Nearly everything has been said here. "My Eve" had 3 phases: Begin: Cold War / Red Moon Rising It was hard for me to get into the game, but it was rewarding
Golden Age: Revelation -> Apocrypha I liked the 0.0 stuff, the wormholes, the T3 cruisers, the new improved scanning.
The End: Incarna What i dont like, see the arguments in this thread. Pointless to repeat them again.

There are a lot of good things to say about Incarna, and as most of you know I have been a very staunch supporter of this initiative by CCP. It somewhat pains me to point out a couple of very negative points.
1: In CQ the code seriously needs to be optimized. I have decent equipment to play on but I am averaging 5 or 6 frames a second. That being said I am not experiencing the over heating issue many report, and I do realize that you needed to see how the code would perform under full stress.
2: Very minor issue. I put a salvager 2 on my Matari Blockade Runner, and in space it floats in space a fair distance ahead of the ship.
3: The Big Issue: I'm just going to come out and say this, as much as it pains me to do so. The prices in the Noble Store are a slap in the face to your player base, and need to be adjusted downward immediately to about 10% of their current prices.
Not only are they completely out of line with the rest of the MicroTransaction gaming community, they lend credence to the arguments of everyone I have ever butted heads with on the forum that accused you of using this new system as a money grab.
I don't know what the line of thinking was when deciding the pricing structure, and (uncharacteristically) this one time I really don't care.
This is completely out of line with the impression we were given of how MicroTransactions were going to work, and it needs to be addressed immediately. As it stands right now you will make little, if any, profit from the system because few can afford to use it. However if you drop the prices to 10% of their current levels, you would easily see a 1000% increase in total profit as the bulk of the player base would begin using it over time.
My main worry is why I'm even having to explain this to you, it should be easily self evident.
I've rarely had to cry foul on the decisions CCP has made in the past, even the most controversial ones. But this, well, this one is just stupid and borderline insulting.
Please, sort it out.

Originally by: Bethany Trader Hot WELL THANK YOU VERY MUCH CCP
Let me just run right out and spend money from my family's budget on a new laptop so I can play a game that I have spent many hours building a character on just because some little prick in the dev department has decided that I can afford that.
Everything else works fine on my laptop so I see no need in wasting money on a new just for the sake of some ******* run company like CCP.
Subscription canceled...
Ditto for me and my laptop. We're not all rich Amarr's with lots of cash to give to ccp. I thought Iceland had also been hit really hard by the credit crunch? Apparently not, if micro-transactions can cost a fortune and they expect everyone to have pixel shader 3 compatable laptops.
I feared the worst, i got the worst, and I can't even judge Incarna as I can't run Incarna. I found little to stay playing eve but had massive hopes for incarna bringing new variety, but instead of variety we got vanity. If it worked on the ps3 I'd be happy, if older-pc users could play it as it was "pre-incarna" that would be nice but not to have the choice leaves me... no choice but to quit playing a game I've played on and off for almost 8 years. Gutted but it's only a game.

Just my 5 cents in Incarna feedback.
I've been waiting for this feature for several years after I first heard about it. CQ is the first step into glorious Incarna future, I fully understand that.
But right now - it just made station gameplay worse.
Please, leave the old-style docking as default, and make leaving pod to CQ optional. It's both more comfortable AND more roleplaying.
I mean - I'm a capsuleer, damnit! I don't like to walk around in this vulnerable weak human body, that has no armor hardeners or MWD. :)
I can do that - if I want to meet someone in person. But since we can't meet other people in CQ yet - there's no reason for me to leave the pod yet.

Edited by: Sloan X on 22/06/2011 18:23:54 I see alot of the same faces in every whine thread, TBH if you hate this game soO much just quit.
if your looking for a instant success and patchs/updates with contstant hardware profiles then you need a console. Alot of the grief you see spilling out here is why so many stuidos have gone console port first.
gaming now has such a large cross section its not like the ole'days where computer hobbiest built thier PC's top run the latest and greatest games the best they could. computers is not a cheap hobby, nor does any PC studio design games on mid-life hardware.
Not everyone could afford the 486, or the k4, or the shinny new rage 128 gfx cards at the time. its the same here, only there is many more people with intrests in gaming. you cant not blame CCP for your hardware, its your hobby its your burden. if you cant afford to game then you have other life issues you should adress frist.
I guess one of the problems with supporting a game so long is the frustration we see here. CCP however is one if the few who are really vangaurd in that they are working out the problems rather then just quit supporting the game all together. why deal with all of this when they could just build another game from the ground up? loyal? insane? or many they just love what they are doing.
its always the few w/tears and anger that you see here. what you dont see is thousands of ppl neutral/stoic or happy w/the new content. in the end if you loved eve at any time your should respect that in your posts. maybe even thank them for thier hard work even thou you disagree.

