So Here we go, covert cyno, then regular cyno, then black ops jump in then titan.
Bridge Effects on host ship haven't changed, and both covert and regular cyno's share identical effects. As well as jumping ships have same effects. Also a ship jumping out has the effect run the same but the effect implodes instead of explodes, but I forgot to fraps that. gotta go back to work... enjoy.

New Cyno effect looks almost unchanged. and there should be a different effect for covert Cyno's

I for one think it looks great. Much cooler than the one we have now. There is a hint of wormhole in that effect too which is cool for consistency... well done and about time says I.

what a let down. Must have not watched the same video. There is all kinds of lightning in the new effect.
Not saying it couldn't be improved; but it is miles better than what we have now. I hope the sound is also improved. |

It's ok - the old one looked a tad weird at times in mass-jumps (particulary the cones orientation).
The only thing I'd like to see improved is the order at which things take place - right now it's:
ship appears -> flash
where it should be
flash -> ship appears
So the ship becomes visible after the maximum amplitude of the flash starts to fade... morons-áare recruiting. We're good at breeding! |

The timing looks a little off. The effect should happen first then the ship appears.
But hey, Im still a fan of the super original effects and wish those back the most. However this will do for now. |

The cyno is a beacon, not a rift. The rift is opened by the jumping (or bridging) ship.

Other than the upped particle count I'm not seeing the difference.
Also, not having diff effects for covert cynos is ********. Just sayin'.
I personally liked the old one where there was a sense of movement/momentum as ships came in through a rift. You had time to 'oh ****'. This one is more like a cyno fart. |

Well the old one was better than both, but this new one is better than the current one. A lot.
I believe that if the OP pictured several ships jumping in together with the titan, the effect would be waaaaaaay cooler.
Also. Will we get that effect on the gate jump as well? You could play it in reverse when the ship jumps out from the system, and play it normal when the ship jumps in on another system. That'd be awesome. Sometimes the only difference between a budding genius and a blooming idiot is where they chose to take a stand. |

They are indeed new effects ... but pretty pretty poor, I mean, you have seen the old cyno, right? requires more lightning! 
1. The bubble effects needs to be larger at least as large as the ship, or at least a shockwave/bubble covering the size of the ship jumping in (as per the old awesome lightning cyno).
2. Timing is off, Cyno effect first THEN ship appears out of the conflagration.
3. Covert cyno should look different from a normal cyno. I would suggest a normal cyno has some wider spread effects out to the ranges a cap will jump in (12-15km or so), a covert cyno should have some darker colours in it.
4. The jump in effect could be based on the fuel used (ie racial) easy to add and nice bit of atmosphere. (Suggest Min: red Gallante: Green Caldari: blue Amarr: white/yellow) |

If you watch the whole clip, the jump effect does scale with the size of the ship jumping. It is a bit difficult to get a sense of the relative scale, but note how far the camera is zoomed out for the titan jump: you can barely see the little cyno frigate in the center. The flash from the titan appears to quite literally light up the whole grid. The Black Ops flash pales in magnitude, whichis the way things should be. Definitely will look awesome when several capitals jump on grid.
I do agree that the timing feels a bit off, by maybe a second or so. Otherwise, looks very nice. It's not the old cyno, but I honestly can't say that it is in any way worse. It looks awesome, and that's what matters in the end.
Black Ops cynos should get a somewhat different effect. |

-How does a ship get from one place to another? A warp drive.
-What happens behind you when you warp? A red shift.
So in essence I really approve of this cyno because that red shift looks great and also captures the essence of a wormhole (which i'm a fan of). |

Agreed, the flash should come before for the oomph effect. And yeah, the ship could come out of cloak or something cool instead of juste being there.
I'm glad you kept the base of the old effect though :). The new cyno itself is awesome. But like I said, fix the jump in. |

The jump out effect is pretty good (can't beat the old effect but is a HUGE leap from the current bs we got now). Just need to fix the orientation of the light to make sure it comes from the front side and not some random direction.
The jump in just looks stupid and the light flash is way over done and not needed. I would rather see the lighting cone/storm the "main" effect then the red light. Just make the storm the size of the red flash and more intense (thicker lighting). Then change the red light to be roughly the size of the ship. |

Call me crazy but I think the red offshoot is the ship itself firing off to the destination. The systems I used in the video (if the default landing point orientation is a compass for direction) appear to be factored in the direction it shoots off. |

As for the jump in, I'd like the appearance of a jump in to be similar to a wormhole for the whole impression that you are looking into a different star system.

