CCP care to comment on the veracity of this?
It does explain better than anything else why CCP is hellbent on forcing MT and IP Licensing upon a blatently unwilling customerbase. It's not like CCP haven't been told for well over a year the majority do not want it. (example T'Ambers poll in CSM and following resignation)
It also explains why despite the protests, CCP are pushing ahead anyway.

Does no one realize that EverQuest and EverQuest II are still very active?

No way, I can't believe it! Any proof aside from the article which could be faked? |

Edited by: Captain Mastiff on 26/06/2011 16:51:39 The timing seems all right...
This news saddens me, I would say yay for Sony potentially being able to pump some serious cash into development for all games created by CCP. However I am deeply disappointed to know that this will mean micro transactions will dominate Eve.
CCP... please if you must at least make Sony agree to restrict micro transactions to vanity items... I promise to keep both accounts subscribed if you do!
Fallout help us :(
Edit: Timing...
Dust 514, PS3 exclusive Eve - Incarna, Microtransactions and sudden silence from CCP Star Wars Galaxy - Ends CCP - Potential talk of financial problems (rumours) Eve - died

If it was true doubt anyone would know until there was an 'official' announcement. I have my doubts though, the timing is a little convenient.

No, EQ2 is dying off very slowly, they've consolidated servers for like the 4th time recently. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

To be honest... between a controlling stake owned by an indebted gambler with ties to the Russian mafia and SOE,... hm. Actually harder to decide than I thought...

That would be a masterful spin to the story wouldn't it? Like a full 180 degrees.

Not denying it isn't sketchy at best.
But CCP are forcing all this stuff through depsite the obvious resistance and this is a better explanation as to why than anything else. If this isn't why, then there's literally no explanation for CCPs destructive behaviour at all.

If this is true, I'm glad I'm canceling subscriptions. Sony is the epitome of an evil empire. It does seem like a bit of a coincidence that CCP has been looking more and more like Sony.

I have played EQ II off and on since 2 weeks after it opened. They have not had a rash of consolidations. Even "recently". The last merges happened several months ago. One of them was my Najena server into Unrest which was something people asked for for a while (merging Najena).
Najena used to be the unofficial Aussie server, as people used to say.

That makes perfect sense. $99 license fee, the new revenue strategy, CCPs disdain for its customers (oh wait, thats not new - but its consistent with Sony's business practice)

I've been playing since launch for the most part. It is dying off actually. It's a shame, but it is.

It's a last attempt to save EVE from the financial locusts he accidentally sold CCP to. So all those bad updates are done to push down CCP's market value in a deal with Sony to buy it at a reduced price and for exclusivity with the Dust 514 franchise. --------

and all required changes to business strategy to conform with Sonys practices prior to a takeover.
This is why I'm concerned

I'd put one my bets on Jumpgate Evolution, being that its been in a funding limbo for about 2 years now. The other likely is Star Trek online since Crypic is more or less defunct, and looking to sell. Ironically enough by alienating their player base by focusing almost exclusively on micro-transaction released content.

It makes sense, why CCP are making a mad dash with MT and pushing out a single room in Incarna; to increase their product portfolio so they gets more moneys to retire with.
