Well the only reason I might stay in a limited measure is I have alot of time invested in this game and alot of friends in it.
Would I recommend EVE to a friend? Heck no, I tell them off because I think there effort building a position and social network in the game will be completely wasted if they start now.
What would it take for me to ever recommend EVE to a friend again? When I log in tomorrow the AUR is gone, the NeX icon is gone (the items are added to normal re-customization) and noone at CCP will ever mention the NeX or MT ever again...then there might be a chance I start recommending EVE to my friends again.

Was really hoping for an answer. I'll go back to my statement from the threadnarok. I'm a switch/router/firewall guy, do it for a living. If something is not explicitly denied (thus why any router acl ends with deny any/any) it is implicitly allowed.

CCP Zulu you can **** right off and die under a train. You chose to tackle the easy issues and ignore the major issues at hand. Its a bit like complaining that your coffee is too hot while your face is on fire.
We knew what Fearless was and its context, what we want to know is whether its contents are going to become reality.

Originally by: Dr Zom Many people seem to forget that CCP already had MT in game. I can already use real money to buy an advantage. The controversy is wheither I will be able to buy a unique advantage. I can already use my real money to buy a Titan through PLEX. I can already use my real money to buy faction ammo through PLEX. How CCP would kill themselves is if I could use real money to buy a SUper-Mega-Titan with Sansha-Blood-Serpentis-Unobtanium Ammo, only available with Aurum.
And that is what this devblog did absolutely nothing to address. Yes, we understand that internal newsletters do not constitute company policy. The question we are asking is What is company policy on unique non-vanity items for Aurum?
The titan you're buying also was made by a player. That player is profiting from your buying it. The miner who mined the mineral is profiting off you. The guy who researched the cap part bpos. The guy who made the titan bpc. In this case, you're still keeping the economy of eve fresh.

"The opinions and views expressed in Fearless are just that; opinions and views. They are not CCP policy nor are they a reliable source of CCP views as a company."
Ok. So Fearless is not CCP policy or a reliable source of CCP views. That doesn't mean that what was said was inaccurate.
The principal question posed by the majority of the EVE community was whether non-vanity items would be available for purchase with Aurum.
You had a chance to disspell any concerns raised about such an issue but failed to comment. Accordingly, some will presume or, at least, be very troubled that CCP will indeed pursue that option.
"What we have here is a failure to communicate."
Please respond to the question that appears to be the most pressing to the EVE community. Anything short of a clear "yes" or "no" will undoubtedly be viewed negatively.
Thank you.

I can't help but feel a little insulted by the blog post. That whole bit about how I buy things in real life that fit a particular price point for me and someone with lots more money might run off and spend more on high dollar items, I personally find that insulting. Suddenly, not only do I have to deal with *******s that go out and buy $1000 suits in the real world, but the developers of a game are now telling me I'm too poor to enjoy everything in their fake world?
I've been trying to keep a cool head about this but frankly I feel like I've been attacked as a customer in this blog post.

I have to say, that did not seem to address most (if any) of the issues I've seen brought up (and I've only read bits and pieces of other threads, which makes the response seem bizarre in that context). The response itself seems incredibly dismissive and an attempt to wag the finger at your player base, while it's legitimately concerned about the direction of the company/game. I don't see any reason to believe CCP has an understanding of the situation, the concerns, or that there will be any move to address the issues meaningfully.
I've only recently come back to Eve, after being away for 3 years from the game, and I can't believe I feel compelled to already suspend my subscriptions, but that's what I'll be doing, until such time as I can feel comfortable renewing.
Part of why I got burnt out from Eve was because of situations like this, which were almost always escalated by the responses (or lack thereof) by the company. This seems no different. I'd honestly thought things might have changed from what I'd seen and heard... Some aspects of the game gave me that impression as well. It's why I've been giving it another shot.
But as it stands, right this moment, it seems that in 3 years CCP hasn't grown as a company. The right hand still doesn't seem to know what the left is doing. There is still this struggle with timely, informed and professional responses. There is still only the vaguest indication of the direction the company/game is moving (is there even one?) and with keeping promises or meeting expectations (even in the rare cases where there is an attempt to set them out beforehand).
It feels like an echo of the years before when I played, always two steps forward and three back. I'm honestly, sadly, disappointed. My god, most of the people ITT are the most entitled, snotty, whiny turds, I've ever had the displeasure of reading comments from.
"Waaaah"-ing about stuff in the shop being too expensive. I hope they make gold plated onesies, and make them cost 400$ and I hope someone buys it, and laughs in the face of everyone who wanted a monocle but couldnt afford one (hint: Make isk, buy plex, buy monocle, you dont need real life $$ for this stuff)
But most of all, some developer, writes a provocative theoretical article in a internal newsletter about what in theory could be done with micro-transactions, from a proponent of micro-transactions perspective. And you people have a massive hissy fit over it? Calling for him to be fired and what not? Get a F'ing grip and calm down, you ******s. It's called brainstorming and it's a part of every (good) organizations toolbox for facilitating discussion and creative thinking, it's not like a sinister roadmap for bending players over and scrooing them for every cent they're worth.

