Not necessarrily patch related. But one possible thing I would suggest. Add some mirrors for the patch downloads. I am sure waiting 22hr 48mins for a small patch of the range of 6-8mb isnt what you had intended. Or maybe release the patch for download say 1-2 weeks in advance.
Its only common sense

Bad on me for waiting until now to download the patch, but I can't believe that a 6.6MB patch is causing enough stress to slow my download to a horrendously low 2.4KB/sec...
Any chance on getting a torrent up so I can get this thing before the next patch comes out? _____________________________________ Your Focused Modulated Pulse Energy Beam I perfectly strikes Blood Arch Sage, wrecking for 216.8 damage. |

the laggy servers are caused by everyone trying to download the patch. and the slow DL speed's are for the same reason. Don't worry, both will speed up. ----------------------------------------------- "I am watching you through a camera" - Artie Ziff

Was hoping to test out my new big monitor but it seems that the eve servers are lagged out ive got broadband and im downloading the patch at 0.90 kb/sec. I checked to see if it was me by downloading a big patch for another game ive got 12 megs in 3 mins no problem, so its definatly the new patch and all the 12k people who are downloading it it also seems the eve website is having issues too.
Patch days can be so annoying .

I agree on the mirrors, but dont you think that if the new patch was ready for release 1-2 weeks ago they would have released it 1-2 weeks ago? CCP will have been working on/debugging the patch until very close to release I would have thought.

To the guy questioning releasing patch download early.
Heard of STEAM? Counterstrike/Half Life 2?
They realised that the demand for the game was enormous. So they released the game content via Steam well over 2 weeks before final release of activation code/material.
You test and you test well. When you are satisfied, you then prepare for release. This patch seems like it was tested till 1 hr before Downtime. Then released. Thats just not doing it smart. Sure whiners will exist about late patching. But its how things work better.

Bittorrents are excellent for spreading the patch file. The worldwide distribution of the file increases exponentially in a short time. Please consider using BT for any and all future releases.
Much better than releasing a patch that only a handful of people can get in a reasonable timeframe. Afterall you have the server logs, you should know what the demand is going to be like. Sheesh...

Depends I don't like BT basically because no one shares, they are happy to max downloads but uploading they block.
In princible BT is a good idea, but its flawed.

It's people that are flawed because they are selfish, backstabbing little creatures. In a community like this though people would share to help others download the patch. I've already downloaded it but I'd download it again on BT just help seed it and I now a lot of others would. __________ Capacitor research |

When you download a torrent file you are sharing the data you have downloaded BEFORE the entire file is finished.
Although the "default" BitTorrent downloader is messed up sometimes becuase it starts sharing after file is complete & thats when people close it.
I have to say that torrent files on patch day would lower the stress & bandwith from ccp servers & also possible increase download speeds for users.

CCP How many patch days do you have to endure massive lag problems before you guys learn that hosting the patch at the main site causes massive lag. Over the last 9 or 10 months its gotten worse with more and more players joining. Isnt it time to learn from past experiance and host the patch somewhere well away from the main server. Please do this next time and dont rely on the generous community to set up mirrors. CCP you earn enough to do this yourselves. Game is totally unplayable at the mo with the lag being so bad.

Agreed with whoever asked for a BitTorrent download of this patch (and patches in general). Would help a *lot* in both speeding things up and reducing server load. Please look into it. Not all p2p is warez and piracy, BT works wonderfully for transferring large files in general when there are lots of people requesting the file... and guess what, on patch day there are always lots of downloaders.

He readth my thoughts ....but let me add that respect is earned. I respect CCP's game development but it seems to lack in its understanding that patch delivery affects our perception of how well the company is run, their honest interest in customer service, and the expectations of a paying client are higher then their culture seems accustomed to. Thats what sums this up, these kinda of things are what make me want to quit playing eve.
For a start, why host the patch on the game server WHY ?
The ones lucky enough to download it earlier cant even play on the server because everyone else is trying to download the patch and is causing massive lag. Can you say DUR CCP ?
Secondly - The camera is SCREWED, you log in sometimes you cant move and have to relog or use auto pilot to move to the next system, what will we have to wait one , two , six months before that is fixed?
Get your stuff together ccp your patch deployments are a JOKE.
thx.

Typical patch day. CHAOS.
Log-in Lag, Game Lag, Market Lag, Flight Lag.
But we need days like this to wash the dishes, catch-up on TV and feed the cat.
A days pain will be worth it, game will better when the usual emergancy patch is deployed. If it wasn't for patch days, what else would we moan about (apart from the usual nerfs, lag, war, ore thieves, alliances, scamming etc).
Give it a day or to and then we will start looking forward to the next patch, and moaning when its not released on time.
And so the cycle begins.

