Hi,
Ive downloaded the game and had to pay to even use it (no free trial???) Every few minutes the game crashes my PC and I have to restart it. When I did get in game I couldnt get the hang of the controls as their illogical and impossible to use due to the game mechanics. Because of this I wish to cancel my subscription as I dont want to pay for a game that I cant play, it wont however let me cancel my subscription . Is their any way I can cancel my subscription and get a refund on the 20 euros it costs to try the game?
Regards, Sacred

Read these and change your graphics settings it should do wonders. _ _ How many pilots does it take to wire a Flux Capacitor? 3, 1 to wire it and 2 to talk about how the old one was better. |

Eh? What controls? You just use a ******* mouse.
And you can get free trials. It lasts 14 days.
And no, you can't get a refund. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Funily enough you need to know someone who already plays to take advantage of that. I'm not sure why the game randomly crashes, it just black screens then my PC reboots.

Thats my problem, would have been much better if you could have used the keyboard, but I feel highly hampered by the game mechanics and having to use a mouse to navigate about.

It wouldn't have been much better, it would have been CS in space, not to mention laggy as hell. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! Enjoy your worthless gun! |

Antivirus scan, trojan scan, spyware scan...then check your PC specs to be sure it meets the required hardware and OS...
typical thing to see of a pc noob, blame anything other then their own mistakes...

My PC is and always has been virus/spyware and trojan free, and its specs can destroy any game on the market. Why I cant get the hang of the controls is because your in what is defined as an infinate entity so you have nothing to directly click on, clicking to go forward therefore continuiously moves you forward through the game, to turn youve got to doubble click to the side problem is click to the side and you can go up down or do a spin. Ive read alot of reviews of the game and alot say the control systems easy to use, yet its not easy to use especially compared to any other mmo ive played. Stop acting like a bunch of fanboys I'm not "dissing" the game (have hardly played it as its so hard to use the controls and my PC keeps crashing), I'm asking how I cancel a subscription and get some sort of refund for the days ive not used.

Yes because when you get a new game the first thing you do is google for fan sites

To cancel the subscription, use the "my account" button to the left. For a possible refund I suppose you have to make a petition ("ask a question" on this site), I have no idea whether they will give you a refund or not though.

For the control issues I suggest you use your right mouse button in space. Experiment a bit and you'll see that it really isn't particlarly hard.

Try and disable sound... (update your sounddriver later) if it continues to crash and reboot then I don't know what is the problem.
But I used to have the same problem, disabled the sound and it worked... upgraded the sounddrivers and now game works... apart from I get disconnected from server alot... but that is another story.

you dont use your keyboard, you use right clicking to "approach", "warp to", "orbit", "keep at range", etc.
It takes some time but plenty of us are quite effective using these controls. ________

If your computer reboots, the game may be causing a blue screen error, only you don't see it because you have your computer set to automatically reboot when it blue-screens. There's a way to disable that "automatically reboot" setting in the System icon in Control Panel.
The crash may be caused by your video card drivers or perhaps sound settings. I know that some of the Sound Blaster cards cause a blue screen saying something about p16x.sys if they're set of full hardware accelleration. You can probably tone down the accelleration in Control Panel, Sound and Audio, there should be a slider in there somewhere.
You can also run the event viewer (Start->Run, eventvwr), and click the System log to see if there are any red stop messages, and what may be causing them. If the computer reboots, it usually leaves such a message in the system log.
The Known Issues and Workarounds forum on this site is full of answers to tech problems, and GM's and helpful players visit it regularly, I think, answering questions.
As far as cancelling account, use the My Account menu from the menu column on the left side of this web site. You probably will not get a refund, but you will be allowed to play until your current month billed expires.
If you click the Ask A Question menu on the left, under EVE Support, and give them the details of your system specifications and what happens, they'll contact you and try to fix the problem. In the EVE directory, there's a program called logserver.exe that can log every instruction EVE makes, and you can create a file and send it to them for debugging.
Instructions on how to create various bug/log reports for them are here.
And yeah, you don't click in space to move. EVE is destination-oriented. Right-click in space and you'll get a menu with all the destinations (stations, planets, asteroid belts) you can go to. Ship will autopilot there. For combat, you either right-click on the target and choose to orbit or approach, or you use the scanner thingy in the upper right corner.
It's not a joystick game.
Good luck.

Granted, the poster should probably give the game a little more of a chance as it does need some getting used to and is very rewarding when you do give it time. But the negative comments on here from idiots like Nero Scuro are pointless. If you can't say something useful then keep your mouth shut and don't flame all the time. Maybe some useful information to encourage this player to stick with eve and help build up the player base?

signed.
Thank You - I couldn't agree more. I think there has been some very supportive and useful information pasted in this thread in what I would call the 'right' spirit of an MMO.
Unfortunately, as always in every thread in these forums some people just can't help but mouth off and flame people without offering any help or advice. You should be ashamed of yourselves...if you have nothing constructive to say then you should not say anything. If everyone in this game was as dismissive and unhelpful as you guys then no new players would ever stick with this game and make it the great success that it is.
Question? Do you treat your corp mates like this too??

There is no excuse for condoning stupidity. Perhaps you would be wise to consider that some of us don't want to have to deal with every idiot with a pulse while we're in-game. If we did, we'd buy WoW.

To the original poster:
Don't feel bad. I came to this game over a year ago from EnB just like you probably did, which is what makes the controls confusing. It took me 7 months of play before I realized that I could move toward any point in space by double clicking in the direction I wanted to go....
There are some keyboard controls for modules, but movement is by "orders" or mouseclick.
Why don't you post your system specs? Maybe a techie like myself can tell you where your problem lies. "You Griefer!!!" = "You Doodyhead!!!" |

Maybe that hes getting flamed is something to do with kind of post he made? Like claiming eve have no trial? First thing you get from google 'eve-online trial' is link to site that give trial key. Hard to cancel account? How on earth he managed to make one in the first place?

PLEASE tell me where I flamed him. I said that:
* The game uses a mouse, not keyboard - helping. * There are free trials available - helping. * You won't get a refund because you don't like a game - fact. * If the game was twitch orientated it would be worse - opinion.
I really do find it amusing though, the amount of people who flame other people for flaming, usually when the original person hasn't flamed at all. I don't see YOUR post offering anything helpful at all. No, but you called me an idiot, so you are flaming. Troll. ---------------- Haha, stupid monkey! Now I'VE got the Oscar! IÆm sorry, and fully appreciate that these forums are too full of flaming, but...
In this case, this guy is a bit of a tit isnÆt he! HeÆs too lazy to be able to (A) find a free trial in the first place and then (B) be able to work out how to cancel his account. HeÆs obviously had sod all time to get used to the game since (A) heÆs only just started playing and (B) his computer keeps crashing yet heÆs too lazy to give it a chance and too lazy to try fixing the problems with his expensive, yet obviously poorly put together PC. Then he has the audacity to post in a forum populated my game addicts stating the game they play every day is crap and he wants to quit his subscription.
Eve does not need people like this, flame all you like guys, better at a tit like this than at each other
