I think CCP have more important things to worry about that answering every stupid question being asked on these forums. It's almost 3 a.m. in Iceland right now, I'm sure the night shift and the ones still working from yesterday are doing the best they can until the next shift arrives in a few hours to sort this mess out.
So get the f**k to bed and stop complaining.
all im asking for is a little communication, its called customer service, and that is almost as important as fixing the problem, people are all asking the asme 2 question, why is it ****ed up, and how are you fixing it, we want someone to spend 30seconds saying the damn hamsters have been set loose"
Well they cant post **** until they get some ****... in other words... unless you want some polite phrases about nothing.. just wait.

That IP [107.14.16.14) is registered Canada. It appears everyone on the East coast is trying to use Canada's across the pond link. So that means nobody is getting across right now, @ least not without heavy packet loss. So web pages work but as for the game, forget it. |

Actually, at the risk of overposting, this is a legitimate point. If you have a hotspot on your phone, try that, backup dial-up, try that...vpn through work, try it....a different netblock may let you in.

To repeat what I said earlier:
CCP will have no control of this situation, they can't give an ETA or any additional information. Even the chances of them being able to contact the ISP in question to get an answer is incredibly unlikely.
Considering the nature of the problem, the primary way it could be diagnosed would be through us, as we've managed to do.
This is not a reflection on CCP in any way, this should be easy to grasp, they don't control the backbones of the Internet =P

Well first of all CCP have never been very good at updating us during an unscheduled/extended downtime. To be fair, this doesn't even have anything to do with CCP, this is something much bigger. ISPs and server hosts are having their own problems, which is what we're seeing here. As far as CCP are concerned, TQ is online and people are playing. The ones having issues are the ones whose connections are routing through Eurorings. CCP can't comment because CCP have nothing to do with it.

Thats very true, BUT! eurorings will have strict SLA policies, and will be open 24 hours a day 365 days a year. If a fault has been detected or issued, belive you me ISP are the first to know and probably the first to complain.
If eurorings is down, all of our traffic should have been automaticaly re routed through a route that does work. So its not a fault on the network its clearly either being blocked by eurorings or CCP servers itself. Looking at the tracert from me, its being blocked at a network level so when the DDos started CCP probably called said provider and asked for all connections to be terminated. I have done this many times myself at data centres when my servers have been attacked. Problem is why are they still blocked? thats the interesting part.

yeah ccp is probably on the phone right now, on hold, with annoying music being played, trying to get through to someone in India, who wont know how to solve the problem, but has to work through a 50 page book of "have you tried plugging it in, first grade IT support advice" before he can escalate it to second line... who escalate to third line, who tell CCP that its standard policy in the event of a DDoS/botnet attack, and they have to talk to management... management are in bed, and will be in tomorrow at 10.
but right now they are still on hold, and are listening to Vivaldi's 4 seasons for the 20th time... __________________________________________________

Well, It's never connected that way before, What happened to the Eastern USA link? Has that just disappeared or has Atlanta suddenly fallen victim to a DDos attack of thier own? Makes no sense If we were able to get on after the servers were brought back online, then Eve dissapears from our screens to come back to Satus unknown. Considering what happened today I wouldn't be surprised if they're still having other issues not soely pertaining to a Canada link or an ISP issue. Mine or Die. |

To make another quote...
Its not problem of CCP .. as you can see from those traceroutes on this thread... So they cant fix it... its up to providers and their network engineers to fix it and they wont do so if they still see something fishy... aka eliminating source of the problem while keeping functionality...

Oh yeah, just had another thought. Who wants to take bets this will happen again in the near future, or maybe something worse, from some copycat or some other hacker group that wants to one up the ones responsible for today's attack? It wouldn't surprise me in the least if it happens, or is happening.