You wouldn't want to screw up peoples current setups when they are a hellova long way from a station they can refit in.

For those that may not have done so before but if you run two copies of the eve client from different folders one will patch by just running the exe file the other won't.
Easiest way to patch the second copy.....
Start, run, browse to the downloaded patch and select it. The at the end of the run line put /path when you run that it will ask you to browse to the directory of eve. Point it at copy number 2 eve folder and voila patched.

Upon jumping in to Istodard, I could only get a side view of my ship. I could not rotate the camera drone at all and I was stuck in a warp tunnel. My speed showed 100.
I was able to stop the warp and warp to a station, all the time I still had only the side view. Once I docked, that seemed to clear the issue up.

Ususal patch day incompetence - market and escrow buggered in Everyshore, camera view stuffed and probably a few more other "gotchas" waiting to bite you on the arse. We won't even talk about how ludicrous it is that they don't even have enough bandwidth to deliver the patch
More than enough for me - I'm taking an extended break from this nonsense. If CCP ever realise what the two letters Q and A mean when put next to each other then I might return. For those of you carrying on - have fun, no you can't have my stuff and don't let the b**tards grind you down

IIRC, "Artillery" (i.e. 1400mm, 720mm, 280mm) were supposed to get range and damage increases. "Howitzers" (1200mm, 650mm, 250mm) were only going to get damage bonuses.
But if your 1400/720/280 dont get a range increase I'll be annoyed. +++

I cant play at all, when i start eve up, i read the uela and there is no accept, but by highlighting some of the text i can then see the accept button.
So i accept that and im through to user and pw, i cant see pw box though, but if i move the mouse about an do some ckicking i can get a cursor there
So i manage to log in after a quick 10mins (usually takes 15, so not so bad there) then some of my chars are not visible, but i manage to scroll over and find my own
So i enter the game and im docked, ship, station environemt, chats and other windows diapear, then reapear or just flicker like ****.
So does any1 know anything that could help with this graphix problem, i have not changed any driver settings, and i have cleared out cache...but the problem is still there. Tenacha Khan

Edited by: Emily Spankratchet on 01/02/2005 18:43:09 The patch notes say "Agent bookmarks to encounters and stations should work properly. There were issues when used from the Journal, People & Places or In Space menu."
I assumed that this meant I wouldn't get multiple copies of mission bookmarks in People & Places. I still have them (even for new missions).

Didn't see it in the patchnotes, but it seems you have changed it so that you can no longer place cans inside of station containers. I'd just like to say that that is a silly change to make. First, no one will be transporting station containers so that which you fear with normal containers (putting lots of small secure containers into a large secure container to increase cargo capacity very unfairly) isn't an issue. Secondly, even if it were, who would need extra space inside a station container when it's near impossible to fill them up as it is. The reason to use cans inside a station container was, same as a hangar, to organize items.
Saying all that, if you decide not to fix this, at least allow the placing of bubble-wraps (box off of escrows) into station container. They aren't "PLANK" containers since they don't hold more than they take, I personally stored items in such a way inside my station container. (Ex: box containing mining setup for apoc or collection of minmatar frigates or 100 corpses.)

The issues with the market are being looked at, a hotfix is in the works and it will be deployed as soon as it is complete.
The problems with patch download speed have been identified and are being resolved.

now something productive: maybe this is caused by a forgotten debug routine...

Not a problem just an interesting new quirk - agent mission reward details:
Pirate Slaughter
Rewards The following rewards and bonuses will be yours if you complete this mission: thirteen hundred thousand credits. 4626 Loyalty Points.
thirteen hundred thousand? i.e 1 million 300 thousand, i.e. 1,300,000? Why the change to convoluted text formatting from figures? As i say not a problem just interested.

Well it seems you guys have fubared the game engine so it now no longer works with the optimal performance settings on Nvidia 256MB graphic cards.
I suspect thats what Tenacha is running, the work around at present m8 is to reset the nvidia settings to factory defaults.
Performance sucks, but at least you can see all the screens again

Possible bug.
Managed to buy all the T1 mining crystal BPO's before the market went down. Built a set and mounted in my Modulated stripminer 2's. Seems to me that I only get 62% bonus to mining yield not the full 162% also see no indication of wear on the crystals.

thats as wise as saying "there wont be any traffic jams if everyone drives 5 minutes earlier".
If everyone followed your advice, the server would be overwhelmed aswell just a few minutes earlier. PPL who login have the patch and ppl who download the patch will lag the other downloads and the ppl who log in..... (in ccps version of patching atleast)

Not really - we had hours today to get the patch downloaded, so if only half of the people complaining (and able) had done so, we'd have less lag now.
Don't forget that, while they're patching the servers, the bandwidth useage is pretty light, so the patches would have a lot more bandwidth to get the files out.

they were never due to change in this patch. profitability has changed, ie what you make is more profitable afaik.

use t1 mwd or lower one of your turrets to a closer range gun or equip extra grid modules. I suspect its a deliberate attempt given the ceptor boosts to limit their uberness as the 'i win' ship at close encounters.

