Whats the worst film you have ever seen in your life?
Can be from any year, one so cheesy or regretable that you actually found the popcorn more entertaining?
After 12 years I think i'm finally ready to admit I saw this: - Street Fighter 2: The Movie
Any old-skool street fighter arcade or video game player will agree with me, this was poor, very poor. Pretty much an abomination.
Cheese Rating: 10/10

Starship Troopers 2.
There is simply no argument possible Please watch it. You'll want to gouge your own eyes out, puncture your eardrums, and then torture yourself to death for watching it.
If I ever run across a movie worse than that one, I'll die of shock.

Hard to decide on a worst movie, I've seen alot of really crappy ones.
Cobra had me and a friend laughing for an entire evening, many of the eighties "one man army" movies are really bad.
Commando is also one of the worst. But I still love to watch it, Arnold was one of my heroes when I was growing up. ------------------------- Grand Agitator Currently homeless, mail or convo if interested

Do you actually have to have watched a film in it's entirety for it to count? Well if the above poster got away with falling asleep in "Insomnia" (how ironic is that?) I can get away with it with "The Avengers". The only film I've ever actually fallen asleep while watching, in the cinema no less. Roused briefly at a scene where I just remember giant, colourful teddy bears running around and fell asleep again till a mate woke me for the credits. Quite surreal, but what I remember of it...was pretty shocking.
Gan Ning, did you forget to mention Kylie's role in your entry? And whomever put "Commando" forward as an entry, what are you thinking?
Oh and I did watch "Starship Troopers II"...the poster is right, it's just...there aren't words.

i saw another pretty crappy one in school ones, it was about this 80yere old guy who lived in the forest alone and you got to follow him as he got water from the well, made coffe, watching the klock etc it was horrible can't remeber the name though

"Altered States" an SF movie from 1979 about sensory deprivation and regression therapy (this was fiction by the way) leading to the main character becoming a swirling mass of cosmic energy and being pulled back to humanity by the power of his wife's love.

Alienator. Nothing, nothing, nothing in the world carries with it the same putrescent stench emitted by this film through every atom of celluloid.
The villain is played by what can only be a female WWF wrestler with a huge piece of drain pipe welded to one arm, firing bolts of radioactive mucous which alternately set things on fire or disintegrate them outright, and dressed in a get-up that would make you splatter your pants laughing were it not for the fact she can kill you with the radioactive mucous. The good guy is played by Jan-Michael Vincent of Airwolf fame, who displays great aptitude for frantically shouting things in fluent gibberish, bumping into the camera, and generally being the worst actor in the metaverse.
This movie's just bad on a whole new level. It makes Batman & Robin look like Star Wars. |

in no particular order:
- Willow - this is supposedly cult 80's movie but it sucks. The main char midget guy is so damn annoying, not because he is "short people" but cos he sucks.
- Equilibrium - Sheesh.
- That movie about the dragons few years ago - damn that was crap, only cool scene was star wars theatre, so damn logical that ppl born in 70s would play star wars in that situation
- Matrix - ok first movie was kinda cool with kung-fu scenes and stuff, but the story wasnt really avantgarde at all, it was just 2 guys getting stoned and writing overhyped stuff. Second movie... jeez can it get any worse, only good thing in 2nd part is the shots of that Ducati, cool bike. Didn't even bother with 3rd part.
- new star wars - goes without saying. I have yet to see the last movie, but I kinda feel that I can spend 3 hours better doing nothing at all. I guess Ill just wait until proper dvdrip shows up on DC++.

I personally have a problem with supposedly great movies that are getting all the hype and like a sucker you buy a ticket, watch it (or try at least) and walk out of the cinema thinking "wtf was that crap? Is it me?"
Hype is generated by the hype-creating-budget-machine so it doesn't really mean it is a good movie, just sucks to discover it on your own. --

Oh, having seen craploads of films during my studies in Aberdeen, I happen to see 99% of the stated films in here. Yes, most of the stated ones are bad, but they are only in the "it sucks" category compared to the ultimate crap of all time:
One day I found a CD named Long time dead that had some skulls drawn on it. I saw "wtf, this must be interesting". ...It was NOT
Also, 28 days was amusingly stupid, in such extent, that is the ONLY movie that I have stopped watching because we all got ****ed at how bad the movie was But still, not as bad as "long time dead".

