Well, I'm sorry to say this, but.... This is even worse than Empyrean Age... And I'm afraid you'll have even less customers for the noble exchange than you have people who actually CARE for the faction war in Faction Warfare and don't just run missions to get the LP.

Originally by: Imnotded I run multiple accounts and mandatory CQ is inherently flawed and just creates extra problems with no net gain.
With the current setup my comp has to load CQ for EVERY toon I have OR I have to stare at that stupid pic (I have heard that this "stupid pic" option is only temporary). The hanger view was removed which is annoying in and of itself and we were FORCED into the CQ with all toons. Even if I want to use CQ and walking in stations I should be able to choose which toon gets out of thier ship and let the others stay docked up and save my system resources. Does CCP think that I am going to move around station with all my toons like some POP star and his posse??
The old hanger screen was useful for interacting with your ship and removing it is just detrimental. There is NO NEED to have to load CQ if I have to dock for ammo or to grab a mission! There is NO NEED to have to load CQ on ALL MY toons if I am only EVER going to walk around with one account at a time !
Forced CQ is a HORRIBLE IDEA ! Give back the hanger view ! Give a button to go to CQ ! !

$60 just to see my character with a funny device in his eye, that is no more than a code of zeroes and ones?
**** That!
That almost cost just as much as my graphics card.
"Give me monocles or give me death". Kill me! I thought these were vanity items, not narcissists items. I could use that 60 bucks to buy a PS3 game, at least it's something I can touch. And that game can provide me with hours of entrainment, what the hell does the 60$ code of zeroes and ones monocle give me? Just the image of my character with something in his eye?
If someone's gonna pay that much then at least give people the ability to see in inferred with these things. Hell, give me Predator vision! Watch Predator 2, I want every single one of those vision modes along with funny gestures and animations of these devices focusing in and out. THAT would make these things ALMOST worth that much. I like the CQ, I understand it's a first step to other content, and I look forward to having EVE grow into a fuller world. I have added time to 3 of my accounts for another 3 months to show my support.
My feedback:
1) I would say the movement needs some work. Run and standard strafe movement from any FPS would be nice. I'm sure anyone grabbing the WASD keys that has played any FPS felt a bit awkward.
2) I would like to see a go between from the old station view to the CQ view. I think it makes sense that you would not always leave your pod every time you dock up to just get ammo or something.
3) While I won't be participating in Micro Transactions, I don't disagree with them. The current store is a little confusing though since the pricing is VERY high and there are only a small amount of items that aren't really that interesting. I could see some rare items fetching high prices, but there should be a lot more selection at normal MT prices.. drop a few zero's from the prices.
I also think that any MT item should not give anyone a competitive edge. Someone mentioned transactions that could change race or reset standings with NPC corps which I thought was an interesting concept.
4) The new gun icons are too dark. I keep thinking my guns are offline when they in fact are online.
5) Control over what channel of information I want to watch on the CQ TV. If I've missed this, disregard
6) It runs well on my system, but I'm running a new 4 core sandy bridge I5 OC'd to 4.8Ghz and an ATI HD5870 with the fan @ 80% while I play any game. I can run 3 eve clients with no issue. I also use a ramdisk for eve cache and the clients are installed on a SATA 3 SSD drive. Having said that, I also play from an old beater laptop sometimes while out of town etc. If there are more options to stress machines less, that would be nice. I think EVE should remain a game where you can reasonably connect from anywhere, without needing a jacked up gaming rig ( from an options menu point of view).

I'm a 2004 player, a member of the large majority of players that never post to the Forums.
I am strongly encouraging the developers to provide a "disembark" button so that those of us that have absolutely NO interest in walking in stations can OPT OUT.
I also have NO interest in the Noble Exchange and am disgusted by the whole concept.

personal review : i sat in front of my comp i launch the client, i light a cig and... almost burned myself when the music run and a SMEXY maller pass across my screen ... (maller sexy??? WTH THANKS CCP for this (not mentioning : *sacrilege* ! )
log in... *2minutes under my desk seeing where my cig rolled, fixing back my jaw and focusing on my screen* ok its small some thing could be better but OWELL DAMN nice preview... whinning about will not help: go over it and freaking roll.
running all smooth all graph to max (avatar settings too) on a Phenom II x6 1035T 2ghz with 8gig ram and a GTX 460 1gig(heavilly overclocked) (wich costed me almost nothing since its a basic low entry 800$ computer) fps drop a bit in station but still smooth: totally love it.
good job CCP on that public Showroom of what incarna has to offer!
no im not a fanboy but i will not cry and ***** about it, when its far away from being ugly. (evolve, take the new, remember the old and say "darwin was here")