Containers Issue ....
Why dont Warehouse allow cans inside ...might not have been patch. I understand cans in cans in ships. But in dock ....er warehouses are where people put stock...er often in cans ? Please fix for warehouse cans as a minimum.
Why after patch do I have to resort the hangers or cans I have sorted and then closed ?
I want to sort , close and open them to find them sorted as when I closed them ...not reset.
Can issues are mundane and boring I know but they affect alot of people.
Thats my bit so far :)

My guess is, that that's no bug. Looks like the 162% is a multiplyer, no added bonus. But be honest, a 162% bonus on those modulated stripminers would be pretty insane wouldn't it?

T2 modulated Stripminers gives 646.x mining yield base with my skills mining 5 astrogeology 5 and mining barge 5, put in the mining crystal and u get 1051.x basic stripminer does 970.x with those same skills. Frankly 81m3 advantage over standard stripminers is hardly worth it for these ships that are supposed to be uber miners. That is my oppinion atleast. ----------------------------- |

Well, apart from the download time (thank goodness for player hosts!), the crashed markets and the reboots, not too bad so far. Already appreciating the fix to right click. Glad to see maintenance array offlining has crept into the list of fixes - thanks for that!
But why oh why oh why did you have to screw around with hangar displays? That menu was just fine as it was - I don't want to pick between six sort options and I especially don't want it to reset itself every time I close the fragging hangar! Grrrrr - UNDO THAT PLEASE!!

New highlights behind modules fitted on your ship makes this patch a winner.
Also, the new little GUI tweaks are nice in the journal.
Seems like some small bugs in gneral for the GUI have been tweaked (no lag when the overview highlights something you've clicked for ex.)

For those of you having the flashing gfx problem it sounds like vsync needs to get enabled, i know if i play games that i get really high FPS in at certain spots (above 85fps, as my refresh is 85hz) it will flash like crazy and stuff disappears, so you can prolly keep ur preformance settings just enable the vsync, that should cure the problem
and the reason i think this is happening now is maybe they optimized the engine, so you are now hitting much higher FPS...of course this is all just speculation and experiences ive dealt with in other things...so if it doesnt work dont hate me lol

Automatic patching gives me a downloading patch status bar but refuses to download regardless of server and I'm assuming it won't be verified anyway (call it a hunch).

Just out of interest, where did you download your patch from?
/me downloaded patch after some difficulty, no problems installing, running seemingly ok now

I'll refrain from going on about the download issues and market screw-up - it's been done to death, and hopefully CCP have learnt a lesson.
Anyway, here's the problems I've noticed so far, some cosmetic, some not so:
1) Drones don't seem to be fixed. Fly to an NPC, wait for them to lock you, launch drones and they don't search for a target at all. You still have to target and issue the attack command manually.
2) The sorting defaulting to By Name in every container every time.
3) The cursor on the chat window doesn't reset to the start of the line when you hit Return. You've done your Line Feed, but no Carriage Return
4) Basic skills like Diplomacy and Trade are STILL not seeded in the database. The latter one of these must be SERIOUSLY hampering new players.
5) Some kind of new graphic glitch has turned up - my ship when docked vanishes for about half a second every now and then.
6) Overview presets have all been wiped. Again.
7) The right click menu appears quickly in space, but this fix has not trickled down to in the mission details - if you right click on an objective's location, you sometimes have to wait a few seconds until the menu pops up for you to, for example, set destination.
8) The merging of items when the fulfill orders has not been fixed. When your order is filled, it still makes a new stack in the hangar.
9) The divider between Buy and Sell on the orders page has vanished - this makes it much harsher on the eye.
10) Cargo bug has if anything, got worse. I used to just have to leave just over 20% of my Mammoth empty and the remaining Giant Secures would stay in it when I switched ships (it seemed to remember about the expanders fitted, but not the skill bonus). Now only one GSC stays in. This is a PITA.
I'm sure I'll find more, but this is in just 2 hours of play. I work in games, and if I had a test department like yours, I'd give them a serious kicking. Stuff like the download problem and a market shutdown is fair enough - you don't really know what will happen to the game under severe load until you deploy, but basic problems like the above should have been picked up easily.
On the plus side, I like the new coloured Accepted / Not Accepted tags in the Journal - that works sweet now. Expired offers seem to have dropped out of the journal too, plus when you finish a mission / decline an offer, they drop off immediately now.
Graphics seem to be smoother now - I noticed this when approaching a station at warp - the transition is smoother.
And finally, the new font for numbers worked.