Hoooooo.. I liked Wing Commander, but mostly for the special effects and the background story.. its a shame the actors sucked balls.
Starship Troopers 2 was absolute crap. Only movie to date that had aliens, killing, blonde chicks, big guns and gore that I've not been able to watch fifteen minutes of.
And then theres the absolute king of ****ty sci-fi movies:
BATTLEFIELD EARTH
That one is so bad, that it reaches the point of absolute comedy if you keep watching it over and over. My friends and I have this running joke about another friend who spent the entire time at the movies playing Snake on his cell phone, and sleeping in his seat instead of watching the movie.
Now we threaten him with Battlefield Earth whenever he steps out of line. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

I can see the beginning of a trend here...
Hollywood remakes an old Michael Caine film (Get Carter), relocating it to the US and ruining it in the process.

about Avp, the predator getting "friend" of the girl, heres why: she did something no predator had done b4 (afaik), killing an Alien with no armor, and no big plasma gun or something, just a simple staff/blade, in other words, the predator allied with her as a demonstration of respect.

Exactly what part of independance day is likable? Is that before or after the stereotypical redneck american beats the worlds prominent rocket scientists to discovering a way to take the alien flagships down. Or how about when earth is ultimately saved by a black and jewish american. Missed the symbolism? Heres another one..

AI is in no possible way thought provoking. That movie was telling you what to think, props to Spielberg for that but it made a very crappy movie.
In fact, if they would have gotten an actor who was a robot IRL to play the kid in the movie and then I still believed it then it would have been something.
OMG there is this kid who plays a robot who is pretending to be a real kid, how is that even possible, OMFG what a great actor.
So it's like we're meant to believe the robot is a real kid so that we feel for him, the jokes on us the robot is a real kid IRL can you believe that.
So you could say that becuase you felt bad for the kid was because of BAD ACTING, taht's right, the kid did not act like a robot enough since we still felt sorry for him.
It's a lame ass movie anyway you look at it and I'm sure that's why kubrick didn't do it.
One thing it definetly was not was thought provoking. It's like an optical illusion basically but movie style. You will end up thinking a certain way no matter how much you try to ignore or fight it, just like staring at some strange optical illusion, you know they're the same length but no matter how you stare it still looks like they're different lengths.
Edit: I take that back a bit, when the hot prostitute bot walked out of the bar I had some thoughts. --- I agree with everything Howard Dean says. |

The Big Blue - So very very boring... we watched the directors cut as well... 50 minutes extra...

The Blair Witch Project - I know some people liked this a lot... but meh... so dull...

I hated The Matrix..hands down. If I wanted to see a MTV video I would watch MTV. I loved how all these college age dope smokers said that it brought up "deep issues about reality" and "changed cinema forever". (Yes, those are quotes from some actual movie reviews.) It was, simply, a bad sci-fi flick made by two sub-par comic guys who grabbed some mega-financing. I'll admit they looked good, but who cares? I can't believe it when peopletell me that those movies are their favorites. I remember as a kid wondering about the nature of reality...we all did it. ME and my brothers would joke that everyone else was fake and that we were the only real people in the world. My brother (the wierdo) used to say he thought sometimes that when he turned around everything he couldn't see simply disappeared. I was 11 at the time, my brothers 12 and 14. It was in the 80's. If we had several million to make a movie it might be as crappy or tons better than The Matrix, but exactly original.

One of the best movies I've seen all year, you've got to have such a dry sense of humour to get it though

Signs - Ever had a 'Why don't they just...' or 'Why did they..' moment while watching a movie? Well Signs will give you that experience for a lifetime.
The Village - It begins with '..from the makers of Signs'. Beside the usual 'WHY!?' crap the plottwist is simply obnoxious and lame. The worst part is even that I saw it coming and I sat there going 'oh no.. no it can't be.. oh GOD NO'

Not the worst I've seen, but I recently saw House of the Living Dead, which was pretty dire.
Kept cutting randomly to shots of zombies being killed in the game for no apparent reason.

For me, it's a three-way tie:
1)Alone in the Dark - Uwe Boll is the worst director of all time. He needs to stop making films based on video games..he's single-handedly killing off an already sketchy genre. 2)Manos: The Hands of Fate - the most horribly boring film i've ever seen...and i've seen thousands.
3)Starship Troopers 2 - I requested that the video store burn all copies of this film, to avoid causing irrepairable harm to their customers.

New Star Wars, ya wanna know why, but becasue there isn't any star in star wars anymore, what happen to all the dog fights in space, and the flying along the death star, now we get one 5 min sequence is space and the rest is light saber wars. Maybe they should rename them to Light Saber Wars, and in that case I'd much rather watch sword fights with real swords. But the worst is the remake of Solaris, OMG pure pain to watch that, and Battlefield earth isn't far behind it.

