How do you know the contract is about shooting blues by the way? I've hired quite a lot of mercs in the past (including Marmites) for a plethora of different tasks, never had the pleasure of working with your crew and since it looks like you avoid real fights I probably won't in the near future?

You are pigeonholing "mercenary" into a strictly Search and Destroy definition and while this fits into what you or I do, this does not adequately label what Marmite advertises is their primary function.

Fine. But to advertise as mercs, and be incapable of servicing all contracts with so many wars active, befouls ALL OF US.

I am not special enough to have a director spy in Marmite to see the contract negotiations in order to know the specifics of each of their contracts.

As far as them harming our ability to get contracts, I haven't seen any changes in our contract numbers. The bit about Marmite taking 100 contracts on at a time and "harming" future contract opportunities, I see this akin to the whole "you need to honor ransoms" bushido nonsense. I still don't honor them and people still pay me.

Sure, people will be turned off by bad performance from mercs, but common sense is also picking the right tool for the job. Clients can view active wars just as easily as anyone else. Taking a sledge hammer to remove an ant problem is not advisable.

For somebody who raged in Balle local last night for over an hour and a half you know a thing or two about chat roulette.

These guys were merciless to us when we were a new corp.

They're relentless; they decced us for three weeks! They got some pretty blingy kills too, one of which was my own. Technically, two were my own -- I had loaned a ship to a friend who had gotten killed in it. Sigh. (I didn't link them all as it would take some effort to find them, but you get the idea.)

We tried to fight these little bastards. We plotted to take them down in a blaze of glory. We got all of our guys in T1 frigs fit for ECM and tackling (we were mostly made up of new players at the time), set up all of their clones in a station in the staging area, ready to reship with dozens of ships in the hangars, and out we came! I was not ready to fly battleships yet, but I needed to be as tanky as possible. I knew if I undocked, they'd primary me, and they did. Our goal was to have them focus on me while our T1 frigs caused some havoc and a few battleships could snipe them. Things didn't go as planned; we couldn't get the composition, our former alliance engaged them right before we were ready, and I made a bad call and had my guys primary Raz. :P

It was a good fight, that could have ended very differently, which shows they're willing to engage in a good fight and take some risks. After that, we didn't much want to deal with them any longer, so we decided to hire our own mercs and evade them as much as we could. This was helpful, but it didn't prevent them from hunting us and engaging us when it suited them. I can say with certainty they are very smart about the way they go about their business. Our first fleet engagement Raz sat outside his home station letting us pummel him; only later did I realize he was assessing our DPS! And they don't just camp market hubs; they'll locate you, figure out what you're doing, and patiently wait to ambush you. We learned a lot from that war, and while it was difficult, it made us stronger in some ways.

I wouldn't call these guys friends, but I do believe mercs serve an important role in Eve, and having been on the receiving end of their contract...I know what they're capable of. Aside from one incident at the end, I felt they were very professional to us, willing to communicate constructively, and honestly, fun to play with in some ways.

TL;DR: I only encountered their main corp so I can't really comment on their alliance, but when it comes to Raz and Tearz, run away and never log in again!

Put another way, I endorse this product and/or service. (This entire post was meant as an endorsement in a light-hearted manner.)

What you are also missing mention of are the emails Sovereign sent Raz and Sivor in the past war we had with them that attempted (as ineptly as your missive) to sow internal divisions within Devils. Taint-licking Devils on one hand, while bashing specific members or corps therein on the other doesn't go over well with us, and if we want psychotic passive-aggressive relationships we will contact our ex-wives.

Well.. I know a little, enough to send Feyd in as bait. With the hatred to him, it was more chance for them to be willing to take the bait than if I had been the bait.

And just to clear up what really happen, so you dont have to speculate anymore.
Devils have their HQ in Romi (amarr) (even Rebirth and Lords of midnight)
Feyd warped 160m off their HQ, dropped a can and started smacking, Belthazor4011 and some other guys took the bait.
Feyd pointed the most shiny ship, and we came in from 2 systems out. They came to try save him with 3-4 logi's but did'nt dare to leave station so the prot died, and one of the logi's that actually tried.
And yeah... I would have used 4,6b on a prot if you did'nt need a fuckton of ships to take it down. duh...

PS: Feyd was the one FC'ing that engagement..

I don't think you understand how this works. If Devil's takes over your POCO, you won't be able to drop a new one. This means you won't be able to transfer it to the goons, which means that Devil's does not have to wardec the goons.

So unless you miraculously found a way to destroy the Devil's POCO using your awesome (probably non-existent) pvp skillz, or you're prepared to pay some other badass mercs, that POCO will never be yours or goons.

I hope youre not insinuating that rebirth. joined devils to get away from you...we've wardecced sovereign infinity in the past and nothing happened despite us popping into your system. Hell you guys arent even worth sending a scout into the system first because we know youll run off anyway

Just to update you on this. They destroyed the POCO, as expected.
I beat them to the drop on the new one, and transferred it out before they could wardec my alt (turn out the guy Cerbutt that tried to drop it was an alt of their CEO, so he has noone to blame but himself).
They got their CEO in and went with the usual damage control of "We didn't want that POCO anyway".

So much for this "never be yours or goons".

What you were trying to tell me in local is that you supposedly want to generate fights, yet wanted to buy the poco, which would pretty much be the opposite of generating fights.
Let's face it, what you wanted was to get the POCO. You failed. so now damage control is your only option. A merc corp being bested by a single player's alts is not exactly the best advertisement for you. So you will try to spin whatever you can to make it sound better for you.

Facts are though, you tried to steal my poco when I first placed it. You failed.
So you tried to bully me into selling it to you for cheap. You failed
So you wardecced me, and spent the time destroying to so you can take it by force. You failed.
And all I had to pay for the victory here is a couple of pocos, which is less than most merc corps would charge.

However you want to spin it, the facts make it clear what happened here.

Still you can hardly claim that what you wanted was "gudfites". You wanted the POCOs. And you failed. Now you damage control with the "I didn't want them anyway" defense, which is by far the most pathetic.