11) When you buy anything from an NPC (Tested it with a BPO, a trade item and a module - all did the same), the price at that station DROPS slightly. I would expect it is meant to rise as part of the new dynamic market.
Luckily, it only seems to drop once. Whether this is per day / per hour / whatever, I don't know. But a good thing, else you could just keep buying until it reached a really low level, then exploit by buying and refining like crazy.

1: Items, Ships etc not stored in "Sort By Type".. Everytime i close my items, ships, secure cans, yes, even my cargohold and open them again all my stuff are sorted by name.. Before the patch my stuff was always in "Sort by type".. Very annoying bug..
2: When i undock my screen are zoomed in so i cant see anything else then my ship.. Not so annoying, I can just zoom out..
3: Seems to be something wrong with the "Signal Amplifire 2".. It suddenly requires "Electronic Upgrades lvl5" for some reason.. Really annoying..
4: A little note about the Overview reset would have been nice.. I my settings the "Pilot is at war with you" blink's red but in the standard settings the "below -5 security standing" are flashing.. Not a very smart move.. When you are at war with somebody and you meet one blinking red you automatic shoot at the pilot and what is happening if you shoot at one you are not in war with ?.. Correct answer.. You got ganked by sentry's and concord.. I did manage to figure that out before something bad happend..

Filled orders still do not merge into one stack. It would be very useful to Traders if this could be fixed.
The camera default has swung from giving me a tiny Iteron V every time I undock to a huge Iteron V every time I undock. Size is good, but staying power counts for a lot as well :)

Frigs have been nerfed all to hell with the (undocumented) AB changes. Thanks a lot, I could have spent that time training to fly an Apoc.
FPS in space has gotten worse, and now there are wonderful little graphical glitches that pop up at random times. Also, (again, random) freezes during combat. Once the screen moves again, I'm dead, because mission rats are now freaking uber killing machines, and my rifter with it's utter lack of powergrid can no longer speed, run or tank - only die.
I'm sure all of the alliance goons who won all the T2 BPOs are rubbing their hands together due to the fact that anyone flying less than T2 might as well stick with their Ibis.
And the Everquestization of EVE continues.. See you on Ebay!

2.Overview settings lost. Again. Please stop doing this. It was irritating the first time and *censored* annoying last night. Some of us /use/ this feature. I had four different settings and now I have to create them all again.
3.When using multiple mining lasers and the roid pops if you manually switch off those lasers still running you still get the repetition of "the asteroid is depleted".
4.Drones still often don't autotarget. Basically no change here. Sometimes they will eventually wake up and fight back but most of the time you have to use the 'attack' command to get them going.
5.Evemail icon still doesn't flash on new mail. Also seemed to be some horrible lag with it last night. I didn't realise I'd had email for over an hour because everytime I looked it was empty.
6.Evemail defaults to corp mail view. Not very helpful for most people I think.
7.My Bestower seems to accelerate faster than normal. That's fine by me but was it intentional? Other reports say frigs have been nerfed which is less good - perhaps someone got the ship size/effect the wrong way round?

It was only to specific artilleries - Note that names can be confusing - for example the 800mm repeating artillery is actually an autocannon. Also, howitzers aren't artillery. So actually, the only guns that should have seen the bonus are the 250mm, 650mm and 1200mm.
Originally by: Kashre IIRC, "Artillery" (i.e. 1400mm, 720mm, 280mm) were supposed to get range and damage increases. "Howitzers" (1200mm, 650mm, 250mm) were only going to get damage bonuses.
You've got them the wrong way round - 1400mm etc are "Howitzers, 1200mm etc are "Artillery.
Originally by: Samara Smeagol For those that may not have done so before but if you run two copies of the eve client from different folders one will patch by just running the exe file the other won't.
Easiest way round this is run the .exe the second time - the first time it'll patch the first eve folder it finds. The second time it'll give you a pop-up that lets you put in (or browse to) the path of the directory you want to patch.
Originally by: Pentara Didn't see it in the patchnotes, but it seems you have changed it so that you can no longer place cans inside of station containers.
Actually, it started doing this before the current patch. Yes it sucks, but no, it's not the fault of this patch.

