Few recommendations:
- Can you get into one of these truly 'neutral' reporting corps, like Eve Radio or the such? Would be a lot easier for you to get into massive fleet battles.
- Delay the feed by 5 mins if possible, especially during fleet battles.
- Get someone to add commentary to these large events.
- Archive some of the better feeds?
- Increase frame-rate for some of the better engagements.
- Get some advertising on your site to pay for all that bandwidth.
You seriously want me to leave my big alliance for a neutral news corp? lol (but hey anyone wanting to stream can do it) Not sure I can delay it based on minutes but maybe I can set some option in the server. Both better speed and audio can easily be set by the streamer, reason I set the values I have is because of my own limitations on my eve box and bandwidth, we can modify when needed. Ads or a donate-o-meter or something most likely but that's future plans if so.
Thank you :)

Originally by: LoxyRider Its a very cool idea, the only problem is there are obviously people i dont want watching hehe. Is there anyway to setup like private groups, if i wanted to share my stream with just my corp/alliance/select friends rather then everyone including the enemy hehe.
Yes it can be done, altho anyone basicly could view the stream if they know the URL to it. So yes it can easily be done so you and your friends can view it without it showing on the site.
As for enemy issues, Ikvar mentioned he did not want to reveal his location etc when doing things so I made a small program that you can use to hide parts of your screen (of course you won't see the parts yourself but anyway), blocking out systemname etc.
You can get it here. It is ugly as hell but does the job (so far).

I think ill reserve this for when pvp arises. People find out too much about you when you go about your daily business. As everyone knows i do lvl1 missions in a mega now!
But anyway a really good idea
I got nothing to hide... DO YOU!?! hehe

I hope none, for their sake and mine for streaming such content.

Hopefully you won't notice it but I can't vouch for everybody, maybe I am spoiled with my uplinks ;)
Maybe 20-30kb/s. So you should have at least 80% if not more of your bandwidth left. As for CPU usage shouldn't be much at all since it uses 0.2fps

Because I didn't want to stream my desktop while TQ was down, so I decided to put that lame thing there :)
Streams are now back.

Superb idea...
If there was a delay option so it owuld show what you did 1 hour ago I'd definatly offer myself for streaming -
Althgouh not sure anyone would want to see me lose yet another destroyer to a coverter, lol... (Damn lack of skills, heh)

I will look into it and see if I can find a delay (buffer) time option, the risk that I can think of right away may be that if you start now and have the delay of 1 hour, the actual stream will not be available to view until an hour later. Dunno if this would cause any problem or not but I will look into it.

This was done with Final Fantasy XI, being able to watch live in the game. The camera would switch to various locations, even had cinematic-style camera paths to follow so it would pan around something interesting while the players went around and did their business.
Very cool idea.

Oh, to add.
I had an idea once that there would be regional news available through the gate billboards. So you'd be on your way to a gate, when the billboard would freak out about some developing story going on in the game. The billboards themselves would show "video" of the action taking place, say you laying flat a complex, or an interesting bit of PVP.
It wouldn't run at full quality, but your game client would show video based on a simplified simulation of the events, after all we'd be looking at the billboard.

Except their cameras where server cameras not from the players views. And you could not chose where to view. :)
The billboard idea is cool, and most likely doable if you use semi-full-stream content.

Personally, I'd much rather have the server manage the camera. How boring would a fleet fight be, watching it at max zoom-out. Yay, brackets and the occasional bright light! :)

Signed. Wonder if they will have a hard time implementing secrutity camers at some node gates etc?

LOL, never. That would be a totally imbecile idea.
Player A: "Is the gate camped ?" Player B: "No idea, I'll check the security cam." Player B: "It's safe." Player A: "Jumping .."
Or:
Fleet commander: "What ships to they have the other side ?" Player A: "No idea, I'll check the security cam." Player A procedes to list enemy ships at the gate ... -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Who said it hat to be 0.0 gates? ;) Major 1.0 node gates would be cool, where it actually is traffic almost any time of the day.

LOL ok, anything has to be better than watching a fish tank, a 1.0 EVE-CAM would rock (no pilot names though). -- Intergalactic Teeth Pullers "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein |

Indeed. The ingame military applications of this software at a private location should be obvious to all.