Finally had a chance to download this... and chortled at Client update #3 already. It works on my "old" Vista - only checked with one character ...
It works on my Win 7 laptop with 2 clients but after playing with ambling around the captain's quarters, I basically unchecked the environment because it wasn't that inspiring.
May stress test it in front of the tellybox later...
But noticed no heat issues on the laptop (running two clients and mining with a couple of hulks)...

Originally by: Jayden Jaymes for me 1 client with dualcore 1,8Ghz 4GB RAM, winXP, ATI HD 4800 1680x1050 all graphic on max fullscreen mode CQ runs smooth and fast, then undocking, space runs smooth and fast, so its a good work, grats.
problem is after re-dock and re-undock, fps falls down in CQ and in space too, so need more optimization.
the feeling of CQ and hangar is really cool, sounds are cool too. i see lots of possibilities for future developing.
what i miss and hope they will be avaliable in future:
- looking out from a window - travel in a wall-lift in the hangar - toilet/bathromm in my CQ - huge indoor station spaces :)
- bring back the old hangar view and make it optional to choose to get out from the ship/pod
- make vanity items a bit cheaper or make them useful (like implants)
- need 200x more vanity items to choose from
- make a dev blog about why vanity items are expensive for those who have no common sense to see why
- get old-maller back in game with other statistics or something, cause it looks really cool
- and if you want more players, make pvp accessable and fair for all skill level player and make pve interesting
continuing:
tested with 2 clients 1440x900 windowed mode + photoshop+dreamweaver+firefox with 8 windows, clients antialiasing disabled, postprocessing none, shadows low, texture+shader+lod high, CQ disabled it runs smooth like before. i don't wanna test it with 2 CQ enabled cause i'll never use it with multiclients running. good work, gz!

First post on this forum - took CCP to release the most useless expansion ever (the dawn of the undeveloping of Eve), and a dude a couple of hundred rage posts back to take all the silent players into account of being positive towards this expansion, to write it.
My first impression was that CCP this time had made a big bummer, so be it. well - until I noticed the prices in the NE-shop. That simply is outrageous, and way below the perception I had of CCP. At least try to remedy this. If you don't dare to do it public, then fix it silently. This way we can all pretend it was an error.
CQ - my biggest issue was here how to disable the thing. Nothing there that enhances the game play. The look and feel of it was something other companies could manage a decade ago, and it is so out of line with the intelligent space game that made me (and possibly a lot others) play Eve. Can't get into my head why you didn't fix the clutter of windows if wanted the game to be more friendly for new players (CCP soundwave made the suggestion during AT, so you have the idea inhouse), or made some of the other fixes that your customers asks for (the forum is crawling with suggestions).
The total lack of response to the obvious disapointment of the players that fond your company doesn't do your reputation any good either. Please let us have some sort of reaction (other than closing threads that you don't approve).

Ok CCP - I hope you value my comments from before and will now on this Grande Day of Incarna Deployment - cheers!
1) First impressions: Loved it - great immersion/graphics/buttons. 2) Second thought: OMG your coding is bad or something because my NEW laptop is choking. I understand your awesome new proprietary 3D models are something to be proud of, but FIX THE CODE so it doesn't take an IBM supercomputer to run it. If this were Blizzard **CHOKE** this **** would run on Win98 with a 486DX processor and look as good. HAHA
3) Turrets: Look awesome when animated - **** as icons. I can't tell ANY OF THEM APART! I would at least change their background color to match their naturally indigenous species color. EG - red for projectiles, blue for rails, yellow for lasers...something. Looking through my hangar now what use to be an easy Visual ID is now searching for text of gun I want - if that makes sense. Please fix.
4) Aurum debate - my .02 cents. Prices SHOULD be high, but NOT THAT HIGH. I love your solution to the destructibleness of items we purchase (keeping them if on me and potential to lose if in my cargo, station, etc)! 4a) With that said - WTF? I thought we could put requests in for custom ideas that the artists would design for an AURUM price and then we could resell for ISK? I wanted my PERSONAL and CUSTOM ship logo ideas, etc. WHAT HAPPENED???? Some people argue this was never part but I saw it in the dev blog. If it wasn't - it NEEDS to happen. That is some serious income for CCP and serious creativity for players (albeit expensive - but that is OK.) Like someone said - VANITY should come at a price and I AGREE. DON'T LET players dissuade you of that totally. Bulk CCP designed clothes - those should be MICRO transactions and cheap (EG. - Quafe underwear - haha).
5) Again for emphasis - fix this lag and the broke stuff in Incarna ASAP. You are losing subsribers like mosquitos on a zap lantern!