I am missing the following 1 Mining Dominix 2 Kessies for loot grabbing 1 Catalyst with all tech 2 125mm guns on it all of my items and modules that were in my items hanger that also includes over 3k crokite, 5k gniess, 3k Bistot, 2k Spodumain
I would like to know if anyone else is missing stuff.. but its hard to tell as it is only at this particular station that stuff is missing as far as I can tell.
Could be more because I have stuff all over the galaxy but those things are things that I use and knew what was there.

here is a list of bugs additionally to all the ones named above:
1) "no ammo found" if multiple guns reload at the same time only the first will take from the first stash in your hold, unless there are more stashes the other guns wont reload regardless of how many 1000 shots ammo you have.
2) if you stack your ammo and try to switch it by clicking on the gun the ammo will not be named/displayed in the popup menue anymore, you have to manually open cargohold and drag it from there "on" the gun. Nice in large battles, welcome to 1500 where i load my guns from the front.
3) if you are zoomed in an torp explosions go either on or next to you (on a very close thing, below 10km) the lagspike is insane. We shot a pos and one of our ravens started to fire, ended up everyone totally freezing up. After a few tries gangleader gangwarped us out to escape the lag.
4) Not sorting by type. DUDES my hangar is soo messed up it starts to annoy to resort it every single time when opening, bring back the old sorting method as default.
5) Lag / waiting time on logging in. I spend now a solid 1-2 minutes on logging in. Pre patch it took me like 20 secs.
6) Drones still do insane lag.
7) where are the fast "indies" i could only find the amaar one on the market (bpo and the description/item). Thats with "show only available items" turned off. As a conclusion i would say the others arent implemented yet.

This one is old, and is lag-related - hence why you're seeing it a lot right now. It's simply that the lag means it takes ages to split out the load for the first gun from the main stack, so when the second gun comes to try and load, it can't as the stack is still "locked" for splitting.

If you're talking about the elite industrials, they've got their own category in the market (just like all the other T2 ship types). It's called "Transport ships" IIRC.

Not just which but can we *please* have a 'save' command as well as a 'save as' command for overview settings. So we can make changes to the current config without having to retype the name every time.
Plus, for crying out loud, if you're going to flush the overview presets PUT IT IN THE FRAGGING PATCH NOTES. I undocked from station and nearly had a heart attack seeing a player with red background (which I use only for war enemies) right next to me in space! Fortunately he warped out before I had a chance to do anything silly!

Ok, I am going to try to understand this problem in real life terms.
If you have a box. A box, it's just that, a box. If you put another box in it, it has to physically be a smaller box.... right?
So... I guess once upon a time, in Eve, there were containers that could hold more volume than they themeselves occupied. I could put 10m3 in a box that was only 8m3 in size, for example.
Rightfully so, CCP decide to fix this... I agree with that in concept, but having read some of these posts, it looks like they have fixed it by preventing you from being able to put boxes inside boxes. That, to me, is one step from taking away cargo holds altogether! Why don't you just change the values of their capacity and size so that you can only put a smaller box inside a larger box. There should be nothing wrong with the concept of putting a 400m3 box into a 500m3 cargo hold.
Having said all that... if I got the wrong end of the stick here, then I apologise, but it sure as heck sounds like I am on the button based on the complaints I am reading.

You did, apparently. Did you report it?
No.... I don't report the blatantly obvious stuff....
Even then it's not my job... so spare me the innuendos
Then you have no right to be on Sisi, it bloody obvious that every other bugger on there thought the same, so didn't bother to report it.
This is one of the problems with having a 'test' server, my guess is that 90% of the players on there are simply testing ship set ups for PvP, whilst not bothering to report bugs etc, total waste of time....
Now onto the things I spotted last night:
1. Intensive cap use after undocking. (this was there before the patch and is still there)
2. When using multiple mining lasers and the roid pops if you manually switch off those lasers still running you still get the repetition of "the asteroid is depleted".
(great if you play wearing headphones...)
3. I seem to be warping into gates at random ranges, anywhere from 17 to 13kms and the ship isn't allinged to the middle of the gate either.
4. Opening assets list in space caused juddering lag
All in all not a good deployment.... again

