happens? Will you get a randomized character? Will you be forced to enter the character creator next logon? What happens if you abort the creation? do you still get logged in or do you get thrown out?

When we re-customize, will this be starting from scratch, or using the avatar we worked so hard to create?

Also, in previous iterations, there was an "undo bar" at the bottom. Which was actually really helpful.
Also: does "recustomization" mean I have to start from scratch, or from the existing character? (Obviously, we'd like the latter option.) 60day ETC |

Thank you CCP!
So I will be able to redo the portrait of my main (which I do not dare to show here) and hopefully create a convincing result on this one.

Excellent news.
I have another suggestion. When you are taking your portraits, You should be able to see what those portraits look like in the sizes that will be used in game. I chose a pose that looked good when looking at it in it's larger form, but it the tiny size most of us see on a regular basis it doesn't look good at all.

So when you guys put in long hair for intaki you will let all intaki characters re-roll their portraits right?

According to the message I got sent in response to a petition, we will use our current portrait as a starting point. So I think that means we'll start from what we already have.

somehow, my main ended up looking like a gay biker. Didn't look that way in the character creator, or maybe it did and it just took some time to sink in......maybe its the lighting.... Linkage

In a future expansion, we'll be able to customize our characters with tattoos, piercings, etc. I assume that hairstyle will be another thin we'll be able to change.

Very appropriate response.
I feel embarrassed, though, not having noticed the problem. Having created a number of characters on sisi, that last step never appeared to me as problematic. |

From all that's been written lately it seems you'd start with your current model; though it would be nice to get a clear confirmation from CCP. ...

I agree that it would be nice to see the small portrait shown in the chat window. Although my character looks good in the larger images, his expression looks quite different at the small scale due to the shadows.

Is it possible to have portraits with different clothes and not just poses? I would like to compare one portrait with sunglasses and one without, one with a jacket and one without. Currently, when I change clothes, all my portraits go away.

Thanks for the feedback.
I can confirm that Akaylah and Razin are right. The starting point for recustomization will be your character as you left him or her.
As for the undo bar, AKA the history slider, it wasn¦t quite ready to be released. We plan to get it back into the character creator soon.

How about adding an option to change the used snapshot as and whenever one sees fit? After all, the toon is there, rendered and all. Just needs new snapshots.

No. At the point when we implement the UI changes all characters who have already completed the character customization process will automatically receive another chance to recustomize.
There is no need to raise a petition.

Perhaps before you do this, you should make sure everyone can get into the creator? I still get stuck at 'entering character creator'...
