That took 3 days? Really?
You did not answer the simple question: Will MT's go beyond vanity items?
It's like you are pretending the issue does not exist. At this point people are past caring about the cost of the vanity items, most people will just avoid them.
As for your staff opinions, personally I did not feel that the 3 pages refering to each of your games read like opinions, they read more like a future plans for the games, though I totally understand people were likely told to write them as part of their job.
Needless to say as with many others after that blog I won't be adding more time to my account.

I get what CCP Zulu is saying but a lot of us would like a clear answer to the question below.
Gameplay effecting Micro Transactions, are they coming in the future yes/no/maybe?

I cannot believe that I waited all day, expecting some sort of sincere damage control effort to come out of CCP.
Manifest and Fallout's assurances that they were reading threads and attempting to summarize the playerbase's concerns for the rest of the company actually gave me some hope. And when I heard that the CSM was being actively communicated with I really thought we'd see something come out of all this.
I admit that allowing the rage to build up for a full 24 hours seemed ill-advised, and I wasn't even sure what would placate the masses at this point. But I didn't think the response would be worse than no response at all.
Even people who weren't previous angry and hurt over the incidents of the past week are going to have a hard time not reading this dev blog as a direct slap to the face of the players. A blatant message that despite constant assurances that CCP understood the values of their community, we are not valued.
I can only hope that Manifest, Fallout, and other devs are internally as appalled by this disgraceful response as the rest of us are.
Truly appalling.

Originally by: CCP Zulu Hey all. To clarify this blog, its intent was to address two topics and two topics only;
1. What Fearless is and the nature of its content 2. The pricing strategy behind the NeX store
I do realize there are other concerns you have and those will be addressed, but doing it all at the same time would make the messaging tricky and muddled and not allow for a focused discussion. I understand a lot of the frustration going around but if we want to discuss then we need to do so in a constructive and focused manner.
Thanks, Arnar
ok, well you really NEED to put that at the top of the blog and have there is MUCH more to come in big letters every other line... in red... probably flashing.
and why on Earth did you, after 3 days pick the 2 least significant or relevant points to open your pr fightback with????
we don't car about these issues... move on to the ones we do care about...
you also need to create a dedicated response thread and lock it for devs only so we can find your posts....
I would also add that your blog fails to address even the issues it sets out to cover... but as I don't care about those issues lets just move on... --------

Could you please tell CCP Zulu to reply about that huge yellow question repeated for just few thousands of times?
Will aurum items go **beyond** vanity?
A yes or no will suffice.

1st you say DUST514 is not for the current eve community but for the internet player base
now you say INCARNA and onward is not for the current eve community but for the internet player base
Here is a reminder; we the CURRENT playerbase with our hard earned real life money paid you to make a better game
And you as a company made this CURRENT game possible, you ignore one or both you will loose this amazing game as it is
but of course if you serve money and not us or your own talents then please go the way of many mmo companies and sell out
havent you learned what the game is about after the 99 dollar idea ? its about ppl and symbiosis of two worlds existing one in rl and in eve

Yep, you're right. Still nothing about the real concerns - will MT be for performance enhancing crap, and will you make Incarna forever optional.
Stop poking us in the eye CCP and telling us to like it. We are not happy, and that unhappiness is only rising with this dev blog. Get someone to make a tremendous mea culpa pronto.

wow, there were two pages in this thread when I first started writing, but I was so taken aback for words I could not put fingers to keyboard. I have waited in great anticipation for this blog as I had the inspired hope that "CCP won't let us down". Until this point I was entirely optimistic that sense would prevail, all week I have been as supportive as possible...
I do agree with many of the comments on "fearless" people could do with toning back some of the hate on that front towards some of the CCP employees.
However, overall the tone of that Blog was "let them eat cake" and we all know how that ended.