Originally by: Mattduk So... I guess once upon a time, in Eve, there were containers that could hold more volume than they themeselves occupied. I could put 10m3 in a box that was only 8m3 in size, for example.
There were, and still are - they're called secure containers. They all have more capacity (amount of stuff that fits in them) than they have volume (amount of space they take up). That's why savvy ore haulers have ships stuffed full of giant secure cans, cause they let you hold more. Of course, the downside of doing that is that you hit problems when trying to haul items that are individually big. Instead of one large hold, you now effectively have a lot of small holds, so you can end up with wasted space. But with ore it generally works well
But obviously, if infinite stacking of containers was allowed, you could get as much cargo space as you wanted by just stacking enough containers. Which would be bad. Which is why they nerfed container-in-container.
The problem comes when you throw in station containers. These, unlike secure containers, have the same capacity as they have volume. Not that it really matters that much as you can't pack one into any ship hold anyway, and they are all so huge that capacity really isn't a big issue in them anyway! Now, when they first came out, you could put secure containers inside station containers. But somewhere between then and now (well before the last patch), the station containers started behaving like secure containers, and not allowing other containers inside them.
Station containers were implemented to help organise and secure hangars (esp corp hangars). They do this quite well as a 1-level solution. The problem is that one level isn't really enough. Putting secure cans inside station containers helped a lot, as you could now have 2-level "folder" systems - I used this to have a station container called "blueprints", that contained a number of secure cans, with names like "Hybrid S", "small projectile guns" etc, each containing appropriate BP's. That way everything was nicely organised. Now I can't do that anymore
Personally, I can't see a reason to limit what you can put in the station containers, I would be in favour of even letting you put the smaller station containers inside the larger ones. After all, as they're as big on the outside as they are on the inside, there's no capacity-expansion exploit there. Sure, putting secure containers in a station container technically expands how much the station container can hold, but the effect isn't really exploitable - as there is no volume limit on your hangar overall, it's far cheaper and easier to buy another station container than try and expand an existing one by packing it full of secure containers.
So, whatever got changed, would be nice if it could get changed back!

Originally by: Pentara Didn't see it in the patchnotes, but it seems you have changed it so that you can no longer place cans inside of station containers.
Pentara
Were there a search function, I would find you the Dev post where they said that they made this change because certain unnamed people were intentionally using this feature to cause systems to become stuck.
Something about the placing of a container in a container causes the database to breakdown, the world to end, and cats to meow frantically in fear.

Edited by: StarLite on 03/02/2005 01:22:42 Just found a little bug today by accident :) If you jettison biomass in space from your cargohold, in this case someone's corpse I found in space, the thing will disappear from your cargo, but there WON'T be a jettisoned can. After I jettisoned a light missile in space [within the 3 minute timer] it did work well, and it did jettison the can with the light missile. Not a biggy, but it's a bug afterall :)
And then a big one: lag. It might have been a bad servernode, but the fleetbattle we tried to have today got totally ruined by jump-in lag: Ill quote myself from [url=http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=148251]another thread[/url]
Quote:
It's definately a server thing. We had the same fight [same gate, same numbers, same situation] a couple of days ago, and the server handled it a LOT better. It was laggy like hell yes, but at least it was somewhat playable [activating a module/gun took 2 miunutes, so did warping]. It seems to me like CCP changed something in the jump-in code that made mass jump-in impossible [loading 1 pilot at a time instead of all at the same time?].
Also, as noticed over and over again fights at stations are a LOT smoother and a LOT less laggy then fights at gates. The 80v80 fight at the 9CG station was pretty lagfree [at least for me], FPS was pretty bad [as expected with so many ships], but if I actuvated my guns, they reacted within a few seconds.
I noticed [and with me some other pilots] that fights at stations are almost always less laggy then fights at gates, even after the fleets jumped into eachother and the actual fighting begun. I don;t know WHY this is happening and if this is always the case, but it might be worth looking into it.
Would it be helpfull if I [and maybe some other pilots] run the logserver during a big battle and send the logs to CCP, or would the logserver info be useless to the devs? ___________________________________________________

Originally by: SkyLander Getting a weird bug in station where I can't click on any of the buttons below the corp button. Expanding the side bar fixed it but I'm not used to it and it takes about a lot of teh screen. Also bring down refit/escrow re minimizes the sidebar.
Also when I log in, dock, undock my chat windows are resized really small, I have to continuously reresize them to how i like and move them to where they are supposed to be.
Not game killers well the sidebar thing could be, BUT REALLY ANNOYING.
I get those too. Minimizing the chat window and then restoring it seems to let me use the neocom again though. At least untill I undock or jump, then it's either working or not.

So after not being able to undock for 2 days, and my second stuck petion after I reinstalled the game (which didnt fix the sidebar problem) Ive been told that, no I will not be conpensated for lost play time and that instead I just need to file a stuck petition everytime i need to undock. Smooth move on this one CCP, I will be spamming your GM's with stuck petions tonight.