It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes the new turret icons very difficult to distinguish?
It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes CQs a far clumseier way to quickly access services?
It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes it seem daft I'd get out of pod just to pick up some more ammo?
It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes a dull metal wall a seem like a giant finger to those who turn off CQs, and makes it much harder to tell at a glance WTF I'm flying?
It's my "anti-change" attitude that STILL makes Eve crash when APing while tabbed out of fullscreen? (been happening since INCURSION 1.4)
It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes item bonuses not apply.
It's my "anti-change" attitude that makes CQs require a massive amount of power, more than five year old 3D games that look twice as good?
I could go on, but obviously it's just my "anti-change" attitude that's the problem, and I need to STFU. That's for putting me right. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Really hating this "upgrade". The client uses almost 3 times as much RAM as previously, and runs at about half the speed. This will drive a lot of people who dual-client to abandon the game as unplayable - I know of one player who appears to have stopped playing because his hardware can't support the kind of concurrency he was playing with. Please let us switch the captains quarters off, and return to a plain background. I currently derive little or no benefit from being able to walk back and forth randomly in an obstacle-ridden environment as I attempt to pursue my business.

Love the performance gain when flying around spaceship in internet-spaceships (that's what the game is all about)
WIS/CQ needs to be worked on, I didn't expect it to be perfect at first anyways :) Put on the other hand I did expect it to be like this:
- Dock you're ship in station
- Press the disembark button
This way it would be easy for me to just leave my other two accounts in the ship when docked, this would help with performance issues while you guys keep on working on WIS/CQ and still allow me to easily go to my CQ when I want to, I also think it's a very logical thing that pilots do not leave they're ships everytime they dock to re-stock on ammo or Quafe.
Agent finder is awsome! (see picture for input)

Edited by: Onnen Mentar on 23/06/2011 18:57:20 Very sad excuse for an expansion. New bugs, worse performance and all that for a CQ that has an absolutely horrible UI. CQ adds more complexity to an already complex and counter-intuitive UI. I'm not really against WIS as a concept, but I can't believe you invested that much resources and came up with such a poor result. Imagine all those resources had been invested into proper spaceship game and UI design... a missed chance.

Wow, what a disaster this has turned into. People always ***** about new updates, that's simply the way it works in online gaming communities, but the overwhelming disdain for Incarna goes way beyond that. The silence from the Devs reminds me of Frankenstein with a mob of angry villagers surrounding him in the castle with pitchforks and torches.
I would like to see a butten, perhaps similiar in vein to the undock button, to enter your CQ from the old station environment.
For the fashion show bs, I hadn't planned on using any of that stuff anyways so I'm kind of indifferent to it, but I do agree the current price points are completely re****ulous.
The new turrets are in need of some tweaks to scale and style, but overall a nice addition. The turret icons, on the other hand, are abysmal. I would much prefer the old ones. If nothing else, at least make them more visually distinguishable from each other.

Any MMO company that thinks they have done something great in allowing an avatar walk around a small room, while consuming more resources than world wide real time weather modelling application, deserves to fail. CCP,
I was quite interested in walking in stations when it was first brought up and images of having corporate meetings in the flesh seemed to have a nice kick to it.
I never thought for a second this would mean giving up spinning my prized possessions!
I would have thought that docking would bring me to the normal ship screen (where I can spin to my hearts delight) and then click a little icon of a man jumping out a pod in order to load the captains quarters. Please CCP; give the option to spin or not to spin? I am so sad to be looking at a picture of door it breaks my heart I can no longer see my ship.
Eve has had a lot of changes since I joined and a few have been good, others have not been so good and this is one of them. In a world where customization and choice is key why remove one of eveÆs most loved features and not give your customers the option to be in the CQ or belted into ones ship.
7 years ago, if someone told me when I joined eve that it would still be around today I would have been positive that would be. If someone was to ask the same question now I would have to consider the last 3 years and conclude that the outlook is not as promising.
The new character bling store which has been added (at a price that would make and Marks & Spencer shopper eyes water) holds no interest for me, if I wanted bling on a rag doll I would play The Sims.
The gun effects are nice but I feel the hours could have been spent on fixing other issues within eve. Overall I am very concerned with the direction eve is headed and unless CCP take note of the hundreds of comments in this very thread I believe it will only end in tears.