Edited by: KING TERROR on 24/06/2011 22:27:00 First of all it must be said that i think you made a very nice expansion edition. The new UI code seems to work fine here as well as anything else changed in workings that i use. The captains quarters is a nice addition too and maybe had to be ingame sooner. To be honest im also very qurious about what the rest of the station will be like. The shops or anything else. No idea what will come. Also major wub for weaponry.
But...
Im sorry to inform you that the world is rapidly changing at this very moment CCP.
For some time it looked like that MT's in games might become a common thing. However, as a 35 year old gamer, having withnessed the game PONG as blockbuster-prime-time-must-have-machine with turn-only controls, i must say that everyone i know pretty much ditch games that have MT's in it. More and more people are thinking the same thing. Thats because the world is tired of business and economy always calling the shots. Nice examples are the regimes we have hanging on loose ends and the DNA changed foodmarket and more.
Were getting tired of it. Subscriptions: fine, no problem. But thats as far as it will go.
On the other hand, if you dont want a 1000 dollar ingame pair of pants then dont buy them. Very true. Although its enough reason to spend my money elsewhere.
Sorry for the first rant in 6 years.
King
P.S. Micro transactions are called micro transactions because theyre small, think of 0,50 cents to 5/10 euro perhaps. 50 euro+ doesnt fit the deffinition 'Micro Transactions'. |

Part of the reason that we are angry is that you are using our money to make things to sell back to us.
The larger reason is that your response to our upset is to basically tell us to f*uck off. This blog entry is offensive.

There's only one topic that *you* need to address. The total lack of internet spaceships, the use of EVE as an Alpha testing ground for WoD, and all the rest are for Devs working in those areas.
But YOU are clearly the MEGAtransactiosn guy, so there's only one word you need to say:
Is pay-to-win being implemented? Are there going to be ships, modules, weapons, amunition coming to the cash shop?
Yes or No?

This shows that our opinions and concerns don,t matter at all.
i think they know they lose a part of the players base ,but want to get every cent out of this game they can get. So they have chosen a path and don,t care what we think about it. You must not forget that By developing Dust & WoD and Incarna ,CCP staff size has grown dramatically over the 2 last years They have to pay for those people and don,t care about what we want,as long as the cash comes in ,we are last in line

What do you really expect with responses like that.... Well let me tell you something subscriber.....
It's not CCP's fault you have misinterpreted a number of things that took place this week, but interpret this - CCP is a for profit company in the business of earning more per month. And that's exactly what they're doing, successfully. Oh yeah, if you've ever worked for a real company, you know they brain storm like this every f***ing day. It's part of finding ways to increase your bottom line.
You are paying for a license to use their service. You want to see changes before they happen, get on the test server. If it doesn't go in the direction you're happy with, are you going to be around? Who cares, you're acceptable collateral to them.
Third, if you want something to really effect your game play, become a major stock holder.
For profits listen to wallets, not mouths.

I've been following the threads, blogs and general discussions about the issue and only now am I compelled to voice my opinion. I have three accounts and I am happy with the majority of the game. I am also patient. I waited for CCP to come out with a statement. I held CCP in high regard until I read the devblog a few minutes ago. It is disgusting that anyone would compare real life items to ingame items. I believe that CCP is dead wrong on it's MT pricing. MT items are NOT in the same category as Maybach's, boutique clothing or private jets. MT allow players to buy a vast assortment of items that let players to further customize the look and feel of their game and game world. CCP will not get 60 dollars from me for a monocle. They will get my money if for 60 dollars I can buy a new CQ design and a reasonable wardrobe.
I am not one to rush things or let my emotions get the better of me so I will not resub - yet. I will wait for CCP to further clarify the problems with Incarna and hopefully I will continue to be a subscriber.

World's most expensive jeans EVE online charity
EVE Online Charity 2
EVE Online Charity 3
And more.
This is where we want our 4 PLEX to go. Not to line your pockets.
This is a huge disconnect from REALITY from CCP.
You want to defend your argument about high-priced items? How about the $100,000 EVE players have tried to give to charity. That is a good cause.
It doesn't take an economist to realize your plan is stupid.
The # of people that pay $1000 jeans are the same people that your playerbase views as arrogant, greedy and incompetent. EVE isn't full of stupidly wealthy players - we're down to earth every day people - we don't want to see some "stupidly wealthy" player get by, exceed or get some "trinket" because he has real life money.
Earn it IN THE GAME and THROUGH THE GAME. We don't play this game to line your pockets, we play this game to have fun. We give $10,000s of dollars to charity for A GOOD CAUSE. Not so you can feed us some crap about defending $80 RMT items that the WHOLE MEDIA is laughing at you for, and have no doubt will hit headline news at some point as the most ridiculous, greedy, and out of touch concept in the midst of economic crisis' and other problems.
And you still haven't answered the question about Non-Vanity items. Ignoring the topic much?