I think with some minor adjustments we will feel much better, maybe not all, but at lease most of us.
For example, why not make it so when you decide not to load station environment, instead of that static screen make it so that it shows the ship you currently have active as a static screen even if you can't spin it.
Also allow dragging your ship to make it active.
Or maybe even add a small screen in the middle of the static window somewhere where it shows your active ship. ---

My load time for CQ is insane. I haven't had this long a load time since I was trying to play wolfenstein 3d. ;)
Incarna makes changing ships so annoying. Umm, sometimes it's life and death for us to reship to stop a bunch of reds, or to save a scrammed buddy. I need to jump out of my scanner/salvager into my dps/tackle/logi ship. You all are so clueless to the actual impact of CQ.

My play style in eve focus's on PvP in nullsec. I almost always dual box, and regularly triple box. Things I typically do in station: - Switch ships as quickly as possible for pewpew. - Fit out my ships during slow times. - Market activity with my alt. - Contract management with my alt.
I think the CQ looks awesome, and has some great potential for including lots of additional features. During slow times, its fun to explore. At the same time, it is graphics intensive and requires a significant amount of resources to load. The basic fact is, when I have a character in station, it is typically NOT my primary focus, and I thereby don't want a heavy graphics load. I like the option to turn off the station environment, and do not want it to go away.
As for turrets, I find the new item icons for turrets hard to distinguish. I found the old icons loaded much more smoothly, and were much easier to distinguish. This includes tractor beams, salvagers, code breakers, and analyzers.

Originally by: bluewolf297 dear ccp, there is one simple solution to this! everyone complains about cq being laggy and useless. i for one do like it as a way to kick back and manage my corp if i dont want to be in space while doing it! however i DO NOT want to enter cq EVERY time i dock! the simple solution is this.
-you dock and are greeted by the old "ship spinning" interface -you can (if you want to) click a "exit pod" button -exiting pod places you in cq, where you can either return to the pod, or hit undock directly from there...
this would fix SO MANY COMPLAINTS, yet it isnt being done? please ccp just fix this T-T

Let me tell you what I think about "Incrapna".
The GOOD: - Turrets. They looks great, can't wait for the new effects.
The BAD: - Pretty much everything else... - CQ. Laggy as hell, does not add any gameplay, controls are terrible, it's dark, I have to walk everywhere... even to sit down (*walk* in stations...ahhh...I get it). Why can't I tell the toon to sit from across the room and have him do the waking instead of having to click to get it there? Oh, wait this is from the same company that brought us PI clickfest!! - Maller. Poor ship, it looked great, now it seems a Caldari engineer used a bunch of Legos to put it together. It does not look Amarrian *at all*.
The UGLY: - The NEX shop is a joke. OMG! What were you thinking?!
After all the hype I am totally disappointed with Incrapna.

Remember all the complaints with the new graphics patch? This reminds me of that. They're not going to make CQ optional, at least I hope they don't. If you have to manually click on the CQ feature to enable it, it ruins the whole point of the update (not to mention people would never bother with it). It's here to reinforce the identity of the player, and the character of the world. I agree that scale should be restored and some kind of 'zoom to ship/spin' mechanic should be in place, but they shouldn't reintroduce the old hangar, that's in the past now.
Does this update add any significant changes? On the surface, no. But it is creating the framwork to advance Eve into an age beyond just floating ships in space. It feels more like a real world, your ship feels more like something you own, apart from the identity of your character. I applaud CCP for their forward-thinking development strategy. They're making Eve into something that none of us could have ever expected it to become.
I hope CCP won't be discouraged by all these people badmouthing their hard work. In a couple of weeks, people will calm down, a few will cancel, and CQ will feel as if it's always been there.

