Placeholder stats i would assume. Hac like resistances would whack any form of balance we have out of the window.
I am of course interested in a mega or domi with them resistances ------------------

Now let's just hope this all changes... And if it doesn't, well, I don't really mind them having high resistances and excellent tanking, as long as they don't have the offensive capabilities that you'd expect from an assault battleship considering assault cruisers.

Edited by: Crellion on 01/09/2005 10:04:49 Omg even with the same offensive capabilities this is a bit uber-ish :) That Domi fitting M guns and a s....d of drones could sit on a gate with all tank (repairer and 5 plates !) in the lows and gank for an hour while tanking the sentries :O. Pirates who can afford them will love them. Not to mention lvl 4 missions and 0.0 ahem ... activities. However I think these look like veeeeeery basic concepts (no special abilities etc) so I suppose they are just testing the concept rather than the particular ships.

I doubt T1 battleships will get any cheaper. They are not far from construction cost right now, so no real hope for the poor there.
On the subject of the assault-like resists...well. I suppose it's a good way to start running level 4's without breaking a threat...unbalancing? probably, but this has never stopped them from releasing anything before.

I really doubt it, because the T1 hulls will be needed in T2 production.

23,400 MW base PG on that apoc , that seams just a little over the top me thinks.
Im all for HAC like resists as CCp stated they wish to improve tanking, so logn as we dont get any 'combat' bonuses i think they are not too bad

The only thing from the new data I think we can be sure is staying is the name of the new elite destroyer class. If you look carefully at the skill requirements on them.
Interdictors... this sounds SOOOO much like a long-range web/scrambler ship. Webbing at 50km and scrambling at 40km with a -2 power anyone? Sounds to me like WCS II's really will have a purpose soon enough ...
However, if the destroyers keep resists like they have...
For instance, I saw a Catalyst based Interdictor with 4 launchers and 4 turrets and Enyo like resists, similar armor and shield loadouts, just scaled up for ship size. Regardless... will the new dessy remove the need for my Enyo? =============================================== The Nest

Edited by: Tar om on 01/09/2005 12:46:38 Edited by: Tar om on 01/09/2005 12:39:37 T2 BS SHOULD be good. T1 BS are being gradually turned into jack of all trades and master of none. HAC, Interceptors, Assault Frigs, are all better than their T1 equivalents why not BS?
I'm sick of the small ship ****s anyway. If you want a big powerful ship - why the hell not? Its not like they're free, and T2 BS will cost a lot of isk to buy and replace so I say Build Em!
btw, is that site for real? looks like a bad mockup to me.
PS Anyone else notice they don't have extra slots... looks like not such a boost over BS as HAC are over Cruiser... -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net http://www.serenitymovie.com |

Edited by: Nomen Nescio on 01/09/2005 13:36:39 These are not tech2 BS, these are some "elite ships project". Because there are several elite versions for each ship with fancy paints and different stats. Worst of elite ones is very very very close to tech1 ship. They go gradualy and the best one has assaults resists.
For instance there are 3 or 4 different colored prophecies, but they are not tech2, they are just props with best one having like 1400 grid and reistances, others have less and less. There are elite destroyers also, yet again, I honestly believe they are not the tech2 ones - again too many variants with all diferent paints AND most of the stats are too close to regular ships.
The scary part is that there are BPOs for all of them, so in fact these are not some testing ships, but different ingame ships. So they expect to release them for us to buld, 4 types of elite ships per hull, like 4 types of cormorants if you know what i mean. Probably its a default variants for the "cusomaziable" ships, like a fraction modified ones.
So bottom line is "these are not tech2 ships".
PS There are much more interesting stuff though. Mk2 ships. Especially cruisers. How about celestis with 5(1) meds and one less high? Or rupture with +125 grid? Not to mention the 100m sig for most of them, Maller mk2 has +50 grid and 104 sig.

I think all non-trade items require BPOs, otherwise the dbase screws up.

agreed Tar Om. These people dont seem to realize that a T2 BS would cost a stupildy large amount of isk and f you can buy one you should get what you pay for.