I mean the one given could be right one too .. ship appears causes change of energy flow with following effect of energy explosion.
Dont know i am not physicist but for me its matter of opinion and your own perception of what looks right and what wrong ..
Just curious how it would look for the covops pilot to open cyno for titan bridge with 700+ BS and support fleet.. well i know its old school but one can hope that battleships become the main firepower. |

My honest opinion.
Far better than the place holder, with a good 'oomph' behind it, but still doesn't hold a candle to the old one's style.
The cone of lightning was f'ing sweet.
To be better, I'd suggest doing the reverse of the jump out animation, having a beam of light fly in towards the ship. |

It should also be accompanied by a loud 'Swoosh' sound, because we all know that's how rifts sound (due to the doppler effect).

bring on the new particle system that was promised in 2007. That nos effect they demo'd at the fanfest was awesome and much more up with the latest graphics available in games.
These all look like DX7/8 effects with a single dx10 effect over the top (the bubble effect), although not terrible i guess.

Simply add a huge, obscuring flash at the moment the ship appears. Implosion-charing-effect/explosion-blinding-flash/whatever. As long as it starts large enough to hide the ship then all's good .
I hope that the issue is addressed one way or another, though. |

It's my understanding that the old Cyno effect, in which a VORTEX OF LIGHTNING APPEARED AND THE SHIP WAS THROWN FROM IT, was awesome.
This new thing, even when they get the timing down, can in no way surpass that sort of epicness. Why you can't tell your effects artist to just recreate 'That old one, but updated' is beyond me. Would be cool if the color of the Jump in flash could be dependent on the Fuel that the ship uses.
ex. Hydrogen = Blue Flash, Oxygen = Yellow, nitrogen = inert (Pick a color??), HELIUM = Pink (ROFL!) |

i will reserve final judgment until the final version but i have 2 pieces of feedback
1. please please have an awesome sound effect .. along the lines of someone ripping open your skull with a loud bang while you have a hangover..
2. please rethink the little fly away animation on the jump out ... bit on the cheesy side and unnesessary as your ship isn't really flying anywhere anyways. crank up the lightning effect that is there already and i would be giggly happy
other then that .. thankyou for finally taking the time to bring luv to the capital effects for the old vets like me :)

In the case of the cyno effect it's common sense dramaturgy - any third-class David Copperfield-wannabe will make the bunny appear after the flash - not just throw a flashbomb on a bunny that unspectaculary crawled on stage through a hidden door a few seconds before.

I had never seen the old effect before. That is so incredibly freaking cool! I mean total awesomeness. Why the hell did they remove such extreme awesomeness? I mean the sheer scope of its awesomeness is beyond any other effect in the game.

After CCP announced almost an year ago that they hired some super special guys to work exactly on the cyno and jump effects, to see this result after so much time is kinda disturbing.
Yes its better then the current ones but no match for the old one. To see a ship coming through the vortex of lightnings was an amazing experience and was giving you the impression of travel, it was really looking like this ship just crossed an ocean of stars to appear infront of you.
This now is kinda "meh" and even though i realize its a test stuff, simply improving it will not do, IMO It needs to be completely redone. |

Old effects were just bad when more than 1 person jumped in.
New effects are over too quick. Also the ship fading out of existence, sort of want to see it do BSG FTL sort of effect on entering Jump. ---- CONCORD arrested two n00bs yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. |

While the current effect on TQ is terrible, the effect on this vid is "ok" but i rather have a WOAH!
I do hope CCP will change it a bit more so it gives more of a WHOAH!
Don't forget to change the sound as well, it gives the effect a finishing touch. |