Thank you for your response. I will avoid the mass hysteria that has consumed some and hope that this message is not buried under ten thousand others.
Sadly your response does not answer (directly) the question which has been repeated ad nauseam. That being "Will CCP sell game play affecting items such as ships and faction ammo through the NeX".
You have effectively said that matter is still being debated and is therefore an unknown. I will take you at your word.
I am not going to un-sub yet because we do not yet have game affecting items being sold for aurum through NeX. The moment this is not the case I will cancel my two accounts.
I am not going to buy anything through the NeX. It does break immersion which is important to me as an RP'er. Translate the prices to market items paid for ISK and it is just stupid. Sorry, but it is. It is not about buying a better "brand" for your character. It is just that the prices make no sense in game terms.
I like CQ and hope it grows into a more impressive feature.
Good luck with WoD and Dust.

To be honest if you put it in perspective it's a pretty amazing response if you compare it to the patch that took them 5 years....
Walking In Stations/Incarna has been on the table/in development/discussed/planned for 5 years by CCP.
After 5 years of work we got: A room A mirror and a few screens you can click on to open interfaces that already exist in the game, slower than we could open them before.
Mind you, 3D persona interface environments, many of which are equal to, if not superior to, what they just gave us, have been in MMORPG's since 1997.
I mean, when you look at it in comparison to the expansion? I'd say this devblog is pretty damn epic for only 2 days of work :)

Well, I was going to do a long, in-depth, point-by-point comment on this dev blog, but the forum post limit won't let me, so I'll restrict myself to two key points:
1) This newsletter is fairly clearly not a selection of 'views and opinions', but a vehicle for justifying and/or selling the concept of microtransactions, and not just for vanity items. As should be abundantly clear by now, this is seriously objected to by the playerbase of Eve.
2) The prices of the items that are currently in the NeX store don't equate to $1000 jeans, as is the analogy given. The 'Sterling' Dress Shirt, for example, is 3600 AUR. 1 Plex converts to 3500 AUR. Plexs, on the market where my character is, range from 370-470m ISK. I can get a Raven battleship, in the region where my character is at, for under 100m. So, actually, if you think of a Raven as decent mid-range car, this shirt is like a pair of jeans that costs more than three times what you paid for your car, which, unless you got one hell of a deal on your car, is much, much more than $1000.

Guys can i say just what was this meant to do?
Did you have any form of plan before releasing this?
Was it your hope this might help make things better?
Cause if you did, you'd best think again. All it's done for me is make me think "what the ****?" Did i really read something where you basically said "we'll charge what we like cause we know some of you will pay it to look "cool" and different from other people"?
F**K ME!! but that's the most self centred stupidest thing you could have done. Your fast running out of good will and trust from me, and your in no way convincing me that i should re-sub when my freeloader time runs out.

That blog post did exactly the opposite of what you should have done.
On the first topic and its response: you swept the problem under the carpet, AGAIN. The GREED IS GOOD newsletter might have been just for discussions, but the topics discussed are the problem here. Because they are discussing CCP breaking a promise made to the community. By not actually laying these concerns to rest and sidestepping the issue, you have only made them worse.
Incarna launch did NOT go well, perhaps you didn't have much trouble deploying it onto the server, but from a PR and communications perspective its the worst deployment of a patch CCP has ever done. Pre-deployment there was no clear communication between CCP and its players, features were introduced that we didn't ask for, and much loved features were removed. Overall Incarna adds near to no useful features to the game.
On the second topic, Those monocles are virtual items, eve is a hardcore game, its not a game where you can ask 80 dollars for a useless item and expect people to eat it. The prices are completely over the top. This isn't Second Life, and the EVE community would rather prance rare ships around that they got through proper means, than show off some crappy monocles. If you would have priced the monocles at 5 dollars at the most, people would have bought them in droves. by making them outrageously expensive you've only decapitated your own market before it even got released.
All you've proven with this blog is that CCP DOES NOT LISTEN TO OUR CONCERNS.
Your community is going crazy over this and you need to make some concrete promises RIGHT THE HELL NOW or it will implode on you. --------------------------------------------- Somewhere beyond happyness and sadness, I need to calculate what creates my own madness o/ |

Well, I think your senior producer is on drugs, what does a 1000$ RL jeans have to do with some faked virtual pixel cloth. a 1000$ jeans might give individuality but not a copyable item in your shop.
It is a pitty you abuse Eve as the testbed for your other developments and your producers just push their own will through. Sadly they forgot where they got their money from.
Compare with other games, clothes are much cheaper. Like: http://www.startrekonline.com/dyncontent/startrek/uploads/jupiter_01.jpg is 3,50 us$ .
But anyway, who needs such things if others can't see it anyway, is just for sitting on the quarters couch then. And yeah i like CQ, but i can only stare to the boring eve tv while my graphic card heats the room. Why don't you just bring an option to make cq optional and have old docked ship view?