"There are much more interesting stuff though. Mk2 ships. Especially cruisers."
Aye; looks like Thorax is staying the same, minus the reduction in signature size and slightly better agility all cruisers are getting. Caldari cruisers stay unchanged too... oh wait, Moa gets 50 more cpu. Yeah, *that* is something she's been always short at.
::sigh::
(if the reasoning behind it is, this will make people mount large shield extender, better think again. Ain't gonna happen as long as 800mm plate offers comparable hp increse, more practical resistances... for 100+ less grid the large extender uses, 75 less cpu, and without wasting the middle slot --;

Edited by: Orvas Dren on 01/09/2005 14:29:59 The changed to agility from what I can tell is actually back towards what we had before, though not quite that far.
At least when I compare the numbers with other ships, I see it as a lesser number being worse.
Correct me if I'm wrong...
But seeing as a frigate for instance with 3x agility is more agile than a cruiser with currently 0.65x, then going to 0.55x is worse.
BTW, the new thread with all the cruiser changes in one place is up under ships and modules. Working on pulling out the frigate data now, and the frigates are going to be even more interesting... lemme just say, they all have a second bonus now... =============================================== The Nest

It's just as vulnerable to EW and nos as a T1, and many of these will be brought down by fleets a fraction of their cost. I think the agility is multiplied by ship's mass to determine the "final" turning/acceleration ability. So while frigates might have their agility value higher than cruisers, their ~10x smaller mass offsets it enough to make them more perky in the end ^^;

"Possibly, and I would love it if that is true. Anyone got data to prove it?"
Well, not exactly a straight proof, but...
* spaceship command skill reduces agility parameter by 2% for each level trained * nanofibers and inertia stabilizers reduce the agility parameter * overdrive injectors increase the agility parameter * both rockets and torpedoes have identical agility, while they fly quite differently... what sets them apart is the difference in mass
overall you can spot the pattern that all skills and modules which make your ship more brisk reduce the agility parameter somehow... while things that make you more sluggish increase either agility or the mass. ^^;;

What, are you stupid or something? Frigates aren't supposed to be BS killers, theyre for tackling + frigate/cruiser killing. Of course you should be able to take down a BS with 5+ frigates, but that's not the "true purpose".

No, the way to go is to simply increase the resistances and give em a bit more grid/CPU to ease the fitting. That won't make em the uber gank-ships but will give em some much needed BS survivability.

Calm down people. They just added resists, cpu/grid and shield/armor HP to the T1 templates so they can test how uber that makes these ships. Jump on SiSi and convince them they arent that great if you want them to stay.
The really interesting part comes when they tell us what the interdictor, command battlecruiser and elite battleship skills do, and start playing around with slots.

The new miner gang modules are up too - "Miner Foreman" Crystal Optimization, Drone Gathering, and Ice Harvesting.
Drone Gathering has a Command Bonus of 100%, which makes me suspect that it allows the mining group to double its number of usable mining drones. The stats are all messed up on the Heavy Drone Navigation link though (-9100% tracking speed, wtf?) so I could be wrong.
The drone bay expanders look neat - Large Drone Hangar II costs 160 CPU/1260 Grid and reduces cargo capacity by 40% but gives +800 dronebay and +1 MaxActiveDrones (it also has some speed bonus but I can't figure that out).
Anti Cloak Pulses and Anti Warp Scramblers are also present.
"Stealth Systems" for smugglers are listed.
ECCM backups now have an item called "[Sensor Type] Firewall" listed, for Ladar, Gravimetric, etc.
There's this strange item called "Battle AI - MB" that requires 1000 CPU and 300 Grid, leadership 5 and Minmatar Navy Doctrine I that gives a Command Bonus of 50%. Wonder what that has to do with gang modules.
There's some crazy implants listed too, "Hardwiring - Defender Missiles I" eh? I want that "Gallente Veteran" implant for the 11th slot :)
WTB Smartbomb superchargers that increase both damage and radius of explosions.

"-9100% tracking speed, wtf?"
Many modules have their stats written in weird manner... for % values often you need to drop last two 00's to get the actual values. ^^;;
(and half of things from the database doesn't actually make it in the game on tq by the looks of it, anyway o,o;

There's a published flag, but it's not very reliable, so I chose to ignore it and put every thing in. That includes a lot of stuff that isn't really in the game. Like all the pimp modules for instance.

Originally by: TheMoog My guess is that T2 BS won't be able to mount many weapons. They'll probably be uber tough command ships, able to fit many gang assist modules at once, maybe some built-in gang bonus would be nice.
I hope so, it would be a shame if they are just Extra Heavy Assault Ships. Tech 2 battleships would add much more to the game if they were fleet flag ships.