Edited by: Severus Trajan on 08/07/2005 07:56:02 OMG, very few seem to have seen any TRUE B-movies that are truly bad BAD!
I can only point you in the direction of, for example, Alien from the Deep, an Italian remake (in English) slaughtering of Alien taking place on a tropical island where evil industrialists dump waste to produce a *cough* ...terrifying... monster (of which the budget was sufficent to show a largeish claw only).
Or as the site linked puts it: "When the ALIEN of the title finally appears it turns out to be a hilariously inept botch job consisting of subterranean roots with rubbery looking crab claws attached to the ends. This has to be the worst looking creature since the octopus in Ed Wood's bad film classic BRIDE OF THE MONSTER. This bit of unintentional humor is not enough, though, to make this worth sitting through."

You guys are rank amatuers on this post.
Go check out the movie Burial Ground - circa 1983-84 perhaps? An Italian "B" zombie movie with English dubbed in to gain a wider audience.
OMG it was SO bad that the extras makeup was coming off on camera and they left all those parts in the film.
Acting - sucked. Dialogue - sucked. Special effects - sucked. Storyline - sucked. The entire audience sat there and jeered the film, threw popcorn etc. If they hadn't given us our money back I believe the theater would have been torched by someone.
Oh well, at least I got laid that night ...

Read black hawk down and watched the movied and enjoyed both.
Battlefield earth...
I really dont know what to say here, the book is one of the most god awful pieces of litrature ever concieved, infact I believe one of the more positive reviews of battlefield earth called it "a supurating boil on the buttock of litrature", the film, even if it was 100% faithfull would still have been sh1te. There are more great sci-fi reads out there then you can imagine, stay away from battlefield earth and edit your post before more read it and mock you mercilessly.
I picked up this ace book today everyone rates it as a must buy for the budding military genius, tho ive decided to rename it as "Sun Tzu's art of the bloody obvious" |

If you want some bad movies, try some norvegian sosio-realistic dramas from the '70s, early 80s. Your brain will cut off all respiratory and cardial functions after about 30 mins, to spare itself of the absolute terror. |

Either you have a weird taste or you think to much/to less about certain things. Black and jewish guy saving the world on 4th juli : who the heck cares who does it (this is just racist :/) and 4th of juli , hellow, why would the movie be called independance day?

Yep, that movie is awful. But I wouldn't put it up as the worst movie I've seen or even the worst Sci-Fi movie I've seen. Supernova and Event Horizon are slightly worse in my opinion.
I usually steer clear of bad movies, so I'm fortunate enough to not have seen Gigli, Manos the hand of Fate, Starship Troopers 2, etc.
The worst movie I've seen I can't remember the name of. It was some romantic "comedy" involving a pudgy middle aged man trying to hook up with a rather unattractive middle aged woman. It was supposed to be funny, but I felt sorry for them both and disgusted at the same time. There was one sex scene and thank goodness they were both covered up. And that movie just dragged on and on.
The worst movie I've seen that I can remember the name of is Your Friends & Neighbors. It wasn't nearly as bad, but it was still an awful movie. I ended up hating most of the characters and hoping that at the end something bad would happen to all of them.

Its not that i dislike Atkinson i dont but i guess hes best when he doesnt speak And Natalie Imbruglia (spelling?) looks real good but i cant say she can act. The movie is supposed to be funny but u got to have really crappy humor to find it funny in any way its the lamest attempt of a comedy i've seen. But sure there are worse movies, just nothing i can come up with atm. Perhaps if i could just name any movie ben affleck stars in.

No, this had to be a movie which was so bad I actually regret the precious time lost watching it. Edited by: Taz''Hein on 14/07/2005 13:12:18 There are.... so... soooooo... many... here are the few off the top of my head:
Eyes Wide Shut (not only impossible to follow but manages to bore you to death at the same time)
Battlefield Earth (I actually almost walked out of this one then figured I may as well stay and watch the rest of the train wreck)
Popeye (Robin Williams in a truly spectacularly awful film)
A lot of others I've conveniently blocked out.
In response to skimming a few other posts: If you didn't like Blade Runner there is just something wrong with you. A lot of you mention part 2 of this, part 3 of that. Your problem is that you went to see the sequels to an already horrifically bad film (American Psycho, Blair Witch, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Final Destination, Cruel Intentions (for godsakes go watch Dangerous Liaisons!) etcetcetc) and lets not forget Hollywood is currently in pre-production for Roadhouse 2