Please make the game engine work in the next patch instead of monkeying around with module stats. Pretty please?
The clientside lag (low FPS) *is* a major, major, major problem with Eve, and there needs to be a "stupid, pointless feature freeze" until it is worked out.
Basically, you can't do anything except light rat spawn and gate ganks without getting lagged all to hell.
It's not our computers. It is a bloated, buggy client, and insufficent server resources. Fix it, plz. Then we can talk about making everything on the market "contraband".

Alright I think I really figured out the sidebar issue now. If you are getting it so that the buttons on the sidebar aren't working check to see if you have the chat windows docked to it. If so Undock them and the buttons that were around the chat windows should start working again. __________________________________________________

Does CCP intend to make the issues with armor hardners public?
Had a friend lose his Mega to the insane lag 1-4 fps while trying to avoid getting ganked by 3 guys at a station.
Or is everyone supposed to find out the hard way?

As far as I can tell from looking at the new patch last night:
1) Sometimes the buttons on the sidebar (most notably UnDock) fail to work when in a station. Switching to Map View seems to fix.
2) All windows seem to detach themselves from the sidebar and move 50-100 pixels to the right. This happens whenever you map/market/insurance (basically a full-screen action). I've bugreported this.
3) I had a chat window open above a cargo window, when i minimised the chat, the cargo window got 'sliced' in half. Leaving the top and bottom 20 pixels of the cargo window, but no middle. Nothing I could do would allow me to close/reopen the cargo window; had to relog.
Saying that, my client seems to fun a little faster now.

Valentine Keen makes a good point - I think a roundup Dev Blog post of known issues a few days after each patch would be quite handy (even if it would be a bit depressing to write and read ). As the Devs would likely be quite busy dealing with these problems, perhaps get one of the BH people to knock up the contents (assuming they're any less busy...). A suggestion, anyways.

first, what is that supposed to mean? If you mean "Pirate Factions have now demand for Empire Insiginas", then your patch notes are incorrect, as that demand still doesn't exist.

Cargo bug is back and it's brought a friend with it.
I left the scene of a mining op with a full cargo hold of nothing apparently. I sorted by name and 6.5k of Kernite appeared (guess I was mistaken about picking up the loot, huh?). I docked but couldn't drag the kernite. I changed ships and whoah - the loot appears but the kernite gets squeezed out into my hangar.
Still, nothing was missing so it all worked out in the end, eh, devs? QA#1234567 passes muster?

I haven't read the 9 pages of msgs, so this might already have been mentioned.
Still takes ages to undock sometimes, hence i've time to write this.
More importantly my capacitor display still doesn't update sometimes.
And worst of all my shields don't seem to be displaying correctly either, i took 500-1000 dmg in 5-6 seconds and the shield display said i had only lost 50points or so, i should have regenerated 10-20 points at most so it must be wrong.
Missions can be a little worring when you can't trust you cap or shield readouts

I have gotten a rather troublesome bug since patch, and yes its related to the overview. At first the overview worked as normal, after of course I redid my settings. Then late in the night on patch day I was resizing my overview window when it decided to do its own thing and became unreadable. Whenever my overview got weird before I would just hit TAB twice to normalize it. This time it seems the main part of the Overview has moved somewhere above my viewable screen. I can still manage to view the other sections of the overview though : Selected Item, Drones, Gang, but only after I hit TAB once to make it all smaller then click on the individual bars for each of those sections. If I hit the Overview bar within that then it gets messed up again. I submitted a petition right after it happened, waitin to see if there is a fix. Only thing I think I did not try is to reinstall, that will come soon if I have to.

As someone already said. Not everyone uses forums.
Next time you might have a bug that deletes all characters. Wouldn't it be the smart thing to do to inform/find means to inform all members of the Eve community of this particularly dangerous bug?
You would think this was simple/common sense.

Chat channels message text display is bugged.
When you switch it to "line mode" (w/o char portraits) and than back to the small portrait mode, the spacing between the lines increases significantly (to about 4 sizes of a small char portrait).
Fixes up after reopening the chat window.

When I get a mission from an agent it adds a folder under agents in my "People & Places". However if I open that folder it also appears in half a dozen other folders that all open at the same time. None of the BM's in there are right clickable, so are unuseable. The only way I can do missions is to get more info on them and use the BM's in the writeup.

