Your blog utterly failed and my decision to stop playing EVE is upon your shoulders, hope your boss read this!

Still missed the real issue I'm concerned about. Will "pay to win" items be sold in the NeX store? ie. Faction Standings, faction modules/ammo/ships etc.
Yes, I understand the point of the newsletter was spitballing ideas and starting discussions, however the issue of "pay to win" items has still not been addressed.

CCP, as everyone's been saying. You missed the point. You've betrayed the community's trust. That isn't going to get you loyal players. They'll tell their friends that Eve isn't worth playing and it'll go on and on.
Words can cut deep.
In this case. Your wallets. Is it really worth it? Ask yourselves that. Comparing virtual items in Eve to $1,000 jeans. You're cracked outta your skulls. Think about the community. They're geeks. Sure, we spend money on collectibles, but that's something physical we can hold and look at every day without having to switch on a computer. None of us are stupid enough to say "Oh, hey, $60 for a monocle for my virtual avatar! Sure, I'll do that!" If you think that's not true, well, go ahead, keep telling yourselves that. You'll have a game, but no subscribers. Let's see who wins this little virtual hissy fit.

They've got balls, you've got to give them that. They are basically adressing none of the concerns knowing that they will lose massive amounts of players. I guess they think they will compensate with an influx of new players and hope to attract them with macrotransations...
Or they are just mad.

This was probably the most pointless CCP response yet including some rather ill places sarcastic one-liners.
This doesn't answer anything at all.
What are your intentions with MT in EVE? How far will you go? I hate that it exists at all but since at this time there are no serious competitors to EVE I can live with vanity items. If you ever where to introduce a game play affecting item in the NeX store I would however leave instantly. It would be good to know if you intend that now already so I can just go out and shoot away my ISK right now instead.
How overextended is CCP Games with WoD and Dust? It seemed you have reached way to far and now you have to trash EVE to make your liquidity...
Maybe that economist you have employed can tell you this too. There is a finite limit to how much profit you can divert from a product.
You see the more money you take in profit or re-invest in other products the easier it gets for someone else to make a better version of that product. Since they don't actually have to be more innovative then you to be better, all they need to do is not divert there earnings to other projects but re-invest a few percent more in the project and they will have a better product then you.
That EVE doesn't have direct competition now does not mean it will always be like that. Also if you expand MT you yourself have changed to put it in direct competition with MMOs that have alot more resources then EVE, you do not want to compete with those.
Stay in the ALL-INCLUSIVE subscription sandbox category for the future of EVE.

Grabbing my popcorn to watch this mega-threadtitan spew forth even faster then the other thread! You told us nothing we already didn't know. CCP Zulu, you did not answer our big question. Why not? I will hazard a guess... MT for non vanity items is coming and there is nothing we can do to stop it except to unsub and not pay you to play anymore.

That Dev Blog is complete bull**** - you have not addressed any of the issue WE have asked you too, you have simply rattled off corporate PR and avoided the point by answering when you want to hear.
Please READ the threadnaught and look at the massive list of various issues (The majority of which you have chosen to ignore) and provide us with your responses to those!
You have ignored:
- CCP corporate direction
- EVE design direction
- Lack of communication
- Ship Spinning
- CQ Opt Out
- CQ Performance
- CQ Incompleteness
- CQ Uselessness (Seriously, it does NOTHING)
- Community not wanting MT, at all
- MT only for vanity items
Don't treat us like idiots, please show us a tiny bit of respect, if you expect us to have any for you? __________________________

Quote: "The employees who submitted articles to that newsletter did exactly what they were asked to do, write about theories and opinions from an exaggerated stand."
I think people just don't believe you when you say that, with the respect to the exaggerated stand. I think the players thing those individuals just wrote THEIR stand on the topic, and that's what the players are reacting to. After reading the Glassdoor Review of CCP by Employees it makes this 'dev blog' look disingenuous.
Quote: "While itęs perfectly fine to disagree and attack CCP over policies or actions we take, we think itęs not cool how individuals that work here have been called out and dragged through the mud due to something they wrote in the internal company newsletter."
This I can agree with, I guess. Who can be called out though? Anyone? Who's running your show, CCP?
Quote: People have been shocked by the price range in the NeX store, but you should remember that we are talking about clothes. Look at the clothes you are currently wearing in real life. Do you have any specific brands? Did you choose it because it was better quality than a no-name brand? Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don't need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don't need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.
This sounds like the speech made for CCPs directors/shareholders. It's conceptual rhetoric. I feel like this was taken from the alluded to speech with "players will pay a lot of RL dollars for this. They are hooked on the game now we can really milk them!" redacted. You aren't going to win a lot of hearts and minds with this drivel.
So... I'm not one of the "rage quitters". I didn't care about Incarna that much, one way or the other, and I don't care about MT as long as it's never going to affect game play. For me, this was just an empty and lame expansion with a new record of unpolished / incomplete features. Whatever. At least I don't get stuck in gates anymore . This dev blog I've quoted above it a really lame piece of writing though. It demonstrates that CCP really doesn't "get it", as so many have stated. I didn't agree with that statement until today... but man there is a really clear disconnect in that zulu blog. Like I said... not quitting or threatening or raging. I'm just watching... and tentatively looking around at what games are out atm and what's coming out in the future. I'm just contingency planning I guess.
Thanks for the awesome game CCP. It really is the best one out there, I think. I really hope you don't destroy it.