Add me to the pile of people who are a bit disappointed. I'm just going to repeat others but I think repeating is worth it.
Whine 1: The processing power CQ eats really damages the experience. Eve in space runs well on my laptop, but CQ is just uncomfortable to play; immersion isn't even considered. More importantly, the heat it pumps out of my machine is just too much. I don't want to look like I'm trying to make a statement here, but I have indeed turned off CQ because of the heat. I don't like my laptop cooking so much that in 30 seconds it is almost too hold to hold near the exhaust.
The walking speed also is just. not. fun.
+++ If you can do something about this CCP, please do. +++
Whine 2: Ship spinning is sorely missed, I think for 2 reasons: -- One, people want to avoid the chuggy CQ. The current option for this is practically a punishment. It's really disheartening to see that your options are either accept poor performance, or accept a static image of a door. Every single player has just come from a nice ship-spinning hangar but now both the replacement choices are worse. -- Two, people want to ogle their ship; it's enjoyable. Viewing it from CQ isn't impressive, it's really frustrating. The fitting window doesn't feel right, it feels like a window. I want to look all over my ship feeling like that's my real ship I'm looking at.
One easy solution; simply provide a "Look At" option from CQ, exactly like we do in space with other ships. This alone would maybe be enough to remove that frustration of not being able to ogle your ship. Another easy solution; return the old hangar view, as many have already begged.
Allowing players to select between CQ and ship hangar as the default docking response and adding the respective "Leave Pod/Enter Pod" options would make everyone happy. Everyone. Happy.
+++ I think this is a request that deserves to be answered. +++
Whine 3: It adds very little to the game especially for the power it consumes, and the hype it received. I understand that it is only the beginning, but it is too much at the beginning. There is a big feeling of a placeholder we spent the last few months anticipating.
The turrets are very cool but not enough to compensate for the feeling of a big expansion we can't really play with.
As it stands, I am dismayed to think of how much attention future updates are going to give to WiS. Public areas are of course the next big focus, so does this mean the rest of the Eve game will receive significantly less attention for the next 12 months now?
+++ Please ensure we keep getting new things to play with, not just a year of WiS work. +++
Whine 4: NEx is not well-received. Some of the NeX prices are just rude, however I understand that the only way you can make cash-only items hold some level of rarity is to make them similarly expensive.
So the truth here is that I dislike how NeX is not a toy for players of Eve, but a reward for those who spend cash. I do acknowledge that CCP had already made this fact known, and I honestly I don't begrudge CCP's decision in this; making money is the reality here. I am simply expressing my personal disappointment that with zero possible in-game production of clothing, this Incarna update never was about everyone having fun with their wardrobe.
A real complaint about the NEx store is how it looks to everyone that there is so little. Again I don't want to get on my high horse here but the incredibly low amount of content in NeX looks disrespectful. Eight items. It is very clearly only a demonstration of concept, not a great new thing for wealthy players to have fun with, and that's not a good thing to note. CCP, you should have let them have more fun.
+++ I don't demand change with the NeX store, I only hope that it doesn't build a focus of cash-player/non-cash-player into the game. +++
Whine 5: It's dark and quite monotone. I think it starves the player of visual stimulation just a tad too much.

It's been said by every second poster in this thread. Please make CQ / normal station environment optional choices.
Please restore previous functionality. Giving us the normal station environment back would go a long way in this.
In CQ, please restore the previous station services window. It is useful to see the NPC Corporation's logo and have a one-click access to its info sheet. I don't know why this was taken away. It makes no sense you would cut out functionality, ever.
Edit: Put ships where they belong in the docking area. They need to be centered above the platform. Small ships ought to look small, not hang mid-air way off their actual docking platform. It makes no sense, it breaks immersion and it looks bad.
Seriously. Please. We're ****ing begging on our knees for you to stick to your promises. It's not really asking too much, is it?
^^ YES FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WE ARE ON OUR KNEES
Turning off CQ should go back to spinning ships.
Ships should be centered on the platform, and for detailled view the old spinning hanger was just fine.
As someone posted before, we should go into hanger and then have the option to get out of pod. PLEASE CCP LISTEN TO US!

Agree with the majority sentiment. CQ should be accessed through a disembark button in the hanger. Better immersion quicker in and out maintains all previous functionality and allows those who could care less about Incarna to ignore it.
This thing is a serious friggin memory hog. over 1gb of ram chewed up per client. And everyone said 8gb of ram would be too much.
Performance in CQ is ass even with a fairly beefy rig, phenom x6, 8gb ram 460GTX it can run one instance ok I guess but I put a second instance on and performance starts to degrade rapidly. I've also noticed quite a bit of buginess with the sound.
Understand I'm not one of the anti-incarna folks I think that the game could really use an avatar based aspect to attract people who just have to have that in a game. But what I don't understand is why the resistance to allowing people to stay in their ships and maintain the existing functionality as well as compatibility for that matter.
It really would be the best of both worlds solution. People who wanted to go in station would need the different interface and shaders but those who are content to remain in their ships could continue to play with their older systems.
The other thing I suggest is do something about the friggin controls. particularly the camera. having to constantly move the camera around manually is just not a really workable solution in a avatar based game. I personally prefer first person view but if you aren't going to do that one generally gets the over the shoulder view unless a different camera option is chosen.
I mean this shouldn't be that difficult it's not like you have to reinvent the wheel here, these types of controls have been in place in MMO's as far back as EQ.
Finally do something to optimize the CQ, I understand you have that new fancy engine and all but seriously you're not even beating the performance of far older and frankly more complex game environments. I mean you're having to render one room it's not like you're having to render an entire city here.
Until you get the performance stuff optimized and worked out no one save for those with the absolute top of the line rigs are going to be interested in incarna and frankly that's not enough people to pay the bills. Particularly when you are talking about a niche product to begin with.

I read people saying: if You don't like it, leave it. Yes ok, but I re-subscribed about 2 weeks ago for 6 months! I was hoping to have a lot of fun, as usual, and eventually extend my sub. And now? I have an expensive PC, which I use also for graphics and 3D modelling, that goes crazy like a Jet turbine when I enter in the CQ.
Who will refund my 6 months subscription??
I want to point out, for those super-hitech, peoples that my PC doesn't have cheap components. I work with it and my job relies on it! It is even without the case to improve ventilation.
There's absolutely something wrong in the Incarna engine.
