Ok, so now you can protect your can and attack ore thieves. All the macro miners have to do now is leave their drones out while mining Ice and any ore thif will get blasted by drones..... while the macro miner sits at work/sleeping etc.
Saw another group of 3 ice miners in nooby corps with a hauler constantly dragging nothing from the can until ice that is dragged auto into the can appears. Leaving a bookmark in the can so it doesnt implode.
Petition...nothing gets done..they still carry on weeks after...oh well

If they attack you, yes.
Better yet, they take from your can, and you can aggress--even if they don't have drones!
All you have to do is empty their can, create your own, and when they take from your can as part of the macro, you own them. -- Proud member of the [23].

I don't think so, if you decide to fire upon a thief you have initiated the aggression and the thief will be able to defend thier ship.

Also, it won't automatically cause the person to go aggro.... They'll just be able to shoot you if they want to.
If someone can set up a macro which can automatically decide who has stolen from their can, and to start shooting them... I'd be mighty impressed :P --------

CCP's official stance is that if you profit in any way from the crime of macroing, you are an accessory and can be banned as well as the macroer when caught. So you arent supposed to be stealing macroer ore anyway. And you can sui-gank macroers, but you'd better not have an alt/team member take their drops. And CCP forbid that you run a protection racket on macroers. Yeah, that's right, CCP doesnt want you to prey on the people who deserve it, only on the honest miners trying to maximze their profits with the largest containers available. Go figure.

The macro program they use is based on colors. If you steal ore or pop there can, there not going to do anything different. All the macro program is doing is going "if there is a certian amount of grey here, this is a can, open it and put stuff in it"
"when orange bar at top is completly full, grab hauler"
None of your suggestions are going to work. They are not going to agro, the macro will just be stuffed until the person finds out.

for the ew on hauler thing, just launch the drones before, and have 1 cap drainer on - the drones will put serious dmg on the hauler, and the one cap drain will elt the hauler run out of cap cause he has to tank the drones, and jammers use much cap too.
so he will fail to jamm at one point

Wrong.
The programs that they use are based on figures, everything has to be set correctly before the program is configured for it to work, which is why bumping them about is the best way to stop them.
But if you tried to put your can there instead of theres, that WOULD NOT work as they have to open your can, but the macro is designed to work with an already open can. ---- Join Us

Some of these macroers use self-made macros that are really crappy because they are only programmed for mining and don't consider ANY of the what-if secenarios. On the other hand, I have seen a few macroers whose macro was so good that bumbing them out of range wqouldnt work because the macro well seek out the nearest roid of the same type and start all over. My point is, while none of the above solutions will work in EVERY case, all of them will work in SOME cases.

Sounds like the ore thief can't fight back without getting concordokened, which makes sense. You steal ore, the miner has the option to shoot you. If you shoot back, you are escalating the crime and concord steps in.

In the past, the only shooting in 0.5+ that didn't result in getting concordokened was war or mission related. This doesn't exactly fit in with the previous model, and it may very well be handled differantly. I wouldn't be surprised to see threads whining about getting concordokened for fighting back.
It just wouldn't make sense to have such an easy out for killing in 1.0-0.5

theres always ways around it. Introduce a newbie alt by proxy then. Get a 2nd acct or friend in a newbie alt to create a can and move the ore over to his can. Then just grab from there and move it into your can that you create. Can belongs to you now and whoever takes from it you can toast them.

That is a pilot attacking a criminal, as flagged do to his/her actions. It's not hard to imagine it being differant for a criminal flagged player attacking the 'victim'

Actually, I think you are being paranoid.
Of all the macros I have seen, they all base their work on repeative cursor movements (eg, moving ore from hold to can), or the color of a pixel on a predetermined location, after which it will initate a preprogrammed series of actions.
If the "macro" miner moves back to a roid, I think you are just being paranoid, and that is actually a live player mining.

Originally by: Bhaal I honestly don't see how CCP will implement this.
So in 0.5 and above you steal ore, Concorde comes & smacks you? Or are you simply flagged, and the victim can fire, but if the Thief fires back heÆs concordganked?
The latter is how I read it. There was nothing in the article dictating that the thief may fight back without getting concordokened, and it states that all the flag will do is allow the (former) owner of the oar to fire upon the thief.
At any rate, that's just my interpretation of the article.
Quote: Criminal flag pilots that take from jettisoned cans which don't belong to them
This is needed to allow the owner of the can to shoot the one taking from his own jettisoned can and to allow the owner to shoot anyone taking from the loot cans which drop from the NPC's the owner destroyed. This does NOT include a CONCORD response, only enables the owner to shoot without getting CONCORDOKENED himself. Could be applied to agent missions too, registering jettisoned containers to the mission owner.

It is not an exploit and has not been considered one for some considerable time (even in Beta). If it were, it would have been patched out ages ago.