- Large AC fire trails are invisible - Turret pictures on selected target are very too dark, we can't see them cause of dark background - Anti-aliasing make my PC (with ATI card, W7) become more and more slow (memory saturation ?). Especially with 2 acounts running - Warp tunnel visual effect most part of time don't appear (graphic drivers are up to date) - Items and ships windows don't refresh when jump cloning - CQ loading is veeeeery slow with 2 accounts running

In a word: Terrible update.
Walking around a pointless room is lame. Waste of computer resources if you ask me. All that time for this? Ugh... lame.
Why not spend more time upgrading content (more interesting / new quests, more epic arc missions, etc) instead of wasting time on something like the Captain's Quarters.
And to top it all off, the problems with the Mac client since the launch (which still has not been corrected) is terrible. Why not fully bug test things before release?

** ITEM 1 - Sense of scale is gone.
I remember CCP announcement that "a fix" to bring small ships to the foreground would allow people to see their detail. Well, in doing so, you just borked all sense of scale.
A Caldari Shuttle is sans a bit smaller then a Raven. You can't see depth in 2D, so you see the center round thingy stage in the middle of the hanger and that indicates the center. But the ships are no longer located at that point. Your devs great idea to show small ships have moved the small ships closer to the platform, and thus, scale is now messed up. Place your finger close to your nose and it fills half the world. Take the same finger at arms length and you can't cover the moon.
Suggestion: Allow for a free camera in the ship's hanger as an "option". Allow the user to switch camera "modes" that is centered on the ship (just as you do in space). How cool would it be to see yourself in the distance looking back upon your ship. *** THIS will also allow us to spin our ships to our hearts content, and yes, we are discontented you took an Eve-Online Mime away from us. Restore it. This new camera mode would do much for that sense of scale, and allow people to zoom up on their tiny ships.
** ITEM 2 - Gun Turrets
2a) Actual turrets are cool and nice that they tuck away to avoid the wind in warp (I guess that keeps them from getting ripped off in the wind of subspace. Submarine physics ftw). 2b) Some of the actual turrets are known as 4 barrel, but the turrets are only 2 barrel. You are going to fix that with an update before you tear your scrum team off to something shiny yes? 2c) Some of us are old, when the progress bar spins, it's much smaller and harder to see. 2d) The Caldari icons on the target in space are next to invisible. 2e) The Caldari icons for the turrets have no definition (Suggestion, maybe overlay text like 150mm, and 75mm or something) 2f) See post 223 of the issues thread for picture... mining lasers are shooting through the ship (which really is ticking off the scrubby mining crews breakfast time)
** Item 3 - The hud
Thank you for restoring the yellow to the capacitor vs the orange that was out for awhile.
** Item 4 - Captain's Quarters
4a) Why do you make me walk to a certain range before I can activate a button. Just allow us to click it. (I know you want to enforce space and us moving in 3d, but really, not in our quarters). 4b) Ship drag to deploy. (I'm fairly even tempered but this is getting to me.) 4c) Lighting, allow us to control. Way to dark, can't see half of the good stuff you have done because I have seen it on YouTube. Our monitors are not the same you get on Corporate Vendor Sales. 4d) Allow us to lay on the bed. It's bad enough there is no bathroom and I have to undock just to pee in my pod, but not allowing me to lay down. Fix. 4e) Pod embark/debark in public space? You remove Pleasure Hubs but support open nudity? Breaks the immersion from the fiction and the fan videos you did. I'm hoping this was just a quick Minmatar style fix to roll out Incarna, but for the Caldari and Amarr, it should be more private. Not sure about us Gallente. 4f) News screen. Off button. Please watch any episode of Max Headroom to understand why. 4g) Allow re-customization again. "Why didn't anyone tell me my butt is so big", Mel Brooks
** Item 5 - Character Customization
The new me, I'm holding my breath.
** Item 6 - Hilmar
Please leave your office once in awhile.