These ships are only preliminary items. They have most likely just been put in as a starting point. the Slots havne't changed, the targeting range, even the Elite Raven is using the Scorpion picture.
What these ships are is only filler descroptions so the Devs have a starting point to create Tier 2 BS of their Choosing, copying over Hac stuff so the ships are Tech 2 and not Tech 1 in the Database.

Jide: would it be possible for you to include something about on which build an item was last updated? Some of this really weird stuff is new but much of it is so old there's not even the slightest chance of it ever being released.
As for the T2 BS, the fact that they are such rough preliminary test ships does not augur well for the release date either. Given the likely research time on T2 BS BPOs and their popularity (tons and tons of people have BS V) they'll take a long time to come down to a reasonable price as well.

Those exploding lasers are ridiculous...
I can just see how that happened.
Devs sit together discussing what to put in the next build, they are out of ideas and one opens a closet. All of the sudden a bowling ball rolls from a top shelf and hits him on the head. He goes down, the other devs crowd around... "Are you Ok?" "Let's make exploding lasers!!!" - And then they did it so he would stop crying.

The explosive damage on an energy weapon can be explained if you give your imagination a whirl ;P
One explination could be, that they've used existing technology (i.e. the quantum leap or symmetric quark technology used in jumpdrive and communication), to create beam of energy, where the particles leap forward onto the particle infront of it, creating a point of intensely focused energy, forming on the fired beam of energy up untill the point of impact, using the same symmetric technology to keep the focused energy from forming plasma. Then on impact with an object, this "ball" of focused energy provided by the beam, with the attributes of the crystal (symmetric quarks stored in the crystal keeping the ball from becoming plasma), has more energy then it can release over time on impact, and instead of dissipating thermal energy onto the object, it explodes and the small amount of energy that manages to "stick" to the object releases a minute amount of thermal and electro magnetic energy.

No, it's not. Consider elite industrials. Marginal difference in cargo (or if anything, a little less) but a lot more hits.
If you've ever tried to use a barge in low sec or 0.0 you'll know what a big deal that is ... standard barges are just tinfoil.

Thought you meant CCP had no justification in terms of plausibility of a crystal giving an energy beam explosive attributes :) Merely an attempt to try and spin out some imaginative explination for it.
As for balancing, the other T2 ammo has the same, i.e. charges doing EM/Therm damage. (Void charges)

I agree t2 bs's are going to be the end of balance. The way the pricing goes on t2's also only tge richest of players will be able to buy them. Why cant ccp just add a non t2 thats not uber that just requires bs 4. Looks like this game favors the pirates and gankers more and more every patch.

of course tech 2 BS's won;t be balanced. ALL of the tech 2 mods, ships, ect ruined the balance.
But releasing all tech 2 ships/mods would bring us full circle, back to original balance. Which was pretty well balanced.

Abnormal Resistance to EM, when you look at the thermal resistance, it's not even changed.... I think that's full of ****. Hell that thing says 30% to small projectile damage.

1. Tritanium turns volatile and prone to explode at high temperatures, I believe. 2. High energy lasers actually do cause explosive effects when fired upon a target
But then again, giving lasers explosive damage is actually not a good move. And the stats are so old it's tragic people still drag them up. --

think about it carefully
if t2 BS dont have HAC resistances or any tanking bonouses, then they will be as easy to kill as a tier 2 BS. there is no chance that the t2 BS will sell for anything under 500mil: would you pay that much for a BS taht can be destroyed 1vs1 to a tier 1 bs
that makes me think that they will have hac resistances, the devs could have a trit up their sleves, they might get a siege mode like the dreds, where they do more damage, and get a tanking bonous

Yeah. Or... Listen to this... they perform as well as their Tier 2 counterpart, but they've got two extra bonuses (run on the T2 skill) that makes the gang they are in better. Considering that you currently buy an extra low slot for 700 million +, then why would you not buy two really good bonuses for the gang (instead of your egoistic self ) for 500 million?
There's so much that can be done outside simple more-damage-more-tanking. And people ARE going to buy them at seriously inflated prices. Cause they all want a blood-red Megathron or a slightly-browner Raven. You just don't need ships that are going to need a Sieged dread (who by the way cannot hit the T2 BShips) or a yet-to-come mid BShip-Capital ship in order to take down. And we certainly don't need more damage! We need less damage and longer fights! (just a quick reminder: we don't want more tanking either - we want fights to last longer, not forever.) --