I'm in-game rich, loaded, I got plenty of ISK.
Yet for some reason looking at the monocle pricing makes me feel like a poor RL student eyeing the $1000 pants, and there is the disconnect. At what point does CCP think an EVE player is rich enough to buy all the monocles and skirts?
There's very few multi-trillionairs in EVE...

Well at leas the blog answers one of the questions.
PAY-TO-WIN WILL BE COMING SOON TO EVE.
The simple fact that Zulu deliberately ignored it is as good as a confirmation.
I hope the few who continuing playing this game will enjoy their $1000 cash-shop only super-ships and their gold ammunition.

What on earth is the point of this dev blog? Apart from to prove everyones point that you dont, in any tiny way, listen to players at all. You addressed (and failed to do that) only a singly, tiny aspect of one small section of the multitude of varied, significant complaints that were identified by the player base. And this took you a day? What did you do, type it with your *****?
And, you'll notice, it contains no denial of future plans for non-vanity aurum items. It's another "**** you, we're doing it anyway" post.
Not good enough. You guys are so ******ed, what the **** is wrong with you.

I personally do not feel that this blog addressed any of the important concerns.
Will people be able to buy an in-game advantage with AUR?
That is the only question that I, personally, feel is important and it was not even hinted at in the blog. I like the Captain's Quarters (Although I would prefer it run smoother when I have multiple clients open) and I am unconcerned with vanity items for AUR. However, if AUR can effect the effectiveness of people and make them better than people who can not afford AUR. Well, that is not acceptable and even though I could probably afford said items. I would never buy them.

Edited by: Smoke Adian on 24/06/2011 21:29:49 HOLY **** - this is the first time that I've really felt you guys have gone off the deep end.
You didn't answer anything regarding the lies about MT not affecting gameplay when clearly it is being considered by your leading people.
You made no attempt to correct anything such as simply saying "no worries, we'll make the ship spinning screen an option again." I mean, that alone would have been such an easy solution to a lot of rage.
I've been upset at patch deployments many times before, but this is the first time I just feel sad. Something fundamental has changed at CCP. The playerbase's opinions are inconsequential and based on that blog it is clear you'll continue to push through whatever changes you feel like. There was not a single compromise in that blog.
Now you guys have clammed up and chosen to engage us, your customers, in battle, all to defend a co-worker who is parading around an opinion we were promised CCP would never hold. Did you read the newsletter? He supports money for ammo, SHIPS, and more. Doesn't that worry you too?
I guess it goes, with out saying that I, like most of the people in this thread, will not be renewing my accounts. It was fun while it lasted.

This is so true
Originally by: Mizhara Del'thul Waaaah. Cry and ***** some more, people.
This devblog says pretty much what I've been saying all along. The document in question was little more than a brainstorming session put into writing. While there's things there I disagree with, you people seriously need to pull your collective heads out of your asses, or shove them far enough in that you can't talk out of them anymore. You're pulling out tiny little tidbits from a brainstorming session and crying and whining about them, while blowing them way out of proportion.
I hope they quadruple the cost of Aurum items so the vain pricks who buy them will look like the magnificent wastes of oxyen they are, wasting real life money on virtual vanity items instead of something beneficial.
There are real issues to be concerned and maybe even irate about in Eve. This ****? Not it.
All expansions in Eve have needed tweaking and patching until they work fine on all systems. All expansions in Eve featuring new stuff(tm) have required balancing over time until they work as they should. Why the hell do you insane ******s think Incarna of all things wouldn't require the same? You guys seriously need to relax and have some freakin' patience.
We all have legitimate issues we can point to and ask CCP to focus on. Balance supercaps. Finish FW and all the other half-finished features added to the game. Return live events and work on them some more. Un**** the sound-engine until it stops derping halfway through an engagement. Fix the performance issues some people have with CQ. Make CQ activated with a button present in the normal ship-spinning mode.
Add another hundred things, depending on who you talk to. All legitimate, all things worthy of taking notice of...
And yet... what creates an uproar of epic stupidity and *****ing... an internal pdf that is for all intents and purposes just a brainstorming session of the 'what if...?' variety, and the cost of a ****ing monocle.
If I were to throw my toys out of the pram and quit Eve at this point, it sure as hell wouldn't be because of CCP. It would be because of how ashamed I am of my fellow players who really need to sit down, shut the **** up, then think for a ****ing minute. You're seriously *****ing your way into a freakin' frenzy over nothing.
To any CCP employees/leaders/whatever that may read this: You and I don't see eye to eye on a lot of things when it comes to gameplay, storyline and roleplaying in Eve Online. CQ is proof of that. Still... I thank you for still providing a better MMO and game than all those other MMO devs out there, and I'm still here as a paying customer that still trusts you to listen to the community and then make your own decisions. The right ones. You'll never please everyone, and you haven't always pleased me... but I trust that you are still making decisions with the intent to make Eve as good as you can. (Making unprobable mission runners cry in their bowl of waaaah made my ****ing year, for instance.)
Whether I agree with those decisions or not... you're still way within the boundaries. Thank you, and keep up the good work.
And for ****'s sake, make CQ activated by a button in the normal ship-spinning screen.
