Is that the deck with the glass floors? Cause yah, that'd be extremely freaky after a few drinks

Well, Quebec is pretty hostile to us Americans... (they see a US license plate, they deem it as thier duty to steal, smash or burn your car, etc...)
Not bashing Wrangler, just speaking from personal experience, not just mine, but many family & co-workers as well... I'd rather see it in Toronto... ------------------------------------------------ "for piece sakes!" |

First floor is the one with the glass but thats only a small part of the floor.. theres 2 floors one open air the other closed up. Base of the Tower has conference rooms you can use and up the tower you can have other things but theres no chance of renting out the tower

Dunno where this happened to you but Montreal is not like the rest of Quebec.. Montreal is a Canadian city
Although i live in Toronto i would rather see it in Montreal beause the Casino will hold everything cheaper and with both languuages you will have less of a language barrier.

No problems Bhaal, though it might probably be more about where you park and crimerate in the area..
Besides, if I saw your license plate I'd also consider it my duty to steal, smash or burn your car..

Just plz don't smash & burn my 1966 Chevelle SS396 that I've been painstakingly restoring for 6 years.
I'll make sure to put the Bhaal-EVE Online license plate on the manure wagon instead, have at it dude

Actually, this is funny, because after returning from Fanfest last year, I was seriously considering trying to organize a North American Fanfest style event in Niagara Falls. I have a fair number of contacts in the city, as I used to manage a bar there, and know the area pretty well. Just wasn't sure what kind of responce I would get from the playerbase, and r/l stuff kinda got in the way, so the idea kinda fizzled out in my head.
If CCP and or a lot of players would be interested in this, I would be interested in looking into it. It would probably have to be spring of 2006 at this point.

Nah, don't bother holding it in eastern Canada. Come out west, where the air is cleaner, the beer is fresher, the women are hotter, and the malls are bigger.
That and we can all have a barbeque at Blink's place. :)

Belgium would be a nice place, centrally located in europe, good connections by air and train and unlike the UK people can come by car much easier and cheaper.
Plus we got better beer, cheaper wine and good food. (and tv is subtitled, not dubbed ! )

The air is also thiner it would seem ... nah it would just cost more to fly our to the west.. it just makes more sense to have it somewhere in eastern Canada...
A player gathering would be nice but to have somehting official from CCP would really solidify EVE in north america. EVE hasnt really broken through here and something like this could really boost EVE's reputation in North America.
Originally by: Bhaal I'd vote for the new Casino Niagara, it's brand new, and pretty awesome inside...

Yeah the new Fallsview casino is fantastic very vegas like.. however the problem with niagara is flying in internationally would be dificult. The closest major internatinal airport would be Toronto.. or maybe buffalo but i dont think you can fly in from iceland to buffalo :)

I believe that airport is in the US which is what concerns some people. Flying directly into Canada is what we're after.
I' love to have it in Toronto but i just dont see it being as cheap as if it were somewhere with a casino.

Toronto Airport to Niagara Falls isn't much farther than Keflavik airport in Iceland to Reykavik. And the airbus as well. Niagara Falls is also close to Buffalo and Niagara Falls U.S. Airports, which would be cheaper for Americans to fly into. The other advantage to Niagara Falls in the early to mid spring is it has a lot of hotel conference capacity which isn't in full use at that time, and can be gotten at a discounted rate.
Plus the fact that Toronto can be just too big, and accomadations can be very expensive year round.

I lived in London for 5 years and can testify that its expensive, dirty and the people can be so ignorant. Whilst those from Amarr may find it a home from home, I think most will rather go somewhere where the people are more friendly. (So that rules out Paris)

Glad to see people replying to this. Honestly I wouldn't mind going to canada since it's only a hop jump and skip from ny. Canada seems to be a friendly place...I would love to organize a gathering of eve players from us/canada with someone else's help. I def think it would help us people start playing eve too with the exposure. Since besides my corp and a couple other's I don't know any other us players....euro's 4tw. I just think the fanfest would be like 10x bigger if it was held somewhere closer to here or I guess in europe? But if ccp supports knock-off fanfest's thats cool too. I'll rob a local bank and get you guys plane ticket's so I can yell at you for various things I dislike in the game :-)

Would Montreal be that much cheaper than Toronto?
Not much cheaper but much more acomodating given Montreal has a casino and Toronto does not. Plus two languages makes it a bit moer atractive to people from France or anywhere else french is spoken.
Yeah Niagara has its ups for sure, with my players card to the casino i can bus down to niagara for $5 from Toronto so thats no problem..
But anyways, its not like CCP would ever do this.. unless someone planned the whole thing for CCP and all they had to do was throw oround the cash and show up... Shame... would really make sense to make fanfest at a more player friendly location.

Holland or Scandanavia would probably be the best place, since they'd be easier for most Europeans to get to and as a good deal of Trans-Atlantic and Trans-Indian flights have interchanges in this area it would make more sense for people coming from the Americas and Australasia.
EIf it were in England Manchester or Birmingham since they both have good convention menues and the beer there is considerably cheaper, often half the price of London beer. Also London can be difficult to fly to, either going through Heathrow or the easier but more distant Stanstead. England is probably out of the question anyway since:
1 EUR = 0.664619 GBP 1 USD = 0.550764 GBP 1 ISK = 0.00842528 GBP .+ (_) Fetch the holy hand grenade |

my main concern with this whole fanfest thing is how many people can actually attend. If CCP holds a DEV freindly but player unfriendly fanfest then whats the point. The idea in this event is to showcase EVE and have a large CCP organized gathering of players around the world. Right now iceland just isnt the best location. Please organize something official at a location more people can attemd. Not just for our benefit but for the exposure of EVE.