Originally by: MindLife 1: Items, Ships etc not stored in "Sort By Type"..
Well, seems that none of this have been fixed yet so why not add some more..
5: I have my cargobay attached on top of my chatwindows and if i dock with my cargobay open my chatwindows are going small. If i dock with my cargobay closed nothing happens.
6: Cargo still wierd. If i have 5 giants in my Mammoth and jumps over in another ship then 4 of the giants are thrown over in my items. If i take an info on the Mammoth while sitting in another ship it says that my cargospace is 5625 m3. It dosent count my lvl4 indy skill either my 3*27,44% + 1*25,08% expanders mounted on the ship.

It Maybe confined to the impass cluster I can't say.
Client doesn't keep sysnc and reports/displays incorrect distance to targets affecting combat especially where missiles will hit for 0 dmg etc against 'ghosts'
Npc's loose track of players actual position and torp flight is affected severely, as well as being unable to target ships even though they are in range etc.
Overall the Sync code in this build is very poor indeed.
Also the Stuck to ship issue has returned in some degree where a player can actually warp off with a station if he initiates warp close to it.
Also overall the slowdown in grp activety has drifted away from you alot in exodus.
Part of the Prob I think is now that torp use has become so widespread and them having such big effects, but overall any grp activety is alot worse in Exodus from my observations, while solo the clients performance has goten better in many regards, grp it stinketh.
Hangers no longer keep their sort order requiring players to constantly do it everytime it's opened.
Personal configurable hanger divisions are long overdue! Pleeeease Trav can we hmm can we??
Overall alot more could be done to speed the client up by storing more graphical content such as BPO icons etc locally rather than draggin them off the server, where security issues aren't of a concern.

Regarding the sync issues... Happened to me a few times, when I couldn't lock a target which was clearly within my targeting range, according to scanner. Also, couldnt pick up loot from cans hanging just next to my ship. - out of confusion comes chaos. - out of chaos comes confusion and fear. - ... then comes lunch.

I've noticed the snc issue when I'm ratting. I was killing stuff the cans they dropped would be behind me or 20k in some random direction. Really annoying having a can appear right next to you 500m away but it won't go saying that it is over 1500m away. __________________________________________________

The cap bug on undocking is a major pain in the ass. I thought I read that it had been fixed a while back..
I undock from station.. warp to gate. In a Malediction, it says not enough cap. I am 49AU from gate.. and land at 9AU away.
However.. the same Malediction does 160+ AU warps without any issue at other times.
I can duplicate this situation if need be.

I've found that it doesn't matter about whether it's a newly-assembled ship or not. Basically, you know sometimes you undock and if you double-click to start moving, you get hurled out of the station (i'm talking like 800m/s in a BS etc)? Well, if you're in a situation where you undocked and moving would hurl you with the speedboost... warping immediately without clicking and moving a little bit will get you hit by the damn cap bug.
Once I connected the dots, anytime I undock now, I manually click to move FIRST, then warp. Doing this has NEVER let that undock cap bug hit me. NOT doing this has screwed every ship I have flown at least a dozen times. When your Crow can't fly 25au to a gate immediately after undock... there's an obvious problem. And it's not just after it's been assembled.

Getting back smooth fleet combat and grp activety, hammer down on big effects like torps.
Get some nitrus oxide in that server code. :)
But by far most of all sort the fitting system out once and for all, and get the game balanced.
No gimp this ungimp that, do the work, do it right and more importantly do it once.
Also the skill times and dependancies are excessive, the games turning into a skill training sim, it's actually starting to get more fun playing on the test server. heh

Edited by: Razin on 12/02/2005 20:14:44 Here is a description of a problem I posted in the Bug Reporting section. Is anyone else having the same problem and has anyone found a solution?? -- This has never happened until this Friday, 11 Feb. '05 (I have not logged in on Thursday, so I don't know if the situation started then, but everything was alright on Wednesday).
I get this screen http://myeve.eve-online.com/screenshots/default.asp?screenID=7515 with an error dialog titled "CONNECTION LOST" with the following text "The transport has not yet been connected, or authentication was not successful." (after which I get dropped to the log in screen) when I do the following: jump, dock, activate ship module, train a skill, put up a market order, use any in-station service, etc. Some of these actions cause a server disconnect every time, some less often, but more then 50% of the time.
This, off course, makes the game completely unplayable.
In every other respect my computer and all software on it behave as before.
Please advise.
Dell Dim8250, 2.4 P4, 1GIG RAM, ATI Rad9800 Pro, Cat 4.12, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soun card (never had any problem with this). --

problems with windows auto resizing for no reason and when you stack windows up the left hand side against menu bar it also stops the menu from working. Very annoying ( have to pull window away from the menu to get it to work).
Also the hangers now auto sort by name and that messes everything up. Is it possible to set a default to either name or type????
Also when is the auto reload gonna be sorted???
